Good news for all of you aspiring musicians out there. In celebration of 40 years of Yamaha synthesizers, the company is offering a number of its iOS apps for free. This includes some smaller titles, like Set List Organizer, and more prominent ones like Cloud Audio Recorder.
We’ve listed 8 of the apps below (there may be others), which are normally priced between $1.99 and $15.99. Admittedly, many of them were built to compliment actual instruments, but some, like Mobile Music Sequencer, are fun to tinker with on their own as standalone apps…
Voice Editor Essential is a simple CoreMIDI iPad editor application for editing the effects in Yamaha Synthesizers. The editor focuses on detailed editing of Insert Effects, System Effects and EQ that are frequently modified and can take advantage of the iPad’s large graphic display. Yamaha “Faders & XY Pad” is a CoreMIDI application that controls external MIDI devices by sending MIDI Control Change messages from the iPad. 8 sliders each with up to 3 control change parameters can be assigned for each of 50 templates. A unique XY-Pad mode lets you control multiple faders by flicking a ball that bounces off the sides of the XY grid for vector synthesis style control. Set List Organizer can be used to edit and display the set list for a live performance. It’s a must-have application for any musician. Set List Organizer is a Core MIDI application that can send MIDI Program Change messages for each song in a live performance from an iPad to a synthesizer or other device. Multi Editor Essential is a CoreMIDI application which gives you all the tools you need to mix Songs and Patterns from your Yamaha synthesizer on iPad. You can control volume, pan, chorus send and reverb send for each part as well as detailed editing of the Mix Effects and the Master EQ. Cloud Audio Recorder allows you to record the sound of musical instruments to your iOS devices via the built-in microphone. The recorded data can be normalized, trimmed and signal processed on the iOS devices. Recorded data can be freely uploaded to or downloaded from SoundCloud. Cloud Audio Recorder for MOTIF XF allows you to record MOTIF XF sound via Wi-Fi. Digital recording of MOTIF XF can be done in either 44.1KHz or 16bit, and each recording can last up to 30 minutes. Recorded MOTIF sound can be freely uploaded to or downloaded from SoundCloud. Also you can copy & paste your sound to another iOS apps. Yamaha’s Mobile Music Sequencer enables composers to combine a range of phrase patterns and create musical compositions intuitively, following the flow of composition, from phrases to sections and from sections to songs. Wherever you are, you can now sketch the outline of a composition. In addition, you can use the ingredients to delicately craft songs on a Yamaha synthesizer, or in Steinberg Cubase. Performance Editor Essential is a Core MIDI application that enables you to edit the performances of a Yamaha synthesizer from an iPad. You can configure the MEQ and effects, which are used often in editing, in addition to arpeggiator settings, voice combinations, and each voice’s key range. Performance Editor Essential also has an XY pad for controlling parameters in real time. You can also control the tap tempo and volume.
