iPhoto for iOS now available on App Store for $4.99

By , Mar 7, 2012

Apple has just released its promised iPhoto for iOS to the iTunes App Store. The new app, available for both the iPhone and iPad, will allow you to edit  and manage your photos on the go for only $4.99…

Use simple gestures to quickly sort through photos and find your best shots. A powerful set of Multi-Touch tools helps you perfect color and exposure, crop, straighten, and retouch images. Enhance pictures by adding beautiful, Apple-designed effects with just a tap. Or use fingertip brushes to apply adjustments exactly where you want them. In addition to posting photos to Facebook, Flickr, and Twitter, you can beam photos between your iPhone and iPad, stream photos and slideshows to your Apple TV with AirPlay, and use iCloud to publish photo journals to the web to share your stories with friends and family in a whole new way.

You can purchase iPhoto for iOS on the iTunes App Store for $4.99. Sadly, the app is only available for iOS devices running iOS 5.1. We’ll be back soon with a hands-on of the new app.

And it requires iOS 5.1 which I should’ve checked before buying it with no hesitation. Not to mention that the updates to Pages, Numbers, Keynote, and iMovie needs 5.1 too :(

I’m not updating since I’m keeping my 4S jailbreak. If there’s a workaround on getting them installed, please tell!

i did the same thing… i guess its paid for when thers a work around ill wait for others to say if changing firmware version with ifile works around this or not

I can confirm that editing SystemVersion.plist in System/Library/CoreServices to 5.1 got around the restriction but iPhoto crashes when it’s trying to create a library. Maybe it’s because I had PhotoAlbums+ installed but I removed it and it still crashes.

iMovie, Keynote, Numbers, and Pages got updated with this spoof. I HIGHLY recommend changing the version back after though. In Cydia no matter what you try to install/uninstall, the Corona Untether will queue itself for uninstall.

Yeah, I tried this work around myself and got the same thing. Pity. iPhoto looks like a great tool. Hoping some of the smarter minds in the jb community come up with a workable solution.

Totally want this but not updating to 5.1 until JB! Looks really nice though.

You can change the name of your iOS version using ifile , and then you can download app that support that version.

I tried and didnt seem to work for me. i didnt try through the app store on the phone i just bought it in the app store on the computer and tried transfering it to phone but it says a newer version is required. i changed SystemVersion.plist to 5.1 and also tried the productbuildversion string to the new one. ive never done this before so i could just be doing something wrong anyhow thats why i was origianly going to wait for someone else to try it out

You have to reboot after changing it

Sucks about the fact its only available for 5.1, iPhoto looks phenomenal, they have done a really great job with it, and just like Apple its so polished. This could almost replace instagram for me, being able to do quick professional editing and then upload to facebook was one of the reason’s I used Instagram, and this is better by leaps and bounds. Really impressed, cant wait to put my photos on it.
