As you may have heard, Apple has released another iPhone 3.0 beta. There’s not much to write about. The update is mainly to improve performance. How do we feel about it?

We have mixed feelings here… and we are a bit confused honestly. Although sometimes and in some places we thought “They fixed it”, it then went rogue. The OS is sucking up a lot of RAM. Of  course remember we tested this on a 1G iPod Touch. As you may remember after we posted about 3.0 here we had the chance to play with 3.0 on an iPhone 3G for a few minutes. The user said it was better than any other OS had run on his iPhone. And for the minutes we played with it, it seemed so.

Nothing new so far. There’s now a mysterious “Store” option / button in the Settings page. But when you tap it, it’s blank. Hmmm….

Other than that the other new thing we found is that the recovery mode thing is now purple?! Oh and picture MMS is working and other sites are reporting video MMS is also working. That’s about it guys.

Oh, how could I forget?! You now have 11 pages.  Go crazy with apps!!

For now that’s it. Let us know in the comments if you want to know anything and we’ll try to make you happy 😛 .

P.S: Maybe the purple recovery mode logo was an April Fool’s joke from Apple. After all they did release a blank album on iTunes (seriously!! Three blank tracks): iTunes Link

“The OS is sucking up a lot of RAM.”

Do you mean its sucking up even more RAM than before??? That would suck ALOT! I mean, they´re supposed to be optimizing stuff, not the opposite

Hey, video mms? How’s that? Receive or send? You can capture video on the iPhone now?

How about dial from calendar or paste # into the phone app if copied from calendar( which clippy allows me to do)? Thanks!

  • Zapp Jackson

Any text from any app can be copied and pasted.
(unless, of course the developer of the app decides to use images instead of text)
    hope this answers your question.

Also, (forgot to say this in first post)
i don’t know if you can dial straight from MobileCal, Because i do not have an iphone. i am running the firmware on my ipod touch 2G.
again, hope this answers your question.

The firmware may suck up lots of RAM, but i find the second beta runs pretty fast on my 2G iPod.
