iPhone 6 seamless screen

Coming soon after pre-orders for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus went live last night, both Apple and AT&T reported that the respective companies were seeing record pre-orders, with demand for the larger iPhone 6 surpassing that of both the iPhone 5s and the iPhone 5.

Apple, despite its late start, saw record pre-orders last night alone, issuing a statement saying, “Response to iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus has been incredible with a record number of preorders overnight.” Although Apple didn’t specify exactly how many units were sold, we can assume it surpassed iPhone 5 sales of 2 million in 24 hours when Apple last had pre-orders two years ago.

AT&T reported “hundreds of thousands” of pre-orders for the iPhone 6 in just a few hours, breaking records for initial sales of iPhones over the past two years. Early orders of Apple’s latest smartphone will likely continue to climb over the weekend and throughout next week, as the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus won’t officially be available until September 19.

These record sales seem to confirm Apple’s decision to develop a larger-sized iPhone, as the company was previously inclined to stick with its smaller 3.5-inch and 4-inch models. Estimated shipping times have slipped to 3-4 weeks for all configurations of the iPhone 6 Plus, indicating that either Apple has fewer of these units available, or the demand for them is considerably higher. The iPhone 6 is still shipping this Friday for Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint, but shipping times for the T-Mobile version are estimated at 7-10 days.

    As expected..

  • Merman123

So where are all those disappointed people we saw complaining ? Haha. Congrats Apple. Can’t wait for my Plus.

    • Tobias9413

      My thoughts exactly. ^^^

    • Right here, high sale numbers =/= biggest bang for the buck.

      • Mohammed Sahib

You always said that you will come back to iPhone if it has a larger screen!

      • I said that? I’ve never used an Android phone as my personal SmartPhone…still rocking an iPhone 4s on iOS 6.1.2 until it drops dead.

      • As much as you hate the new iPhones this is true. Weird you won’t upgrade because you think the charging jack will rust on you and other minuscule reasons lol

      • iDB deleted my post? For what exactly? Not allowed to share my reasons for not considering any newer iPhones I guess…at least you now know via your e-mail.

      • DWayne Robinson

the worse thing about having an older device is apple will eventually stop supporting it with updates ..you can always convert it to a iPod touch 🙂

      • Fabio Rodrigues

that’s true, but iphones has seens at least 3 leaps of system, the iphone 4 lasted until iOS7, the 4S still able to handle iOS8, but for androids you are able to see one or maybe 2 updates, and after a few months the “new” android stops in time.

      • Except you have the option to install custom ROMs with the latest and greatest OS…having the latest iOS on old hardware isn’t really a benefit ’cause it just brings your hardware to a crawl, tempting you to buy newer hardware.

      • Fabio Rodrigues

Yeah, but most people don’t even know what a custom OS is, on the iphone, u just plug it in and open itunes, and you will have a new OS with quite a few improvements, instead of risking to brick your android if u don’t know how to put a custom rom

      • You’re assuming they have the latest or second latest iDevice. Not necessarily the case. iOS devices perform best with the major iOS version they were unveiled with. After that, Apple slowly makes your device unbearable…it’s like an official way of bricking your iDevice.

      • Fabio Rodrigues

But, yet it will survive with updates for years, which deosnt happen with androids

      • Survive? If getting laggier and laggier each year is your definition of survival, then you’re right…as for Android updates, it is sadly carrier dependent for the most part, and carriers like Verizon (http://bit ly/1ylE7yU) do support old devices for years…still sucks that it has to go through a carrier. At least your device is still usable for the most part and knowing Android, there’s barely anything new in iOS updates that hasn’t been on Android for years…

      • Fabio Rodrigues

but… they still survive, whether you like it or not 🙂

      • Fabio Rodrigues

nope, I am not assuming people have the latest or the secont last, I work with phones the whole day man, I still see a lot of iphone 4 and 4Ss, and just a few complaim about it, mostly cause they have too many pics in their 8GB or 16GB, but I still see people happy with iphone 3Gs

      • Don’t care if that happens. It’s actually a benefit ’cause the latest OS from Apple just brings your old hardware to a crawl…

      • Mohammed Sahib

Hmm. I must have mistaken you for another.

      • Dan

I agree. I look forward to getting a iPhone plus, but I’ll wait till the S version, right now, I’d have to pay too much to upgrade and it’s not worth it (upgrade/$ spent) coming from a 5S

      • mlee19841

same here the update price is killing me to so ill just wait a bit

      • Fabio Rodrigues

you are right, if you have a 5S, it is not worth to change to the new device now, unless you sell your 5S for a good money.

    • Jason Baroni

You said it all. It was the same with the 5c: “No one will buy this”. Every year is a bigger record.

    • credulousgeek

yeah same here getting iPhone 6 Plus was using note 3 as I was waiting for it to launch missed iPhone like seriously there is nothing better than it

    • Jack Wong

And the people who said Apple copied their idea to make a bigger phone?!

Seriously, when did we have the first Android phone? 😡

  • Utrarunner5

Sucks for those who want the iPhone 6 plus. They will have to wait a few weeks.

    • Tobias9413

Or outside a store next Friday.

  • Mark

AT&T is now saying the 6 Plus will ship between Nov 7-27. That’s insane

    • DopamineAddicted

damn. glad i got mine ordered lastnite

      • Mark

        My thoughts exactly

      • philip Mills

        first come first served 🙂

      • Mark

I just looked at my order status page and AT&T now says my phone will ship between 10/31-11/11. It orginally said 7-10 days!

      • David Saltares

Mine says the same thing. Even though I placed my pre order at 3:10 am (EST). I called an AT&T rep to see if the estimated shipping date of 10/31-11/11 was accurate. The AT&T rep said her screen said my phone would ship by the end of November. I’m not sure what to believe at this point. I don’t want to wait that long. Not sure if I should just cancel my pre order and try to get it somewhere else.

      • BlueintheBlood

I’m in the same boat, ordered mine at 3:30 and says 10/31 as well. Must be a place holder, 1st come 1st serve there is no way. I can order on apple right now with 3-4 weeks.

      • Fabio Rodrigues

i think it is better to order at apple website, 3rd year doing it, no problem in the first 2

      • mlee19841

        burn

    • mlee19841

      damn

    • Brzfld

I always wait a few months after launch, so they work out the production bugs.

  • Sam Mcdonald

I cant wait for my iphone 6 PLUS

  • Rowan09

Can’t remember who, but someone said the 6 & 6+ would flop. Where is that guy now?

    • Dan

hard to imagine iPhone flopping, the Apple watch though, that remains to be seen

      • Rowan09

I know but the definition of flopping would be selling 69 million when analyst predicts 70. I want the iWatch with all the sensors promised, it seems like a nice smart watch, but Apple didn’t hire all those experts to release this watch. What happened to the deal with Mayo Clinic, etc?

      • M3rcenary

The watch will do well like every other Apple product! I mean really, isn’t there some little part of you that wants one?

      • Juschan

well i can only speak for my self but i really want one. it would just perfect and complete my iPhone 5c. and damn you can all say what you want about the 5c i just simply love the design and the curved edge ! the best phone i have ever had 😀

    • Sanil Chitrakar

it looks like you’re really proud of it. i’m always curious about this. what makes people like you so proud when iPhone sales like a hot cake? a record-breaking sales of iPhone shows it’s popular but it doesn’t show it’s the smartest phone on earth. to me iPhone is like a Justin beiber. very popular. incredible sales, but less of a singer, more of a show off. lot of people just want iphone to show off. it just proves how much isheeps worships their apple god. and i really feel sorry for them.
people who choose high end android phones are the one who wants the real smart phone.

      • Rowan09

What? People buy Samsung phones just to show off as well, HTC, etc. Everyone have their fans and personal I care if Apple sells well because I like the iPhone and no sales will mean no iPhone. Look at what happened to the iPod touch line. I’m not bragging it’s just that this Android fan boy was here saying the iPhone was going to flop. If I say something and someone calls me out I’ll at least address it and admit if I’m wrong or right.

      • Sanil Chitrakar

that’s where you’re wrong. no sells doesn’t mean no iPhone. apple is very rich. no sells means it will push apple to make a groundbreaking iPhone. why do you think they made bigger screen iPhone. it’s because lot of people like me left iphones for bigger screen.
please don’t spoil apple. you’ll never get groundbreaking iPhone as long as it sells like hot cake.

      • Rowan09

So the iPhone needs to flop to be ground breaking? Come on that makes no sense, if the iPhone continues to flop it will stop selling and that’s for any product.

      • Sanil Chitrakar

you didn’t get what i meant. they don’t have to go bankrupt. they just need to have that fear in them that they are losing their grip.

      • M3rcenary

Ha! Show off? Cmon you can’t honestly say that Apple doesn’t do ‘the complete package’ better than everyone else. Android is fragmented, and so far behind iOS its not even funny. Samsung know it, that’s why they are developing Tizen. Don’t get me wrong. I skipped the iPhone 5. I went to HTC One, Galaxy S4, S5, mostly because I wanted the larger screen and NFC. I loved my One. But many little frustrations with Android brought me back to Apple and I’ve been rocking the 5s now for longer than I spent with any of the above droids, and I got used to the small screen again, despite many people telling you ‘you can never go back’. I must admit though, that one of the big draw cards for me is the ability to jailbreak, however, with each new iteration of iOS the ‘jailbreak gap’ gets closed even more. You talk about Show-Offs? We used to laugh and laugh about Samsung cramming every feature into a phone, none of them implemented well. That’s not just showing off, it’s kinda like being the jealous kid too. When Apple do something, they do it well. There’s no denying it. And that is why they are number 1.

      • Sanil Chitrakar

how can you call iPhone a complete package when your battery doesn’t last a day. if you’re a heavy user like me it won’t last half a day. so, no, iPhone is not a complete package. for me note3 is better package than iPhone. it can do so many things than iPhone like usb otg(the biggest point) , s-pen, micro sd, micro usb cable, wifi transfer(i transfered 200+ pictures to my wife’s note3 in less than 2 minutes, it’s really fast), long lasting battery, etc etc. the list just goes on and on. and that’s my note 3. wonder how beast note4 is gonna be.
please don’t tell android feature doesn’t work. every important features in my note3 works. everyone will have hard time when changing platform. it takes a little patience and habit of learning to get used to.

      • Shadowelite123

HA no. I own 2 Android phones and they are incredibly unbearable. They crash on me all the time. Whether is the entire phone crashing or its an app I’m using. Don’t act like Android doesn’t crash. The Note 4 is barely an upgrade from the Note 3. All it has is the S5 fingerprint reader, health feature and a quad HD display upgrades. That’s a ripoff to be honest. That’s not an upgrade. The iPhone has always lasted me up to 8/10 of the day and has had all its features work perfectly. You sir are a huge Android fanboy that probably hasn’t even used a current generation iPhone and is basing their entire argument on what you hear. So either go learn some real experience with both sides or get your fanboy but out of here.

      • Sanil Chitrakar

i’ve been using note 3 for almost a year now. i barely remember any crash. i don’t know which android device you’re referring to when you say it crashes on you all the time. *your comment is so 2012.
*your comment is full of lie
        *you have a narrow mind
        *you are an isheep
and i’m not an android fan nor samsung fan. but yes, once i was an apple fan.
and please don’t reply me. i don’t like to discuss with liar.

      • Steven Honey

So eye scroll isn’t a show off gimmick? I have a gs5 and I only used eye scroll once. It doesn’t work well at all. It’s a show off feature. ..nothing more. I NEVER use some voice because it sucks. There’s showoff and then there are professionals. I think you have them mixed up sir.

      • Sanil Chitrakar

it’s not eye scrolling, it’s smart scrolling. there’s two option you can choose from. you can scroll using your head movement or by tilting your phone. it only works with Internet app (stock browser app). tilting moving your head to scroll is a pain in the ass. you can call it gimmicky. but tilting device to scroll works flawlessly. if you’re reading a long article (only on internet app) it really helps. don’t tell me it doesn’t work well at all. i use Google Chrome and dolphin for my browser. so, i don’t need smart scroll. that’s why i disabled it. but someone might find it useful. it’s always better to have something than to have nothing at all.
i bet you don’t use all the feature you get in your iphone too.
don’t call any feature gimicky just because you don’t know how to make use of it. i can call siri a gimicky feature too cause it was fun to play with when i first got it but later i never used it. but me calling siri a gimicky feature would be wrong because some one out there must be making the best use of siri.

      • M3rcenary

Better to have something that doesnt work well, than to not have it at all?! Ha. That’s exactly the kind of compromising stance Samsung take with all their devices just so they can have ‘something’ first. Apple would never implement a useless, buggy feature. Well maybe their Apple Maps launch was a joke, I’ll give you that, but they havent done other stupid things like ‘sPen’, ‘Eye Scrolling’. I mean seriously, hand writiing recognition? I can type a million times faster. I watch people do it and laugh. And eye scrolling was very buggy. In fact it was LAME. I look at those features and all I see is DESPERATION. Kinda like your posts here. And the truth, I had the Galaxy S5 for two whole days before discarding it. Why? Because as much as the screen is beautiful (it is), I just couldn’t handle that pathetic fingerprint reader. I had to go back to Touch ID because it frustrated me so badly.

      • Sanil Chitrakar

you blew it when you said s-pen is stupid. your logic is like “i don’t like that feature that’s why it’s stupid”
your comments holds no value with such stupid thinking.
s-pen is a must have feature for artist, painter, designer, cartoonist, animater etc etc. I’m a hobby artist and use s-pen a lot.

      • Peter Marquardt

I can only speak for myself, but I don’t buy iPhones to show off. In fact I make an effort not to show it off if I can, because I find people showing off their phone embarrassing.
The reason I continue buying iPhones is the unparalleled user experience I get, not the amount of features. You can throw any feature you want at me but if it’s not elegant to use or requires me to fiddle with the settings too much or it doesn’t integrate well I won’t be happy with it. Apple has a good way of implementing things as seamlessly as possible with usually very good defaults. That’s worth waiting longer for a feature I wish for to hit iOS. Examples of this would be Handoff and the Health app in iOS 8 paired with their motion coprocessors, automatic OTA updating, the new options for built in image editing, AirDrop, Facetime and Facetime audio, voice messages in iMessage and of course Touch ID.
These are all feature some phones or flavors of Android may have had beforehand, but you can’t tell me they all felt like being one package, were ready to go without any additional setup or installation, interfaced well with each other or worked flawlessly across multiple Android devices without version conflicts, making sure others had certain apps or versions installed or properly configured.
Android phones are more powerful, but you need to maintain them to make use of all the awesome features you want in a way that’s pleasant. Apple builds in less, but thinks them through carefully (usually) and makes them easily accessible and mostly work out of the box like they were intended and across devices in the case of AirDrop, Facetime or iMessage

      • Sanil Chitrakar

i get what you’re trying to say. which phone to chose is totally a personal preference. if iphone’s features are enough for you, then it’s ok to have iphone. but that doesn’t deny the fact that latest android high end devices are smarter than iPhone.
and you made Android look like a very very complicated OS to use. lol. it’s not like that. you just need to use it until you get used to it. you definitely have lot of settings to enable disable according to your need. you definitely have to go through a lot of settings when you get a lot of features.

      • Ernest Medina

People pick an operating system that match their life style. Some of us do not like android OS. That’s why we stick to iOS.

  • Manuel Molina

Did anyone pre-order with T-Mobile? I decided to make the switch and I did mine with them. But what was weird, and correct me if I could be wrong, but T-Mobile gave me the option to receive mine tomorrow. There was an option for Saturday shipping with a 9/13 data on it. Did anyone experience this as well?

    • Abracastabya

I hope you opted in for it! Worth a shot.

      • Manuel Molina

I did and I’m actually calling T-Mobile to ask them about that to ensure it wasn’t just a fluke and I’m not burning 30 dollars just to see my package on Friday the 19.

      • Manuel Molina

They kind of gave me some bs about this. They said it’s the first batch, so the delivery should be by 9/20. Understandable, but if that’s the case, why am I paying 30 dollars for it to be shipped overnight? I also find it weird that it says 9/13 delivery.

    • Rowan09

I ordered mine through the Apple Store but I got the plus and it said 7-10 business days for shipping and somehow that translates to Oct. 1-7.

      • Manuel Molina

Best to say that we’re fortunate that we’re getting our phones within a few weeks time as oppose to those who will see it in November or in late October. Oct 1-7 is better than the latter.

  • Abracastabya

All the androidians are coming out of the closet…revealing their secret love for iOS!

    • Diego

Yes, the losers that go to android only because the large screen now are returning to iOS.

      • jocastro

not really, ive had the iphones since day one and stopped at iphone 5… and to be honest i switched because i got bored not because of the screen. I honestly wont get the iphone 6 or 6 plus because there is nothing really new about it other than hardware upgrades and a new design.. whopppeeeee… not……. The day apple blow my mind again is the day i will come back

      • Unicorn Drank

I am using a galaxy S5 since my iPhone 5S broke and I really don’t find the charm about android. Apps look shity and the whole customization is great since touch wiz looks horrivle , maybe that’s why the android community like customization so much, they don’t like what their phones come with unless its stock

    • AndroidDogHeatandSteelersFan

      hahahha

  • Diego

If someone wants to be nice and buy me a iPhone 6 Plus and send me to Brazil that will be great, I’ll be one of the first to have here and help Apple to bring android user back and make everyone amazed. ;]
Sadly the high prices here in Brazil wont let me buy the new iPhone.

    • AndroidDogHeatandSteelersFan

ayo deigo! just pray dawg !

  • Ryan

One of the worst sentences ever crafted:

Apple, despite its late start, saw record pre-orders last night alone, issuing a statement saying, “Response to iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus has been incredible with a record number of preorders overnight.”

  • Scott Shearon

I just ordered a 128 gig 6+ for me and one for my wife. The email we got said the expected shipping date was between November 7th and 24th. Hopefully it’ll come earlier tho. I don’t think I can wait that long.

  • n0ahcruz3

    Got my pre-order T-mobile iphone 6 gold 16gb. Arriving 9/19/14 oh yeah!

    • James Gunaca

How do you know it’ll arrive that day? Did you order from apple or tmobile?

      • n0ahcruz3

Tmobile. It says so when i ordered it. 16gb i6 gold. I guess few people are ordering that model.

      • James Gunaca

I had to end up ordering over the phone about two hours after it went online for pre-order. When I check order status it doesn’t show a date. Just 2-4 days shipping method.

  • Joseph A. Ahmad

My only concern is that protruding lens on the back of the 6, but, I really don’t mind it too much. And appears that from this screen grab I have, it’s really not a problem laying flat on a table. I’ll just have to see.

  • Jaco

    For comparison

  • Yunsar

Is there any way to find out which position you pre-ordered (like first or second)?

  • Max

I have a question. Didnt they say that we had an option to select pick-up at store for the iPhone 6? I was one of the first to order but only had the option to ship. Can i still change it?

  • Asmi Wt

Question. If I order the Iphone 6 the contract free T-Mobile (GSM) is it like the factory unlocked ? would it work with other SIM cards other carriers ???
