Photoshop Express can now remove blemishes, reduce fog and haze in photos and more

Having received a major update in May adding features like new brushes, a Quick Selection tool and more, the past month or so has marked a relatively quiet period for Adobe's Photoshop Express software for the iPhone and iPad.

But as Apple confirms ceasing development of its Mac photography software, Aperture, Adobe has renewed its commitment to the platform.

First, they're helping Aperture customers migrate to its Lightroom software and now Adobe's made the newly updated Photoshop Express 3.4 even more useful with such additions as blemish removal, a new DeFog tool and more...

LinkedIn reboots its Contacts for iPhone app as LinkedIn Connected

After retiring CardMunch, its standalone iPhone app for scanning business cards, in favor of Evernote’s business card scanning service last month, LinkedIn today rebranded another standalone iOS app - LinkedIn Contacts. The app shall be known henceforth as LinkedIn Connected.

The app has been reimagined and redesigned for a much cleaner appearance.

Aside from the name change, the free download has all the same features like its predecessor, but more advanced than before and with "much more focus on strengthening your relationships"...

Apple posts iTunes U 2.0 update with Discussions, creation tools and more

Keeping true to its promise to release a much-improved iTunes U version 2.0 on July 8, Apple today posted the update to the App Store. Now available free of charge for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad, iTunes U 2.0 finally allows educators to create, edit and manage entire courses, directly on their iPad.

Readdle updates Documents with background music, e-book reader, iPhone add-ons and more

Back in February, Ukrainian developer Readdle gave its Documents for iOS app a thorough makeover, adding features like a much polished iPad interface with iOS 7-friendly styling, in-app integration with other Readdle apps, a brand new file manager and much more.

Available today, the free Readdle Documents 5.1 download expands on the app's features set with further improvements.

If you import audio files into Documents, the app now lets you play music in the background so you can, say, read a PDF document as the music plays. Speaking of PDFs, the new Documents at last includes a full-featured e-book reader...

Foursquare refreshes Swarm with better check-ins, easier sharing and other enhancements

Foursquare, the popular location-based social networking service, back in May took all the gamified features out of its main iOS client - the mayorships, check-ins, leaderboards, achievements and what not - and created a new app around them, Swarm. As a result, the main Foursquare app is now focused on place discovery , not the check-ins.

The lightweight Swarm app makes it easy to see who’s out nearby, who’s doing what, who wants to hang out later and more. Today, the app has received a refresh bringing out several new features.

EasyJet deploys iBeacon support to select airports

iBeacon, an indoor micro-positioning service by Apple, is among the technologies in their ascendancy. Like Passsbook, iBeacons are being slowly but surely rolled out by the ever-growing number of retailers, merchants, theme parks, sporting venues, festivals and so forth.

A number of capable turnkey systems for easy iBeacon deployment exist today and the tiny transmitters are dirt cheap, removing an important barrier to iBeacon adoption.

You can now put European airline easyJet on your list of iBeacon-friendly businesses.

The British airline carrier based at London Luton Airport is operating domestic and international scheduled services on over 600 routes in 32 countries and now customers can download its freshly-updated iPhone app and opt in to receive in-app iBeacon notifications at select locations “to enhance the in airport experience”...
