Is it worth getting off the beta 7 and going back to 6.1.3 just incase wincom does release a jailbreak ? ..I needed to try ios 7 because my upgrade is overdew and i’am still not sure on weather to stick with IOS..been using it from the beginning.. And I hate to say it but android has got a lot better.. I’ll Wash my mouth out with soap for saying that.

I can only warn you. Do not switch to android! It is not bad or anything but in no way as solid and convenient as iOS. I bought a Nexus 4 half a year ago, it was my first smartphone having had a jailbroken iPad 2 for over one year and I though: hey its cheap (still a very valid argument) and its way more customizable right out of the box(not true). Though I have to say it has some very nice touches like long pressing the dot on the keyboard produces a comma, the swipe keyboard, expandable and swipeable notifications( making it easier for e.g. to mark a reminder as done), Widgets(yes there are some cool ones) and the great sharing option which allows you to share things like photos through the photos app through all other apps not the other way around how it is handled in iOS. Those are indeed some very cool features, but they are not enough to ad up to a good user experience.

Had to make a second post because disqus started lagging

First of all the lock screen sucks. The pattern unlock lags, when you use the number pad you have to press enter and there are no lock screen notifications(yes there are apps but they aren’t nearly as good as the simple swipe in iOS). Second it is ugly. There are some good looking apps, but over all there are more ugly ones. Even worse the design is very inconsistent, even the google apps do not follow the same guideline not to speak of all the apps on the store. Speaking of apps there is definitely a lack of top quality apps. The voice assistant in my opinion even though it is better for facts is not as good as Siri because it is inconsistent and at least in my language doesn’t even work to call someone.
Some other feature that is highlighted when people talk about android is that you can set default apps and yes it is cool, but there is no central way to customize it meaning that every time you click on a link in a new app you have to chose which browser you want to use, same thing with notifications there is no preference pane to turn them on or of for different apps you have to go to the apps settings.

Last thing: customization. This is androids biggest lie. Coming from the jailbreak I came to think of customization as smaller or bigger tweaks you could install and then change your device. Well Android thinks of customizations as whole roms/os that you flash and than have new features, but then however your stuck with the features of the rom.
There are a handful of apps which could be compared to the way you customize your iOS device with a jailbreak, but just a handful.
Summing up I probably would not buy the Nexus4 again, if you are with iOS stay with it. It lacks some cool Android features but it is al lot more solid. iOS is like a good old Mercedes it just works. Android is like a pimped up cheap asian car it might look cool at first, but it starts getting on your nerves the longer you us it.

Can I just say thanks for what has to be a very convincing reason to stick with IOS..

    • himynameisBLiNK

      beta 7?

      • Matthew

        Was wondering the same thing.

      • Burge

Is it that hard to understand.. Ios 7 betas or the betas of ios 7

    • Jimothy

Winocm isn’t releasing a tool. All he released was source code and is calling it “DIY Jailbreak”.

      • Burge

        When were and how

      • Jimothy

Already been released via twitter. You have to find your own exploits to do it. I have none.

What about iDB switching its logo!

    • suitjackets

      I love it.

      • Matthew

So do I! I was just joking like they should put it in the top articles.

      • suitjackets

        Yep :-)

I also love the Top Stories of the Week logo.

      • Matthew

Yeah. I bet these new logos were part of Sebastiens’s site projects. Also, do you think this has to do with iOS 7 or do you think it’s just because? I think iOS 7.

      • suitjackets

I do think it has to do with iOS 7 — on Sebastien’s Instagram feed, he showed a preview and said something about iOS 7.

      • Matthew

Oh I’m not on Instagram didn’t see it.

      • http://www.iDownloadBlog.com Sebastien

Yes the logo redesign was inspired by iOS 7. We couldn’t keep the old logo with the download bar. It was just outdated when Apple unveiled iOS 7 for the first time. I’m glad everybody loves the new logo.
