Terminology MainWhen you write a lot, you find yourself looking for new words and better ways to express yourself. I regularly check out dictionaries and thesauruses to try to expand my vocabulary. There are a lot of words in the English language and a lot ways to define some of them.

Terminology 3 is a browser for the English language that gives you the ability to define terms, research phrases, and increase your knowledge of words. Before you know it, you’ll be talking like a scholar…

With Terminology, you will have full offline access to a U.S. English dictionary and word references that include simple definitions. Plus, each term includes synonyms, antonyms, and word relationships, such as “pertains to” or “similar to” so you can get a deeper understanding of the word or phrase you are looking up.

Terminology 12You can put frequently used words into your Favorites list and view your term browser history if you want to be reminded of a word that you have already looked up.

One of the unique features of this app is that you can set custom actions to browse your current term on a website or even look it up in another app that supports URL scheme integration. For example, you can look up more information about a word by using a quick action to view the term on Wikipedia, Google, or Urban Dictionary. You can also trigger Terminology to open a compatible app to search a word or phrase. You can add any website or app with compatible URL scheme integration via x-callback-url.

Terminology 1You can export and share definitions, favorites, and history lists, as well as, store your lists in Dropbox. Additionally, you can sync between devices using iCloud so that all of your term lookups will be available on any of your iOS devices.

Terminology 3 is also compatible with Instapaper, Drafts, Phraseology, Mr. Reader, Writing Kit, and Writeup. So, you can lookup and select replacement words right from within those compatible apps.

Terminology is available for $2.99 on the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. Download it in the App Store today.
