Rootless jailbreak users can now take advantage of MenuSupport

If you frequently use iOS or iPadOS’ built-in text editing tools when dealing with bodies of text on your iPhone or iPad, then you might have a lot to gain from a jailbreak tweak called MenuSupport by iOS developer r_plus.

MenuSupport not only replaces the regular word-based text selection menus with aesthetically-pleasing icons instead, but it also lends a library for other developers to make add-ons for this menu that jailbreakers can take advantage of.

In case you’re unclear about the menu we’re referring to, it’s the black one that pops up after you’ve selected text in an app such Messages, Notes, Safari, or somewhere else that contains the options to cut, copy, paste, and more.

Just this week, MenuSupport added support for rootless jailbreaks on iOS & iPadOS 15 and 16, including Dopamineand palera1n, allowing even those using modern jailbreaks to take full advantage of the benefits MenuSupport brings to the table.

Even if you aren’t adding custom menu options with add-ons, MenuSupport changes the word-based menu items into icon-based menu items, which take up less space and allow you to see more options at a glance.

Once installed, MenuSupport adds a few options you can toggle on or off in the Settings app:

Those options include:

  • Enabling or disabling MenuSupport on demand
  • Enabling or disabling the use of icons instead of text in the menus

Those interested in enhancing their text editing user experience with the MenuSupport jailbreak tweak can download the latest version for free from the Havoc repository via their favorite package manager app.
