TrollRecorder JB allows jailbreakers to record their phone calls without TrollStore

At the beginning of March, we showed you a TrollStore add-on called TrollRecorder by iOS developers 82flex and launchctl that allowed users to record their iPhone’s phone calls without a jailbreak. It did, however, require TrollStore, as this is what gave TrollRecorder the elevated privileges necessitated to make this work.

But this week, these same developers are bringing us a new package called TrollRecorder JB, which is being called the jailbreak tweak version of TrollRecorder that doesn’t require TrollStore.

TrollRecorder JB, just like the TrollStore edition of TrollRecorder, allows end users to capture the audio from incoming and outgoing phone calls and review that audio in a dedicated app so that it can be reviewed or disseminated in any way the user sees fit later on.

The beautiful user interface of the TrollRecorder app makes it very easy to browse, view, and listen to recorded phone calls. You can also dial in your preferred settings, including audio quality, automatic recording, notifications, security, playing a warning for the person you’re recording, and more.

We think it’s great that call recordings can be protected being a biometric authentication barrier such as Face ID or Touch ID, because often times when we decide a phone call is important enough to record, it probably has sensitive information in it.

You can also bake in various types of metadata, including your location, and to make call recordings easier to search for.

Since TrollRecorder JB uses Apple’s own Core Audio technology to capture phone call audio, you can be assured that the recordings will be of the highest quality. Every recording gets stored locally on your device and doesn’t get uploaded to any third-party servers in respect of your personal privacy.

We are so impressed with TrollRecorder’s user interface and user experience that it gets an easy 10/10 from us. If you have ever wanted a call recording software for your jailbroken iPhone, then this is probably going to be it.

If you’re interested in giving TrollRecorder JB a try, then you can purchase it for $6.99 from the Havoc repository via your favorite package manager app. If you already own TrollRecorder for TrollStore, then you can get the jailbreak version for 50% off, however the supported jailbroken firmware can all run TrollStore, so it doesn’t make sense for a lot of people to buy this software twice. We suggest simply picking one and enjoying using it.

You can also download and test an unlimited free trial of TrollRecorder by accessing the TrollStore file on the project’s GitHub page. Most of the features are free to use, however paying for the app will unlock much of the powerful features such as auto-startup, removing watermarks, enhancing location-infused metadata, and enhancing post-processing to enrich audio quality and change the file format.
