Looking to add special enhancements to the dock on your iPhone? If so, then look no further than DockWare for iOS 8. The follow up to the original DockWare for iOS 7 devices, the sequel brings the ability to access the dock while within apps, hide the dock while on the Home screen, and invoke the dock using a handy Activator gesture.

Once you install DockWare, you’l need to open the Settings app to configure the tweak’s preferences. DockWare’s preferences are broken up into two main sections: In App Behavior, and Home screen Behavior. Both sections feature similar settings with a few differences found between the two. You’ll also find an Activator section, which is used for establishing the required Activator gesture needed to invoke DockWare.

DockWare Preferences

DockWare allows you to change the behavior of the dock as it comes into view, choose between 8 different in and out animations, and adjust auto hide settings. For the Home screen Behavior section, there’s an inverse mode that allows you to hide all of the Home screen app icons and leave only the dock. This is a nice mode to use if you like to showcase your iPhone’s wallpaper, and don’t want to be distracted by the Home screen app icons.

One of the big DockWare features is the ability to invoke the dock from anywhere, even while within an app. You can even open up a folder while within an app if you have a folder placed within the dock. It’s a little weird looking when you do this, as you’ll denote from the video, but the option exists for those of you who want it. You can blacklist certain apps to prevent the dock from displaying while using that specific app.

DockWare provides both aesthetic and practical features that some may deem useful for their workflows. The tweak is now available for $0.99 on Cydia’s BigBoss repo.

What do you think about it? Would you consider using it on your iPhone?

Is there a way around the dependency requirement for Activator when I try to install this tweak?
I use QuickDo as my gesture tweaks.
I like it better because it has a double tap gesture on any open area on a homescreen to open or activate a app or tweak.
I wish Activator offered this gesture and have reached out to the developer a few times but he has never responded.

The latest beta of activator now has this gesture as well. But to make it even easier, i use the quick-do version which allows activator to be installed as well.

Can you please tell me what the version # is because when I checked 2 weeks ago it still wasn’t offered unless it wasn’t clear as to that gesture.
Also every time I’ve tried to install Activator it removes QuickDo and visa versa. How did you get both on your device?

    great tweak…

sad thing is i just bought a new iphone 6 the other day and its running ios 8.1.3..
i know this is a stupid question but, is there a way i can downgrade to 8.1.2? or 8.1? i love jailbreaking. stock ios sucks big time. not to mention it is very slow.

    thanks guys.

Unfortunately not. Hopefully 8.2 or 8.3 is jail broken rather soon.

        🙁 hopefully…

Just wait for Friday when the Taig jailbreak team has their jailbreak convention going on! Hopefully they’ll announce a jailbreak for 8.2 then 🙂

        Hope so!:)

  • Matthew Ross

Bought it and couldnt wait to try it… now I have to wait 🙂 there is some random conflict with one of my tweaks (I think I know what it is) so sent some logs and hoping for a developer fix soon.

But every time I try to do anything on the home screen with this tweak enabled it trips substrate safemode.

  • john diaz

    I actually like it!

  • Karatekid

Which tweak does that fade effect when you open or close an app?

  • n0m0n

I installed that version but it won’t let me installActivator without deleting this version either.

    • Shaw

Install the released Activator version 1.9.2 , not the latest beta versions. Ryan must have added something new to make these two incompatible.

        Great THANK YOU so much.
Finally can use dockware (since I paid for it) and still have double tap option.

        Thanks again
