The Unicode Consortium has proposed adding 51 new emoji to the upcoming Unicode 10 release. Emojipedia points to the filing, which has been posted on the Unicode.org website and features a full list of the suggested new characters.

As you can see in the image above, the proposed emoji include a giraffe, cup with a straw, a vampire and a zebra. And digging through the list in the filing reveals even more interesting images such as “shocked face with exploding head.”

Of course these emoji won’t be available until later 2017, and we probably won’t see them hit iOS until late in the year. Apple just added new [Unicode 9] emoji in iOS 10.2, which is in beta right now and expected to launch in a few weeks.

  • Reportedly these new emojis are reserved for the next major upgrade of MacBook Pro’s.

  • Where is this heading, every single object and emotion having an Emoji-version? isn’t that what google images is for?

I wonder how much these people are paid to do such a job. What a world…

  • Muhammad !

THAT IS NOT A ZOMBIE, THAT IS DRACULA!!!!!!!!!!!!

From the article: “As you can see in the image above, the proposed emoji include a giraffe, cup with a straw, a vampire and a zebra.”

      • :D

        What about the title?

      • Storm

What about it? The title also mentions a sandwich and an exploding head, but they’re not in the image either. It’s almost as if the title of the article isn’t supposed to be a caption for the image, isn’t it?

      • :D

        Almost…

  • RK

It’s a Dracula not a zombie. Also there’s a infant being breastfed. These kind of images are not appropriate for some.

From the article: “As you can see in the image above, the proposed emoji include a giraffe, cup with a straw, a vampire and a zebra.”

Also: I’m curious as to why you consider an emoji depicting an infant being breastfed “not appropriate for some”?

      • :D

Because the baby’s head looks like a hairy boob

    • :D

Oh yeah it is a baby being breastfed. I thought it was a headless person holding their head.

  • :D

Why release Muslim emojis and an exploding head emoji at the same time? That’s not cool.

    • Julio Hernandez

That’s not really offensive? I can see why you would think so but there is no correlation between the two

      • :D

        True

  • Jerwyn Feria

why does one of the emoji looks like a mother breastfeeding

    • Kaptivator

Because that’s indeed what it is.
