Pod2g adds iPad 3,3 support to Absinthe, as 5.1.1 jailbreak release nears

For those of you who haven’t been keeping up with the latest jailbreak news, let me get you up to speed. Earlier this week, we learned that we could see the 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak drop as early as this week. We even saw a video of it in action.

And now that pod2g, MuscleNerd, and several other iOS hackers are in Amsterdam at the Hack In The Box conference, expect to see news regarding the 5.1.1 jailbreak to ramp up. In fact, pod2g just gave as another quick update on his progress…

“OK just added iPad3,3 support to Absinthe thanks to @flawlessfox. Only remains iPad2,4 now but we need the actual device.

Any people of #HITB2012AMS has an iPad2,4? Model number: either MC954 or MC989. Please check in Settings / General / About”

With only one device left to add to Absinthe 2.0, it looks like we could very well see the 5.1.1 jailbreak drop this week. There’s even talk that the Chronic Dev Team and company might release it Friday, during the Dream Team’s HITB keynote.

        When the iPad 2 came out there was wifi = iPad 2.1
        Wifi 3G = iPad 2.2
        Wifi Verzion . = iPad 2.3
        I think thats correct ..
        Now when the new iPad got released there also released the iPad 2 2.4. It has a new chip that uses less power.. There was even a post on here about it..

    This is great news. I wish I had an iPad2,4, I would gladly let them have their way with it ;-) . I cannot wait to JB my 4S for the first time. It will be like night and day, my iPad1 has been jailbroken since launch day (I think) but is a bit slow and low on memory with the MS tweaks that I have on it. I am definitely going to donate to them. Great work guys!

    For reference, iPad3,3 is the international version of the new iPad with 3G/LTE; iPad2,4 is the modified 2012 iPad 2.

    I am new tio iphone and recently starting following you over the twitter. You guys are doing a great job. Congrats.
    I have a locked iPhone4. I was using Gevey and it was working okay until I upgraded to iOS 5.1.1 & bandwidth 04.12.01. Will absinthe2 help jailbreak?
    Is there any step by step tutorial that can help? I have a windows PC.

      If your on 5.1.1 then there is no way to jailbreak as of right now. But if you follow this website, then you will know the minute the Jailbreak is released. We are anticipating sometime this week. We hope Friday is going to be #funday

    Hey Jailbreakers I have a question.
    I was looking around and saw that siri will not be able to work on jailbroken devices. Do you think that in the near future jailbroken devices may start to be blocked from using certain apps?

    I do know that android has started to use some kind of newer licensees for applications.
