Twitter for iPhone Updated to Make “Quick Bar” Less Annoying

The official Twitter app was recently updated with some significant changes. Among other new features, Twitter decided to add the "Quick Bar" to the top of the timeline.

Twitter had good intentions with the Quick Bar; it was designed to help users keep a better tab on trending topics. As topics trend, they push through the Quick Bar. Tapping a topic will activate the search window for that related hashtag.

People didn't like Twitter's new Quick Bar. And an internet backlash on what was cleverly coined the "Dick Bar" has caused Twitter to push another update that attempts at making the Quick Bar less intrusive.

Simulate Android and Windows Phone 7 on the iPhone With OSFaker

A genius jailbreak app called "OSFaker" allows you to replicate the Android and Windows Phone 7 OS on the iPhone. That's right, now you can easily show off your iPhone's chameleon abilities to your awestruck friends.

OSFaker isn't a complete OS simulator by any means, but it still gives you a nice taste of what Android and Windows Phone 7 feel like. Let's take a closer look...

iPhone 5 to Have Aluminum Back and New Antenna Design?

Apple originally used a plastic back for the iPhone, then they switched to a glass backing for the iPhone 4. The glass back coupled with the antenna issues in the iPhone 4 did not bear well for the device, and it appears that Apple is considering using an aluminum back for the iPhone 5.

A report from the Taiwanese Economic Daily News claims that Apple is abandoning the glass backing from the iPhone 5 in favor of a stronger aluminum covering. The source also suggests that Apple's new antenna will be inside the device's rear Apple logo...

So, what does all this have to do with Windows Phone 7? Microsoft has shown interest in Geohot before, and the company even reached out to him financially for his legal fight against Sony. Geohot will know be using his hacking skills at an upcoming convention to try and jailbreak Windows Phone 7...

iOS 4.3 Will Not Be Compatible With All iDevices

We've gotten questions from readers asking if iOS 4.3 will be compatible with all iDevices. Sadly, the answer is no. The public release of iOS 4.3 that Apple announced at their iPad 2 event will only work on certain iDevice generations.

Most notably, 4.3 will not be installable on the Verizon iPhone. Because the Verizon iPhone runs on a different baseband and has different bugs to fix, Apple has to release a separate 4.3 build for that device. (Which they haven't announced yet.)

Hopefully your iDevice isn't on the 4.3 incompatibility list...

How to Enable Hidden Multitouch Gestures in iOS 4.3 GM on iPhone 4

Remember when we told you about the new multitouch gestures that Apple hid in earlier developer builds of iOS 4.3? Apple has seeded the final developer GM build of iOS 4.3 before the public launch on March 11th, and the very same gestures are still "hidden" inside 4.3.

When the story first broke that there were new gestures in 4.3, the gestures were only enabled on a specific build of 4.3 that wasn't available to the general audience of Apple develepors. In the final GM build of iOS 4.3, these hidden multitouch gestures can be enabled through a jailbreak exploit.

Let's take a closer look...

iOS 4.3 GM Can Be Jailbroken with PwnageTool 4.2 [Tethered]

We have released a detailed tutorial on how to jailbreak the GM developer build of iOS 4.3. Yesterday, Apple seeded the final developer build of iOS 4.3, and the public release of 4.3 will take place on March 11th.

People are wondering if Apple has patched the current jailbreak exploits in their latest version of iOS. Because the iPad 2 runs on different hardware, it will almost definitely need a new exploit for an untethered jailbreak. As far as the iPhone and iPod goes, we'll keep you updated...

How to Remove the New “Quick Bar” in Twitter for iPhone

The official Twitter for iPhone app has been updated with several new features. Unlike previous minor updates, Twitter 3.3 packs some significant changes to the app's interface.

While there are some definite improvements in the app, many users have been complaining that the update does more harm than good…

Apple Seeds iOS 4.3 GM to Develepors

Apple has seeded the iOS 4.3 Golden Master to develepors. This timely release paves the way for 4.3's public release next Friday.

Whenever a GM version of iOS is released, it means that it is nearly ready for deployment. This version of iOS will be made available for all iDevices, except for the CDMA iPhone 4.

Apple’s New HDMI Adapter Also Works On the iPhone 4

Apple recently unveiled the iPad 2. Among other enhancements, Apple announced that the iPad 2 will be able to perform HD video mirroring through Apple's new HDMI adapter.

The adapter plugs into the device's 30-pin connector and automatically mirrors the iPad 2's screen to an external source in 1080p HD. Setup requires no configuration and works instantly when connected.

What Apple didn't say in yesterday's event was that their new Digital AV Adapter will also work on the iPhone 4, 4th gen iPod Touch, and original iPad.
