The FlexiSpot E7 Plus Standing Desk is my new favorite workspace

When it comes to keeping your workspace organized, I can think of no better way than to have the proper table. Yes, that means finding the correct size to fit all your gear, as well as a color that suits your equipment as to help it look like it belongs there.

FlexiSpot’s E7 Plus Standing Desk is as aesthetically-pleasing as it is spacious.

I recently began exploring the health benefits of standing desks to combat a sedentary lifestyle, and for that reason, I procured a FlexiSpot E7 Plus Standing Desk, and rather than try to market it as some “game-changing” product like every other reviewer out there might do, I want to spend more of my time discussing why this table has changed the way I work.

FlexiSpot E7 Plus Standing Desk

First, I’ll introduce you to what I got, and that’s a 60-inch x 30-inch Black Walnut-colored Solid Wood Texture tabletop with a black frame. Since most of my computer accessories, cables, and even my gaming PC have a dark or black aesthetic to them, I felt that this combination both looked great and gave the illusion of an organized workspace. In terms of looks, I feel like the FlexiSpot E7 Plus I ordered checks all the boxes.

You can configure this table however you want, with different tabletop colors and materials, white or black frame, and different table lengths. I recommend going bigger, if you can fit it in your workspace, as this will afford you the most room for your belongings.

The FlexiSpot E7 Plus Standing Desk is a four-leg, dual-motor platform that provides excellent rigidity all around, and in fact, the company touts a 540-pound weight limit at rest and 440-pound weight limit while lifting, which is more than enough to handle anything I’ll ever put on top of it. I mean really… who has 440 pounds worth of computer equipment, let alone 540 pounds?

Dual motors like this one pump the table up and down with ease.

Still, that much confidence in the product’s structural rigidity doesn’t go unnoticed, and when I’m using the table, it doesn’t budge. It’s as solid as a door frame, even when I put my full weight down on just one side. I can probably thank the four dedicated legs for that.

The table’s four square legs are beefy and multi-stage for enhanced stability.

The table, being a standing cable, offers adjustable height that you get to control via a touch pad you attach when building the table for the first time. Not only can you manually adjust the height of the table by tapping on the up or down arrows, but you can map specific heights to the memory buttons so you can quickly put your table at those heights without holding your finger on the touch pad and waiting for it.

The table’s built-in electronic keypad makes adjusting height an effortless endeavor.

I like to assign my table two different heights – one for sitting and one for standing. This way, I can quickly set my table for the workspace I want to work in without fiddling with it to get it just right each time, and instead, it’s more of a ‘set it and forget it’ type of thing.

Kit it out

Another thing I really enjoy about the FlexiSpot E7 Plus is that the brand offers a superfluity of different accessories you can buy to suit the table to your personal needs. For mine, I equipped it with two integrated power strips and a cable organizer underneath.

The cable catch-all tray keeps all my cables tucked away so they don’t dangle to the floor.

The integrated power strips are convenient because you can plug literally everything on your table into them (even the table itself) and then you only have one or two cables plugging into the power socket behind your table. The integrated power strips have on/off switches built right into them as well, allowing you to disconnect from power when not in use to guard against power surges and other unthinkable events.

I can plug everything I have right into the power strips that are integrated into my table.

One of my favorite things, however, would be the cable organizer. While all my previous tables have lacked one, causing a spaghetti of wires behind my workspace that’s unsightly to the eyes and a nightmare to work with when plugging in new equipment, I equipped my FlexiSpot E7 Plus with a cable organizer so that I can neatly tuck all loose wires away into it. This prevents the ‘droopy wires’ look that so many desks suffer from.

While I haven’t ordered any additional accessories currently, FlexiSpot does offer additional things for their desks including:

  • Various cable management options
  • Unver-table PC tower mounts
  • Casters
  • Monitor mounting arms
  • Keyboard trays
  • Above-table power strips
  • Standing desk mats
  • Mouse pads
  • Monitor stands
  • Laptop stands and docking stations
  • Foot hammocks
  • Decorations
  • And more…

Who the FlexiSpot E7 Plus is for

I could go on and on about the FlexiSpot brand and their desk offerings, but I really want to focus on how I’ve been using my FlexiSpot E7 Plus so you can get a better idea about who this desk is really for.

As someone who sits around all day, I consider this desk to be an important investment in one’s health because it gets you up on your feet for at least some of the day, while being flexible enough to let you sit when you feel fatigued. The adjustable nature of the desk is better than a fixed standing desk because those don’t give you the option to work sitting down if you don’t feel like standing up.

The FlexiSpot E7 Plus can comfortably raise to heights that accommodate both short and tall people, even those towering about 6 feet tall. At just near the 6-foot mark, I find this table very comfortable to use without putting my elbows too high or too low.

As a writer, I spend a lot of my time not only writing about topics, but also sitting down and researching. With the FlexiSpot E7 Plus Standing Desk, I can now stand up while I do a lot of this research, which keeps my blood moving better than if I had been sitting down. Likewise, standing up results in improved heart rates that I think keeps the cardiovascular system fitter over time than sitting does.

That said, if you consider yourself to be a sedentary person who wants to improve their health without giving up your computer-based activities, whether that’s gaming, watching videos on YouTube, writing your college paper, or even shopping online, then a standing desk like the FlexiSpot E7 Plus should be on your radar.

Even if you don’t like the idea of standing at the computer, I think the FlexiSpot E7 Plus could still be a useful tool for you. That’s because the adjustable nature of this table makes it easier for people of different heights and sizes to find the ideal table height. Moreover, raising the table up high on demand can make cleaning and a breeze, assisting with regular household chores that many of us wish we could ignore because it’s tedious.

I’ve personally raised my table up to the max height on numerous occasions just so I could vacuum underneath the table without crouching too much, and let me tell you, that kind of flexibility feels absolutely liberating when you deal with any kind of back pain.

I also find that the FlexiSpot E7 Plus’ generous surface space offers a versatile workspace. I’ve changed up my workspace quite a bit in recent weeks, moving from a 24-inch external monitor to a 40-inch ultra-wide monitor alongside large bookshelf speakers and even a gaming PC tower, among other things. The desk feels far from cluttered, and I think there’s plenty of room for me to upgrade any part of my setup down the line as I see fit.

If you’re a gamer, then you’ll like the space because it offers plenty of room for large high-definition monitors. Productive people will enjoy having enough room to run a larger ultra-wide monitor like I do, or even dual monitors without sacrificing any precious workspace. Not only is there room for all my computer equipment, but there’s even room for me to place my camera equipment in front of me, or a piece of paper to write or draw on.

I can’t say enough positive about this desk. But are there any cons at all? Of course. Any product will have those, and I’ll get more into those in the next section.

Has the FlexiSpot E7 Plus had any positive impact on my health? Well, I certainly feel good about my purchase, but I’m sure long-term studies will offer better information on human health than I ever could about the long-term health benefits of standing over sitting.

For example, one study published in the National Library of Medicine at the end of 2021 found that during a four-week period, participants saw reductions in back and shoulder pain and improved productivity, among other things.

Where to get one

If you’re interested in a FlexiSpot E7 Plus Standing Table of your own, then you’re going to want to head over to FlexiSpot’s website and build one yourself. The price ranges from around $630 to $900 depending on the size and configuration you choose, and adding accessories will only make that price larger.

Still, at the end of the day, a configured table may only cost you what you’d spend on an iPhone every year, and considering the convenience to your workspace and the health benefits that standing has over sitting, this may well be an important investment in your health that you should consider over a traditional sitting computer table.

Wrapping Up

Standing computer tables aren’t for everyone, but if you want to find a way to make working at a computer less taxing on your body’s health, then it’s hard to go wrong with a FlexiSpot E7 Plus Standing Desk. You may even consider one of FlexiSpot’s cheaper options if you aren’t sure about spending a lot of money on this type of investment.

Personally, I’ve never been happier with a computer table, and I’m sure to see several years of use out of mine before I finally outgrow it and decide I need a longer table.
