iPhone X shipping times saw improvements to one to two weeks across the board this week. This triggered speculation that weak demand for Apple’s latest flagship might have been the cause of these improved delivery dates.

Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities refutes this speculation, instead reporting that Apple has made significant supply chain improvements that are responsible for these accelerated shipping estimates.

It was previously claimed that the TrueDepth camera module was the primary culprit of production delays, while Kuo reported that issues were amplified by a shortage of liquid crystal polymer LTE antennas.

Kuo now reports that these production issues have been largely resolved, reporting diversified sourcing of LTE antennas along with improved yields of the dot projector component of the TrueDepth camera system. Specific numbers reveal that the LTE antenna production from new supplier Career are projected to expand by 100% in November and another 100% in December. Furthermore, dot projector yield has been improved to 80-90% compared to the below 60% yield in previous months.

Kuo reports that Foxconn production is now up to 450,000-550,000 units per day, a vast improvement over the 50,000-150,000 units per day production prior to launch.

    • Rowan09

Let me guess because you said so huh?

      • Blip dude

Nope, but still think it’s artificial shortage like every year. I gotta give Apple and Nintendo props though, cause it definitely seems to work in their favor to some extent.

      • Rowan09

We’ve never seen this kind of shortage before with Apple. In regards to phones selling out at launch that’s not an Apple phenomenon. Every year we hear about the Pixel selling out and anytime a Nexus is released the same thing. When the S7 Edge came out it was sold out for a while as well.

When a product is being released to want to meet demand not exceed it. You don’t want to end up in a situation like Microsoft did with the Surface Pro line when it was first released. They tried to predict the success of the product without actually testing the market first and got burned for it.

      • Siri Tim Cook Holness

    • John

So let me understand this, because YOU don’t do if “people” don’t do it? Shit man, just because you want to butcher the English language doesn’t mean everyone else does.

Sure we believe you. Or people are waking up to the fact that this turd called iPhone X is not worth the thousands Apple is asking and there are better value out there. Even the previous gen iPhones are better values.

    • Rowan09

Do you own the phone to call it garbage? I mean it’s fine to dislike something if you actually owned and used it.

    • anon

2 comments?! speaking of polished turds, you seem to fit the bill.

  • nova12

I didn’t plan on getting the X, but I took the plunge on Saturday. Shipping times for me were 1-2 weeks, but there was plenty of stock available in my local Apple Store. just bought it online, made a reservation to pick it up in the store about an hour later, and that was it. 256gb X.

    I’m in the US.
