The Status Bar is a persistent element that presents itself in the vast majority of iOS apps and user interfaces. The lone exception to this rule of thumb would of course be full-screen apps such as mobile games, video playback, and a small number of other exceptions.
Despite being hidden from the aforementioned interfaces, iPhone users can open Notification Center to view the Status Bar by swiping down from the top of the display to reveal a grabber and then tugging down on the grabber. Unfortunately, this is a multi-step process and rather cumbersome, and that’s the chief reason why a new jailbreak tweak called Grabbi by iOS developer Arielgavrielov exists.
Grabbi augments the Notification Center grabber found in full-screen interfaces by incorporating pertinent information at a glance without the need to launch Notification center, such as the time and your current battery level. The tweak also lets you customize the grabber’s aesthetics and behavior, among other things.
Once installed, Grabbi adds a dedicated preference pane to the Settings app where you can configure a number of settings to suit your needs:
Here, you can:
- Toggle Grabbi on or off on demand
- Choose between a small, medium, or large Grabbi interface
- Enable and configure a custom Grabbi color
- Hide or show the Garbbi arrow
- Enable and configure a custom Grabbi arrow color
- Hide or show your device battery level via Grabbi
- Enable and configure a custom font size for the device battery
- Choose a custom battery font color
- Configure a custom X coordinate for the battery indicator
- Configure a custom Y coordinate for the battery indicator
- Hide or show the time via Grabbi
- Enable and configure a custom font size for the time
- Choose a custom time font color
- Configure a custom X coordinate for the time indicator
- Configure a custom Y coordinate for the time indicator
- Reset settings to their defaults
- Respring to save your changes
Obviously, there’s room to go all out with your Grabbi user interface with custom colors and font sizes, but some might prefer to keep things simple by merely displaying the time and battery level as they come. To each their own, we always say.
