Want to launch apps, reboot, respring, or turn off your iDevice right from your Spotlight search? If so, then all you need is a jailbroken device with CommandSpot installed.

CommandSpot is a jailbreak tweak that allows you to execute specific commands to launch apps, Twitter, Facebook, and quite a few other things. It’s not the most efficient way to perform these functions, but it can be done nonetheless.

I have to say that I don’t really see the point of doing this. It’s much, much slower than just launching apps the old fashion way, and it’s even worse when Apple’s autocorrect kicks in and throws off your command.

Not only that, but there are a lot of Spotlight tweaks already that perform similar functions in a more efficient manner.

CommandSpot is available on Cydia for free. If you decide to take it for a spin, let us know what you thought about it.

Well if you’re like me and have a boatload of apps on your phone, this is actually very “efficient”. Going through and finding Facebook or Twitter takes longer than just swiping right and typing “Tw” or “Fb” which I quite like. Plus opening settings then going to wifi is slower than just typing Wifi. Pretty efficient.

  • why would anyone need to respring? naturally i’m not referring to when required by cydia, winterboard. but this tweak offers it and so does SBSettings…but when do people do this? i’ve been jailbreaking since 1.1.4 and have never had a reason.

A lot of modifications made to files within the phone require a respring to take effect, i’m of course referring to when you manulayy change files like sms bubbles, folder icons and switcher linen etc.

Well sometimes when one of your app’s icons go blank or other petty issues like that, I think it’ll be useful.

I agree that actually having to type out the words is not very fast and efficient………………………….And is faster, if not just as fast as just tapping your way to the desired location………………..At least it was free………………Plus……………….i either disable everything from spotlight except apps…….or I just disable spotlight all together.(which is what i have now…a disabled spotlight page……….so it’s not even there)

They aren’t “words”, “Tw” is not a word, “Fb” is not a word either. lol

  • SearchCommands btw 😛
