iphone 6 order 2

Following their unveilings on Tuesday, Apple has made both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus available for online pre-order. I want to be up front and say that I have not seen the online store (website) come back up yet, but myself and a number of readers/colleagues have managed to place orders through other avenues.

It seems like people are having the most success with the Apple Store app. It takes some patience, and maybe even a few tries, but that’s how I placed my order, and was able to opt for in-store pickup. Otherwise, you can try your carrier’s website—I see some folks on Twitter have had luck ordering with AT&T and Verizon.

Still, it can’t be good for Apple’s business that it’s more than an hour late (at the time of writing) in getting its online store back up. It went offline around 8pm PST, and was supposed to return at 12:01 am PST. Additionally, users have complained of typical pre-order issues with carrier sites, such as crashing/load failures.

Update: it’s about 2:15 am PST, and it looks like Apple’s web store is back online for most folks.

Anyway, if you manage to get through, keep in mind that the iPhone 6 has a 4.7-inch screen, and is easier to use with one hand. The 6 Plus has a larger 5.5-inch screen, a bigger battery, and an exclusive camera feature called Optical Image Stabilization. The iPhone 6 starts at $199, and the 6 Plus starts at $299 (with contract).

  • Rowan09

I got my contract free Plus in Gold about 30 minutes ago. What’s the standard shipping times?

    • saurav432

Did it say standard shipping or standard shipping times? mine says, “Delivers: 9/19 by Standard Shipping” ,so i am guessing it means you will get it in sept 19.

      • Rowan09

Mine says 7-10 business days by Oct. 1-7. I think all the 6+ gave these times.

The joys of trying to get an iPhone the day it comes out. Trying to pre-order through T-Mobile because I have JUMP. And it’s not like you can just go to bed wake up whenever, and then leisurely order your device. Not if you want any chance of having it in your hands on launch day. You’ve gotta be one of the very first to order. Feels like it’s as rare as Willy Wonka’s golden tickets.

These were the words of a writer (Christian)
from this blog In reaction to when the note was first launched and I quote
“no matter how hard I try I really don’t see myself having public phone calls using such a Gorilla-sized device. And just how does this thing fit in your pocket? Not everyone wear work pants” Most of you guys here agreed with him and said that the 4 inch iPhone was the gold standard for handsets but today,

I bet, him and most of you guys who said those things even camped outside and
waited for the launch of the gorilla-size iPhone. Apple does it and its gold

    such hypocrites!

Europeans thought the world was flat… Eventually they came around, literally. People are allowed to change their minds, are they not? I’m grateful Samsung proved Apple wrong. Nothing wrong with evolving.

      • max

You are absolutely right. The point I’m trying to make is,
just because apple didn’t come out with it first doesn’t make it bad. That’s what you American’s say your foot in your mouth.
Yes apple takes existing technology and makes it better but
you have to give credit where credit is due. We all knew that it was just a matter of time before apple jumped on the big screen wagon. The same thing happened with the iPad and then they came out with the mini. Personally I just love tech and my money goes to whatever device that I like and works for me. I love the fact that apple is going bigger but the 6 and 6 plus looks like a shrunk iPad mini and or a blown up and polished iPod.

      • I like you, you’re smart,

Apple rarely ever “invents” anything. They take what’s out there and make it better. Regardless of your personal opinion, without the original iPhone, the smartphone market wouldn’t be as advanced as it is today. Apple didn’t invent the smartphone, but it brought it to the masses.
Samsung’s Note line, tablets and phones, all look like each other… so what’s your point? I really don’t believe you have one. You just wanted to gripe about how people (mainly Americans) will now take full notice of bigger screen phones. Apple, just like with the iPhone, will bring NFC payments and wearables to the forefront of the consumer market unlike Samsung or Motorola have been able to. I use Samsung devices so I’m not a flip-flopper. I’m keeping it real.
At the end of the day, the lines for the new iPhones will still make Samsung envious, after all they’ve done for the market. Again, I’m glad there is competition. It always helps out the consumers.

    I order my iPhone 6

Ordered an iPhone 6 Space Grey 64GB model. Took a ton of refreshes on the Apple Store though, but eventually got through. The iPhone 6 Plus 128GB capacities seemed to sell out pretty quick here in the UK, slipped to 3-4 weeks.

  • Yujin

The Apple store app didn’t have a tmobile option and came back online at 3:30 am EST. The web store came online at around 6. Lol.

Time to go old school, skip work/school, and wait outside the store

What I dont get, the iPhone prices with a contract are the same in the US no matter what? It’s just a 2 year contract? Does that give you unlimited everything contract or something? How much do you pay each month? Here in Holland the price of the device depends on the contract, amount 4G data etc.

  • Natedgr8

I had my order for an iPhone 6 Plus 128gb submitted through AT&T’s website by 2:01 am CST. 1 minute after it went live. Just received confirmation of delivery 10/13-10/22! WTF! 🙁 Is anyone getting a 6 Plus 128gb on launch?

    • becoolyolanda

same model here via Verizon – delivery date 10/14
I dont think any PLUSes will be in-store on launch (or very few)…

    • Fanboy 

This is why you order thru Apple and not the carriers…..

      • Natedgr8

Apple site said 3-4 weeks out when the site finally came up for me. Was wondering if anyone had been told delivery by sep 19th.

      • Fanboy 

Most people (including myself) used the Apple Store app, which worked before the website and we secured a 19th delivery date

      • Natedgr8

First come first serve! Where do you live so I may pick up my phone next week? 🙂 LOL

  • AirJonn

How much do you pay each month for your contract in the US in order to the the 6+ for 299? And what 4G data limitations does that give you each month?

  • Krutik Quiran

okay so i was one of the people from the UK who was able to order the iPhone 6 64GB space grey as soon as it went live from the apple store online website, and i also got my email about my order being processed, but i go into the Apple Store app and into my orders and nothing comes up, it says “Orders are not available at this time, please try again later” is anyone else getting this and i can’t even look at it through the website as it says the same thing, is this just a server issue? as now i’m scared that my iPhone has been ordered or not even though i have my order number

    • Flavio Sebastián Pitkowski

Same here dude…. I´m getting the same message.

  • Jemal Russell

So tell me why just got my confirmation(Att) said 35-42 days?! I literally order it 2 before the start!

  • Tristan

When I ordered it said 2-3 weeks. Now i just got a email from Att that it’s now 6-7 weeks wtf!

    • Fanboy 

This is why you should go thru Apple and not AT&T

  • ShawnTXDFW

I STILL have yet to get a confirmation email regarding my order with AT&T. Is anyone else having this problem?

  • Razick Rilshad

    No unlocked sim free?

  • Blip dude

And as always, I was right about the overloads!! I ended up going to bed, woke up at 7am PST, got myself a 64GB Space Grey iPhone 6- on AT&T. I may cancel my pre-order and see if I’ll but the 6+ from AT&T next week instead on launch via their NEXT program.

  • minigurlnikki

I got the initial reservation email that I would a second email soon to continue my purchase. I haven’t received the second email yet. Has this happened with anyone else?

  • Burly_Irishman

I just got back from Best Buy in Madison, WI, I was number 3 in line and the Apple Rep told everyone they could not pre-order the 6 plus AT ALL…needless to say I left

    • Gil Roman

I was about to be in the same boat as you…such a BS move not offering the Plus at BB

  • becoolyolanda

there wont be many pluses in-store on launch…

  • Gil Roman

OK Brothers After losing much sleep…I gave T-Mo another go this morning on the way to work. I was able to get My order in for 6 and a 6Plus by CALLING T-Mo. I was on hold for about 30 mins. The lady mucked something up with my installment plan but after and hour and 45 minutes from start to finish I have my order go through. She mentioned in passing that at around 8am they have 150 people in queue, and the latest number she heard about was about 600 waiting in queue to order phones.

Do not lose hope! Keep the faith! 😀

    • Jimmy Velletta

      Was this using Jump?

  • ic0dex

Just to let everyone know that Best buy will not be pre ordering the iPhone 6 plus.

  • Krish Damany

21-28 days…i even pre-ordered in the middle of the night

  • Joseph A. Ahmad

I woke up at 8 am this morning before work, and hoped on the website and casually ordered the iPhone 6, 64 GB, Space Grey model on Verizon’s network through Apple’s website. I’m going to be doing a personal pickup at my local Apple Store. And just for the experience – this is my first timing getting a new iPhone from an Apple Store – I am going to ask for a personal setup and have them sell me a case as well. The past few times, I have gotten my iPhone from the Verizon Store. While exciting, I just didn’t feel as excited as I am for this iPhone.
