Grand Theft Auto San Andreas (teaser 001)

Rockstar Games is celebrating the 10th anniversary of Grand Theft Auto, the famous action-adventure video game franchise originally created by David Jones and Mike Dailly. And to mark the occasion, Rockstar has put the wildly popular Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City games on sale in the App Store.

This is a great limited-time opportunity to save as much as seven bucks on all three open-world action-adventure games.

Here are the download links:

  • Grand Theft Auto III [$4.99 → $2.99, save 40%] — Released in the App Store in December 2011 and ported to iOS by War Drum Studios. The game brings to life the dark and seedy underworld of Liberty City, featuring a massive and diverse open world, a wild cast of characters from every walk of life and the freedom to explore at will. The 483-megabyte download requires iOS 4.3 or later.
  • Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas [$6.99 → $3.99, save 43%] — The game made its App Store debut in October 2013. You’re Carl Johnson and it’s the early 90’s. Your mother has been murdered and your family has fallen apart and to make things worse, corrupt cops frame you for homicide. Now you must take control of the streets of three major cities of the state of San Andreas: Los Santos, San Fierro and Las Venturas. The installer comes in at 1.63 gigabytes. The game requires iOS 6.0 or later and supports any iPhone and iPad from the iPhone 4s and iPad 2 onward.
  • Grand Theft Auto: Vice City [$4.99 → $2.99, save 40%] — Released in the App Store in December 2012. Set in the 1980s, this one recreates the decade of big hair, excess and pastel suits. Your goal: rise to the top of the criminal pile in Vice City. You’ll enjoy the game’s addictive open-world gameplay with character driven narrative and a cast of unbelievable characters. The app binary comes in at 930 megabytes and requires iOS 4.3 or later. Supported hardware includes the iPhone 4 and up, all iPad models and the fourth and fifth-generation iPod touch.

All three titles are universal and support all form factor iOS devices, though not the latest iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus screen sizes.

This sale is scheduled to end on November 9. Other Rockstar Games titles can be found in the App Store by following this iTunes link.

Are you a Grand Theft Auto fan?

And if so, will you be revisiting these Grand Theft Auto classics?

I’ve burned a lot of midnight oil playing these games studiously on my PlayStation and was happy to enjoy them on my iPad, especially San Andreas and Vice City.

    THX but……
    Why not FREE ? 😛

because they still need to make money.. Greedy Bastards.

      • Mozaik

They have every right to be greedy because its awesome game from ps2 era with great gameplay and updated graphics and my favorite no inapp purchases. I feel you are greedy that cannot pay few dollars for a game which gives you great amount of enjoyment.

      • Joshua The-Legend Wiebe

Okay, lets get this straight, I’m not greedy for not wanting to pay them even more money for something thats not worth even a few dollars (You can get it free off the internet for ps2, etc) and sure its an awesome game, but when it comes to GTA, they always have to milk every last dollar out of it and it gets annoying having to pay a company countless amounts of dollars for just a game.

      • AWonton

$20 for a game of this size with this level in depth of play is a reasonable price, reducing that due to it being a port seems the standard thing since people are adverse to paying much for ports(despite the development work that invariably goes into them).
And even then if the port was done poorly I could understand frustration with even a low price point, but these ports have been done magnificently, sure they’re not perfect, but no controller to touch port ever will be unless the game already had inclination towards touch style controls.
So all that said, $5 is absurdly little asking price for these beast of games. Any reduction on that is pure icing on the cake.

Oh and the whole “Well you can get it for free” can be used for literally anything, piracy does not entitle you to free stuff from developers. And “countless amounts of dollars” is just hilarious, they are charging a very “countable” amount for their games.

      • Joshua The-Legend Wiebe

Do you have any idea how much Rockstar makes on GTA alone? its hit the millions. so yes countless amounts of dollars spent makes sense because its so popular any anyone would buy anything GTA related.

      • You’d do the same if it was your game.

      • Joshua The-Legend Wiebe

If it was my game and I made a newer game worth waay more, I’d put the old games up for free.

      • You would port your old games to new devices. Have them tested to be compatible with new OS’s, fix glitches and bugs, do certain upgrades for free? Thats a lot of work.

      • Joshua The-Legend Wiebe

Sure it’s a lot of work, and it wouldn’t matter, if I was rockstar, I’d start fresh with every new game and any games from 10 years+ Id throw in free. its just too old to still sell.. It’s like putting zelda for N64 on iOS and charging 8.99..

      • it would cost but not that much. They should charge for them. that keeps it away from the freemium zone for the most part.

      • regkilla

Then go play GTA on a PS2 cheapskate.

    • Personally I prefer this over freemium. They still need/want to make some profit off of these. Be glad the original prices is a heck of a lot cheaper then buying it for a system.

      • Kurt

I bought the XBOX Slim (latest 360) with GTA V for 103 bucks off eBay. There are deals to be had

Shut your mouth you little bully. Keyboard tough guy

      • Telling a person to shut up makes you an internet bully. The worse kind of bully.

    • Tess Tickles

      you’re the math!

  • Osama Muhammed

    i thought they would make gta iv ;_;

    • Tony Trenkle Jr.

They probably will at some point. Graphics and processing power gets better every year. So it’s only a matter of time.

      • Probably not till the A9 or A9X

      • It would need less RAM on a tablet/ mobile though because the graphics wouldn’t be as good…

      • Tony Trenkle Jr.

Well A9 and A9X is next year. That makes sense. When I said soon I didnt mean this year. So 2015 or 2016 I could def see it happening. I want a mobile version of Fallout though!

  • Tess Tickles
