The mystery of a dark object shines in these moody silhouette wallpapers for iPhone. Simplistic, dark, and yet still colorful images make for incredible Home and Lock Screen backgrounds. Various foreground subjects give way to incredible scenery in these downloads.

To create the silhouette look, make sure you have a bright background that is then obfuscated by any subject matter. In the case of our wallpapers, these range from trees to people. The foreground subject is only backlight, creating the dark focal point. This allows the background to shine over and around the item of focus.
The following images were curated from unsplash.com, a repository for photographers to host license free downloads. The repo is easily searchable by keyword or profile of specific artists. Each artist name is included in the file name and you can find more from them via the profile links. Each images is unedited from the original, giving you the freedom to set the canvas on your device as preferred. The final image by Joshua Earle would also make an incredible desktop background.
Of the images below, my favorite is hands down the sunset (rise?!) yellow, orange, red, maroon, gradient backlights the centered palm tree. It gives me like an ’80’s Miami vibe. The gradient is just incredible and naturally captured. No matter how many times you try to create a gradient in desktop software, it will never look as great as the real thing.
