When you find yourself a bit curious as to what time it is, you might take a quick glance at your iPhone’s Lock Screen to take advantage of the massive time display iOS shows within the top half of the screen. It works, but we wouldn’t go out of our way to say it’s particularly beautiful.
If you’re interested in something a bit more eye-catching, and perhaps even more functional by way of the kind of information that gets displayed, then we’d advise checking out a newly released and free jailbreak tweak dubbed Klean by iOS developer Ali Maulana.
Klean replaces the stock Lock Screen time display with a quirky, if not somewhat sassy, all-in-one widget that shows the date, day, time, battery level, and current weather conditions in your area. Best of all, the widget can be displayed on both your Lock Screen and Home Screen – although you don’t need to have it on both if you don’t want to. Here’s a glance at what it looks like:
Once installed, Klean adds two preference panes to the Settings app – one for the Lock Screen and one for the Home Screen. They can be configured independently of one another, or you can disable one and enable the other, but both contain the same options and look something like this:
The options provided here include:
- Enabling or disabling the widget on demand
- Hiding the battery information
- Hiding the weather information
- Configuring the day font size via a slider
- Choosing custom color selections for the following:
- Day
- Shapes
- Text
- Clock
- Configuring the X axis positioning via a slider
- Configuring the Y axis positioning via a slider
A respring button is provided to the end user at the bottom of the preference pane, allowing for any changed settings to be saved.
One thing worth noting is that if you plan on having the Klean widget on your Home Screen, you’ll need another jailbreak tweak or extension capable of changing the row and column format such that the icons don’t interfere with the widget. Unfortunately, the developer doesn’t provide any such tools in the tweak itself.
Everyone has different tastes, so you may or may not like what Klean brings to the table, but should you decide that you don’t like it, you have the option of not installing the tweak in the first place. Those who like it, on the other hand, may download it for free from the Packix repository via their favorite package manager. Klean supports jailbroken iOS 13 and 14 devices.
