Office mobile apps will soon sync to Dropbox

Software giant Microsoft has partnered with Dropbox, the hot cloud-storage startup that Steve Jobs once wanted to buy for $800+ million, to give Office users across desktop, mobile and the web built-in access to Word, Excel and PowerPoint files in their Dropbox, the firms said Tuesday.

Apple seeds first iOS 8.1.1 beta to developers

Apple has seeded the first beta of iOS 8.1.1 this evening, with build number 12B432. The release comes just a few hours after Apple pushed out the first beta of OS X Yosemite 10.10.1, and roughly two weeks after it officially launched iOS 8.1 to the public.

Folks who are jailbroken may want to hold off from updating, until it's clear that this won't hamper the Pangu Untether in anyway. Otherwise, feel free to check it out, although you'll likely disappointed—we're not expecting much more than bug fixes here.

Pangu Untether updated to 0.4 with fix for random app crashes on 32-bit devices

As promised, the Pangu team has updated the Pangu iOS 8 – iOS 8.1 Untether package in Cydia to version 0.4 today. The update includes a fix for random application crashes on 32-bit devices—iPod 5, iPhone 4s/5, iPad 2/3/4 and the original iPad mini—particularly with Safari.

The update follows version 0.3, which was released over the weekend to fix an overheating issue in jailbroken 32-bit devices. The update was pulled shortly after it hit, due to users reporting "mild to serious issues" with the package, but the issue was resolved and it was re-posted.

New report says iPad Pro will be 7mm thin with a 12.2-inch display

Apple's upcoming iPad Pro will feature a 12.2-inch display, and be nearly as thin as an iPhone 6 (6.9mm), according to a new report from Macotakara. Citing reliable sources, the Japanese outlet says the device will also contain stereo speakers, and a microphone, on both its top and bottom edges.

Additionally, the outlet claims that the design of the device is largely based on the iPad Air 2, and it has provided a rough sketch of the tablet, which you can see above. There's not much to the illustration, but there does seem to be a row of what looks like speaker holes across the device's top bezel.

Apple updates WWDC app with iPhone 6 support

Apple on Friday issued a small update to the official iPhone and iPad application for the Worldwide Developers Conference, its annual pilgrimage for developers which traditionally takes place each summer at San Francisco's Moscone West.

Now sitting at version 2.1.3, the updated software brings out support for the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus screen sizes.

Furthermore, it resolves a bug that would crash the software at launch on devices running iOS 8 or later.

WWDC is available free in the App Store.

Spotify for iPad overhauled with dark UI, gains Your Music feature

Spotify, the leading music-streaming service hailing from Sweden, gave its iPad app on Thursday a little love. For starters, the team has crafted Skype for iPad's user interface around an all-new dark look.

As a result, Spotify at last has consistent appearance on the iPad, iPhone and Mac — down to the same dark theme, precise typography and rounded iconography.

Moreover, the Your Music feature which debuted in the iPhone edition in April 2014 is now available on the iPad, too. Representing a better way to save, organize and browse your favorite songs, Your Music is a replacement to user-generated playlists. With Your Music, you can add tracks which sync across every device, without having to create playlists or use the starring feature that lumps all starred songs into a huge list.

Download Spotify free of charge in the App Store.
