SpotLock is a new jailbreak tweak that allows you to lock your iPhone simply by swiping over to the place where Spotlight search normally resides. Granted, this tweak will totally eliminate the ability to use Spotlight search, but I believe the popular consensus is that many of you don’t use Spotlight to begin with.

Of course, a quick press of the sleep button at the top of your iPhone is the quickest way to secure your iPhone from a software perspective, but SpotLock is an interesting way to break the monotony and switch things up a bit…

SpotLock contains no settings or Home screen icons; just install it and go. If you feel like trying it, then head over to Cydia’s BigBoss repo where you can download it for free.

As always, let me know what you think in the comment section about SpotLock. Would you use it?

Use activator to access spot search.

I agree. I use my spotlight page for my htc weather widget and the occasional random search.

      • I use quicklock tweak, it adds a lock device icon on my Springboard and I leave it in the dock so that it’s easily accessible and that way I don’t lose any functionality of my phone if I ever want to use spotlight

        Exactly same !
The only space I’d find for HTC Weather widget was SpotLight page.

  • You can even take a screen-shot by swiping to lock and pressing the home p button.

  • Seems like my kinda tweak! Though I installed it and it doesn’t play nice with one of my tweaks – possibly Unfold / Cleverpin / Springtomize 2. When I unlock it, the SpringBoard icons aren’t in the correct position. Hopefully a quick bug fix will be pushed by the dev, seems like a nice tweak 🙂

Works for me. My sleep button is broken.

I use spotlight search more than any other feature on iOS. I don’t even know most of my 98 apps are. Just go to spotlight and i’m good to go. Contacts, SMS etc too

Really? I use it all the time, it’s easier than digging through folders to find what I’m looking for. I would miss it if it were gone.

what might make this tweak even cooler is to remove unlock slider and make swiping left on lockscreen to unlock…

so you swipe right on homescreen to lock and swipe left on lockscreen to unlock

    the total cooler experience! 🙂

  • Nice! I have a case that is nice but stiff. And the power button it very stiff & hard to push. This tweak is a great addition to my arsenal. Thanks Jeff.
