Vertex is now available on Cydia

Resized Vertex

Vertex, the awesome jailbreak tweak that combines app switcher and control center into one convenient page, is now available for download on Cydia’s BigBoss repo. The tweak, developed by Ian Burns and Timon Olsthoorn, and is based on Bill Labus’ popular Mission Control concept.

The team bills Vertex as a sort of one-stop-shop for all of your app-switching, music-controlling and Settings-toggling needs. The tweak is well-designed with customizable aesthetics, and in our initial walkthrough, Jeff said it’s ‘definitely worth trying.’ Check out our hands-on video below…

Vertex is $1.49 and you can find our full preview of the tweak here. We also talk about it extensively on this week’s episode of our Let’s Talk Jailbreak podcast if you’re looking for more commentary. For those of you who do end up downloading it, be sure to share your thoughts in the comments.

Thanks Willie!

Should I be waiting for Auxo 2? Decisions decisions…

    • JS3

      its a $1.50…. buy both lol….

    • TechThingy

I don’t know what about you bro, but I’m waiting for Auxo 2, but I’ll be really disappointed if the ones who bought Auxo on iOS 6 won’t get Auxo 2 as a free update.

      • CAS

I will wait for Auxo 2, it looks so much better, and Sentry has told that Auxo 2 is not a free upgrade since is a new concept, but I think I read on reddit that Auxo1 owners will get a discount.

      • TechThingy

I still don’t get it, so it’s a new concept, so what? it’s the same tweak that serves the same purpose, the face that they are charging extra money for an UPDATED version is an absurd in my opinion

      • DannyPrecise

I think I read somewhere that Auxo 2 is being developed by another company but they’re using the name Auxo with permissions (I believe). I think that’s the reason why Auxo 2 isn’t a free upgrade to Auxo users :-/

      • Smuys

        That’s absolutely wrong, sorry

They are making it paid because it’s a completely new tweak.

      • DannyPrecise

So I’m wrong or what I read is wrong?

      • Smuys

He is working with another dev, but not another company. Otherwise, that has absolutely no connection with the pricing.

The article was wrong then I guess.

      • DannyPrecise

Ok, thank you for the clarification.

      • Dan

That’s life. Going from Office 2007 to Office 2010, you have to pay.

      • Smuys

It’s not an updated version, it’s a completely new tweak.

      • Kevin Osborne

It’s all new work to build a new tweak with the same or similar concept but for the new OS. It’s still new, and people shouldn’t complain about having to buy it again.

Omg I bought a 2011 Kia Optima! Now they came out with the 2014 and I want that one! Free upgrade, right?!? What do you mean I have to pay again???

      • mrgerbik

lol you’re probably okay blowing 20-50 bucks on a movie, or 5 dollars on a coffee but 2 bucks on an app you will use for months (if not years?) is absurd? go moan somewhere else

      • ✪ aidan harris ✪

New concept != Old iOS 6 concept

      • Smuys

I read an interview with sentry and Auxo 2 will be a completely different package, everyone will pay the same because it’s completely rewritten for ios 7.

    • John Sklikas

I don’t like Auxo 2 at all. So my decision is obviously Vertex :)

    • f1ght3r

I’ll probably get Auxo 2 as well, but I bought this tweak just to support Ian B., he is a great Dev and puts a lot of effort and provides great support for his tweaks.

    • Aden Bauer

buy both to see for yourself.. you can read a billion reviews but in the end the best way to find out if you like it is to try it for yourself. Im gonna buy both.

  • JS3

one question. is this tweak only used inside the phone? meaning on the lock screen can i still use the original control center? im guessing it does but i still figured id check.

    • TechThingy

      Yes

  • Eikast

I’ll wait for Auxo 2, GridSwitcher has me covered until then.

  • Mani_rk

    I just bought Vertex…….it’s working like charm……love it……..will compare once Auxo 2 is out……

    • Tavish

      Having any battery issues?

      • Mani_rk

        No not at all……..

      • Tavish

My battery has drained fast the past 2 days. Not sure if it’s related to installing Vertext or not. I’m gonna give it a few more days to fully test it. I’m loving this tweak though.

      • Mani_rk

i think may this is because of some other tweak…..for me as usual….will let you if i face any issues with this tweak……

  • Fermín Osorio

Uhm… Waiting for comments… Want to know if it works with Compose, Define, CcLoader or you can’t modify the cc.

  • czbird

You would talk differently should you need to completely rewrite a software from scratch.

  • Matt Grope

what happens when you invoke the control center on the lockscreen? Do the toggles stay in the same configuration as they do when you use it on the springboard?

  • czbird

    Installed, tested, deleted.
    Major issues for me:

    A) CC sections cannot be hidden
    B) AirPlay didn’t show up
    C) The icons are ugly (why are disabled icons crossed? Black color is enough)
    D) A lot of toggles is missing – e.g. SSH or KillBackground

Make it working with CCHide and CCSettings instead of reinventing a wheel.

    Half way there… :-)

    • Brandon Weidema

      airdrop also doesnt show up.

    • Beta382

You are slightly misinformed. Vertex uses flipswitch for toggles, so all flipswitch toggles are available. You not seeing SSH or KillBackground just means you failed to enable them.

      • czbird

Flipswitch has issues. I removed it. CCSettings is more stable.

      • Beta382

Flipswitch has no known issues. If you were experiencing something, it probably wasn’t FlipSwitch. (Also, a great deal of tweaks are based on FlipSwitch, if there was an issue, you wouldn’t be the only person experiencing it)

      • czbird

Sure, that’s why it stopped after uninstalling Flipswitch.

      • ✪ aidan harris ✪

Flipswitch works. The fact that any issues you were experiencing (or imagining?) stopped after uninstalling Flipswitch is purely coincidental…

      • czbird

Yeah, it only must have been a dream, seems like everyone knows better LOL

    • applepie555

You can get to the Airplay and Airdrop from the regular control center from the lock screen

      • czbird

Very comfy workaround. Thanks but no thanks.

  • leart

Now this is a must have tweak..
Your home button will be happy if you install this..
    Cool and convenient

  • Blake

Super laggy. Puts me in safe mode when I hit a toggle. Needs some updates, but could be worth it!

  • Fevostone

I think this is poor we’re is airplay and airdrop gone..???

  • mike

Bought the tweak only to find out that some toggles that worked with CCControls do nothing when activated. Things like Siri work but then toggles such as Sleep Button, Home Button, or Screenshot simply act as a toggle and not an action. I hope this is updated, a small bug like this could ruin a great tweak

  • Inseltraeumer

Has anyone tested it with MultitaskingGestures? Does it simply replace the stock CC? Currently I use MultitaskingGestures to have a swipe from the left screen bottom close an app and one from the right open up CC. If I purchase vertex, would a swipe from the right bottom open Vertex or still CC?

Thanks a lot to anyone who knows (and tells me) :)

    • mike

At first when installing Vertex I had disabled MG to ensure compatibility, but I went and tested the bottom left swipe for closing the app and that still works with Vertex. I can’t seem to restrict CC to only the right edge though

      • Inseltraeumer

Thanks. What do you mean by you can’t restrict CC to the right screen bottom though? Does that right bottom swipe open CC or Vertex?

      • mike

Sorry for the confusion, I should’ve elaborated. I couldn’t manage the settings of MultitaskingGestures to open the CC with a side specific swipe, only to close the current app. I did manage to combine a bottom left swipe up to close the app, with the bottom right swipe up to invoke vertex.
One of my issues is is you relocate the CC to the NC, Vertex no longer opens. I’d like to still have limited access to the CC to use some toggles from CCControls that aren’t working with Vertex.

      • ✪ aidan harris ✪

You can restrict CC to only right (or left) edge in the Multitasking Gestures settings. If you’ve done this and CC still appears when swiping from the middle of the screen (when you only want it to appear when swiping from the right or left) go into the settings for Activator and do the following:

Anywhere –> From Screen Bottom –> Do Nothing

      • Inseltraeumer

Ah, thanks. What I wanted is to open Vertex rather than CC with the right bottom swipe though, so I probably won’t buy vertex as it doesn’t just replace CC.

      • ✪ aidan harris ✪

You can do that too. Just set activator to open the appswitcher when swiping up from the bottom right…

  • Thiago Vaccaro

    It’s very buggy though…

  • Omar Amer

    Airdrop??

  • http://www.eraser.org B. Braun

Would buy it if he add a feaute to only show running apps and no recents

  • Abi Manyu

its soooo buggy that its almost unusable… lucky i “tried” it first from a special repo instead of buying it in rush and lost 1,5 bucks

    • Dani Hayes

It has been working for me fine, both the “special repo” and purchased version ones.

  • Dean Robertson

Vertex is ok but I like my tweaks like quick activator, ccloader, cccontrols, grid switcher and compose for ios 7.
Unfortunately vertex supports none of these.
Also the fact that control center is returned to defau on the lockscreen just doesn’t do it for me. So the fact is I can only use vertex while my device is unlocked and when it’s locked I have to deal with stock ios control center.
This just does not do it for me, maybe in the future there will be some updates and these issues will be resolved but until then I’ll keep what I have.

  • Eni

i am waiting for Polus, when its going to release?

  • Dani Hayes

It’s been on pirate repo for a few days now. Just bought it this morning and its fine. I wish it had the option to keep the regular ControlCenter. I like this with Multitasking Gestures.

  • Jonathan

I think it looks pretty bad on 3.5 inches (4/4S)
Think i would be waiting for Auxo 2 instead.

  • h4nd0fg0d

Meh, tried it and wasn’t impressed. Uninstalled.

  • Micaiah Martin

One thing I wish it was compatible with is “No slow animations”. Returning to the homescreen is a slow animation on this tweak. Also the touch area for the cards needs to be a little bigger. All in all though, this is a great tweak!

  • Alexander Reimann

Anyone missing toggles on the iPad? I have the iPad mini 2 and no toggles show. Works fine on the iPhone 5s. Not super convinced of the advantage of combining both control center and app switcher, since I usually only need one or the other…

  • RV

What happens when you swipe up while you’re in an app? does it show a grabber at first swipe?

  • Toon

I bought vertex yesterday and after 2 hours i uninstall it and install back Sicarius, I’m disappointed in vertex

  • Jess

    Does it work with CCsettings?

  • jabar

It’s can be on use iPadmimi retina or not plz ?

  • LeMerlot

…convinced me (together with IntelliScreenX) finally to upgrade to iOS7. Great tweak!

  • http://www.linkedin.com/in/nicholasahorvath Nick Horvath

Can’t believe I bought this. It gets rid of the clock, camera and calculator in CC. I use the clock with CCClockOpenToAlarm and use the calculator quickly all the time too. It also wasn’t as responsive.

    • http://www.linkedin.com/in/nicholasahorvath Nick Horvath

If those features get added to use those functions in an update I will definitely start using it, but for now I will just be using CCControls

  • hdofu

It causes a serious bug with intelliscreenx letting people bypass the lock screen passcode if you navigate beyond home and back in intelliscreen

  • Toufique Morshed

i have bought vertex in cydia and it says the requested modifications cannot be applied due to required dependencies or coflicts that cannot be automatically found or fixed. (Depends Flipswitch) what do i need to disable to get this working????? help!
