How to jailbreak iOS 6.0.1

By , Nov 1, 2012

iOS 6.0.1 was just released a few minutes ago, but we’ve already confirmed it can be jailbroken right now using the existing jailbreak tools for iOS 6.

Although RedSn0w was recently updated to 0.9.15b3, the update doesn’t yet include support for iOS 6. That’s okay, because you can still point at the already supported iOS 6 firmware and successfully jailbreak iOS 6.0.1.

Check inside for the full video walkthrough that shows how.

Note: This is a tethered jailbreak for pre-A5 devices (iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 4th generation) only.

Step 1: Download RedSn0w 0.9.15b3 and iOS 6.0 for your specific device from our Downloads page.

Step 2: Connect your device to your computer and place it into DFU mode.

Step 3: Open RedSn0w, and ensure it detects your device.

Step 4: Click Extras > Select IPSW, and select the iOS 6.0 firmware for your device. It should successfully identify the build.

Step 5: Go back to the main RedSn0w page and click Jailbreak. RedSn0w will process, and then allow you to install Cydia, which should be already checked on the next screen. Click Next, and the jailbreak will finish processing and begin on your iPhone. Keep RedSn0w open.

Step 6: Once the jailbreak is complete and you are back on your device’s Lock screen, place your device back into DFU mode.

Step 7: On the main page of RedSn0w click Extras > Just boot. This will perform a tethered boot. Your device should reboot with a pineapple logo.

Step 8: Once the device reboots, you should see Cydia on the Home screen.

That’s it, you’re finished! For more info on RedSn0w be sure to check out our dedicated RedSn0w page.

Hi Jeff, I have a 3GS old bootrom and I wounder know if is there a untethered jailbreak for IOS 6.1.3. I had to reset my I Phone and since aparently Cydia have loosed our previous IOS 6, I had to jailbreak with IOS 4.1 but I am now stuck with it. I have tried to jailbreak the IOS 6.1.3 with redsn0w and sn0wbreeze and it is not working. It work but I never be able to get any signal. It keep saying no service or rooming. Now I am on IOS 4.1(8B117) with 06.15.00 baseband. ( I can get signal only with baseband 06.15.00) any other baseband is not working.
Do you have any solution that I didn’t think already.
Any help will be very appreciated.
    Thank you

  • きつねけん

i had done this before and it works great! though it’s tethered, i can still use most of my apps when restarted normally. i just cant use some few useless (for me) apps so it doesnt matter if this is tethered. Still waiting for ios7 to be released!

I’ve seccessfuly preserved my current baseband via snowbreeze then jailbreaked via redsnow and I did it without any errors I have updated from ios 5.0.1 because tommorrow will be ios 7 released and the apple will stop signing ios 6.1.3 thats why i have updated
    note!
For those who gets .plist problem while “just boot” just restart your device and select ios 6.0 in redsnow in redsnow extra tab select IPSW

I tried to jailbreak on my iPod 4G version 6.1.3 and when I loaded the jailbreak, it says failed to decrypt kernel. Can you help me?

    • Danny switcher

Open redsnow as administrator first go to extras>selecte ipsw> point it on the IOS 6.0 not 6.1.3 then the redsnow it self will verify the ipsw then go back to menu and click jailbreak

      Beware of
1: disable firewall, antivirus before starting the jailbreak procedure

2: after a success jailbreak, you need to boot it cause it is tethered jailbreak, for this method you need to go to extras click (select ipsw) open IOS 6 then put your device in DFU mode and click (just boot)

Hi Jeff can I jailbreak my iPhone 3gs ios 6.1.3

  • Jack Smerdon

    Redsn0w says:
“Missing Keys.plist data for this build:

    Device: iPod Touch 4G
    ECID: *************************
    Build: iPod4,1_6.1.3_1-B329″
Any idea why this occurs? I’m guessing because my version isn’t supported.. But I’m not sure as the page that i was directed from said that I could?

  • Greg Syiemlieh

Hi Jeff, I was wondering if i could do the same thing with my iPhone 3GS with 6.1.3 as the OS and if so should i downgrade it or??? Because i saw the blog earlier and what i downloaded was only the restore file. So while jailbreaking do I just choose that file or do I have to download something else/downgrade it. (First time Jailbreaker) hope you dont mind.
