PurePKG v1.3 released with tons of fixes, delete/reinstall recommended

PurePKG, the newest package manager app for jailbroken and bootstrapped devices, received another update early Thursday morning, this time bringing it up to version 1.3.

PurePKG v1.3 released.

Project lead developer lrdsnow announced the latest update in a post shared to X (formerly Twitter), which linked to the GitHub page where the project is open source and revealed some of what’s new in the latest release.

Citing the change log, PurePKG v1.3 introduces the following changes:

– Optimize the app a bit more
– Changed some defaults
– Fixed the icons
– Revamp the repository handling

According to the change log, it is recommended that users uninstall and reinstall the app. To ensure that the latest changes with repository handling take effect. For me, doing this also fixed a black app icon appearing on my Home Screen, so I would recommend doing this as well.

As an alternative to the usual Sileo and Zebra package manager apps that most modern jailbreak tools recommend to end users or auto-install on their own, PurePKG strives to give users a new user experience with a familiar look and feel if you’ve ever used the PureKFD package manager for Kernel File Descriptor (KFD)-vulnerable devices before.

If you’re already using the PurePKG package manager app, then we recommend uninstalling it and re-installing it from the repository that you already added. If you don’t have that repository for some reason, then you can find it below:

New or prospective users can access PurePKG from the repository above via Sileo or Zebra, or by visiting the project’s GitHub page and downloading the DEB file to be installed manually.
