Following its big iPhone 7 event this morning, Apple gave journalists the opportunity to go hands-on with some of the new products it announced today including the iPhone 7, Apple Watch Series 2, and AirPods. And as usual, we've rounded up some videos of these first impressions so you can get a better look at the new hardware.
Apple's iPhone lineup just got even better as of Wednesday's product unveiling. Not only are the devices super fast, more power-efficient, and available in new finishes, but they also come with a slew of new finishes that owners of previous-generations of iPhone will drool over.
In this piece, we'll compare the iPhone 7 to the iPhone 6s so you have an idea of the differences in size, weight, and even their expected battery life.
Apple's new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are the first dust and water resistant iPhones with IP67 protection, meaning they're 100 percent resistant to dust and sand and should survive being submerged in about a meter of water for up to 30 minutes. The devices have waterproofed components like the buttons, the chassis and the SIM tray.
Plus, they most likely use gaskets and seals like other water resistant phones. But if water does make its way into the device and damages it, don't count on Apple to replace it at no charge because liquid damage is not covered under its warranty.
Apple has posted the product videos shown during today's iPhone 7 event to its YouTube channel. Included in the spots are clips showing off the Apple Watch Series 2, the iPhone 7, and the all-new, wireless, in-ear headphones it's calling "AirPods."
Of course if you missed the keynote this morning, we recommend watching a replay of it in its entirety, or at the very least check out this humorous highlight reel. But for folks who just want to get to the meat of the event, these videos will do the trick.
Today's Apple event was very busy for the iPhone and for the Apple Watch, but one thing that kind of flew under the radar was the Mac. At the keynote, Apple made it clear that macOS Sierra would be released to the public on September 20th.

One of the things that sets the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus apart from the rest of the iPhone lineup is the exclusion of the 3.5mm headphone jack. Apple is now requiring headphones to either go wireless or utilize the Lightning port.
Apple's new Jet Black finish for the iPhone 7 looks breathtaking, but here comes the bad news: it could scratch all too easily though not on the #Scuffgate level. According to Apple itself, the highly glossy back of your iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus may show “fine micro-abrasions” with use.
In fact, the company is recommending that would-be shoppers buy a case to help keep their handset in pristine condition.
Despite not mentioning the iPad once during today's iPhone 7 event, Apple has issued some minor updates to select models in its tablet line. For starters, all standard iPads have had their base storage option doubled from 16GB to 32GB.
This change brings the iPad family inline with Apple's just-announced iPhone 7 storage options, and it applies to the iPad mini 2, iPad mini 4, and the iPad Air 2. The nice thing is that all of these models will stay at their current prices.
It's easy to get lost in an avalanche of today's Apple event reporting so it bears repeating that those looking to upgrade their cell phone experience to that gorgeously designed high-gloss black-clad iPhone 7, which Apple refers to as “Jet Black”, will need to opt for a more capacious—and pricier—128GB model.
In other words, people looking to pick up an entry-level 32GB iPhone 7 in Jet Black, which costs $649 contract-free, will be out of luck.
I'm sure you know that Apple's new iPhone 7 series brings two new finishes to the mix, replacing the previous Space Gray colorway.
Both are black, but one gives you classic anodized matte appearance while the other results in a highly glossy look and feel. The matte one is called simply Black and the glossy is referred to as Jet Black.
