Flipboard today released version 3.0 of its iOS client, and as you can imagine, it’s a significant update. The design of the app has been refreshed, and is now more magazine-like and elegant, complete with fresh typography and a new navigation bar for easier browsing.
Additionally, Flipboard has introduced a new ‘Topics’ feature, which is powered by Zite’s technology and Flipboard’s own curators. There are over 30,000 topics to follow, each featuring content by top publishers and websites, that can be both searched and explored.
Rounding out the 3.0 update is something Flipboard is calling: ‘The Daily Edition.’ This is billed as your “fast, definitive roundup of the day’s news—with a little bit of fun thrown in the mix.” The feature can be found among your tiles, and notifies you when it’s ready at 7am.
Flipboard CEO and co-founder Mike McCue says the company is “on a quest” to create the world’s best personal magazine, and today’s update helps push them towards that goal. Make sure to check out the latest version of Flipboard, out now in the App Store for free.
