QuickSwipe is a new tweak that brings swipe to dismiss functionality to videos playing in mobile Safari. The tweak is extremely simple and focused, contains no preferences, and is good to go upon installation.

After respring, begin playing a video in Safari and perform a swipe down gesture to dismiss the video and go back to the browser. If you find it annoying to have to tap the “Done” button to close a full screen video, then QuickSwipe is a tweak that you may enjoy using.

Here is a GIF animation that shows QuickSwipe in action:

As you can see, QuickSwipe doesn’t add any extra UI elements to the video playing interface. Swiping on the screen basically simulates the tapping of the Done button which will cause the video player to close.

The developer of QuickSwipe, nin9tyfour, created the tweak specifically for Safari, but states that it will probably work in other apps that play videos as well.

This seriously needs to be built into iOS

    • Inseltraeumer

Videos should simply be dismissed when they are over. Imo, that should have been implemented in iOS since 2007.

Has anyone verified if this works in other apps? I don’t use Safari

instead of swipe down, make it swipe up to dismiss video just like in facebook, telegram and whatsapp app. Anyway, thanks for the tweak. it is good.

it would be cooler if the animations were smoother like in Facebook but nonetheless, this tweak is very practical!

what tweak can move forward 30s after swipe right or backward when swipe left?

  • Reading all the comments here, I think @nin9tyfour has a lot of work left on this (awesome plugin)

Swipe up would be much better I think..
