iOS 6 Jailbreak

If you have an older device running older firmware, you may have felt left out of yesterday’s iOS 7 jailbreak festivities. But, worry not, because there is a release that just dropped in Cydia that allows you to enjoy an untethered jailbreak on your iPhone 4, iPod touch 4th generation, and iPhone 3GS if you’re running iOS 6.1.3 through 6.1.5.

The untethered jailbreak, which is called p0sixspwn in Cydia, is a package that allows you to convert a tethered jailbreak into an untethered one. This means that if you’re currently jailbroken on one of the aforementioned devices using a tool like redSn0w or sn0wbreeze, you can finally reboot your device without having to perform a tethered boot. Have a look inside for the step-by-step guide.

How to untether iOS 6.1.3-6.1.5 on the 3GS, iPhone 4, or iPod touch 4G

Step 1: Perform a tethered jailbreak with RedSn0w or sn0wbreeze
Step 2: Open Cydia, search for p0sixspwn and install the package.
Step 3: Enjoy your newly converted untethered jailbreak.

The team behind p0sixspwn—@winocm and @iH8sn0w—claim that their jailbreak is of the “drama free” variety, an obvious friendly jab at the controversy surrounding the Evaders’ release of Evasi0n7. They also state that they plan to bring a jailbreak to A5+ devices running the older iOS 6 firmware.

p0sixspwn looks to be a solid release, and shouldn’t be lost in the hullabaloo surrounding yesterday’s surprise release of Evasi0n7. Be sure to check out iH8sn0w’s blog for more details on the jailbreak.

    Yes! 🙂

    Ah, sweet!

  • jp2002

I think its temporarily pulled down due to some conflicts with iPhone 4. Im not sure though.

  • Zorvage

This is how you release a jailbreak, gentlemen.

    • 4p0c4lyps3

      Don’t u mean jailbreak fix?

      • Zorvage

No. A jailbreak. Because that is what it is. It isn’t a patch. They created this.

      • The jailbreak is done via redsn0w. This tool just offers an untether. If there is no redsn0w, this tool becomes useless. So, to be clear, they didn’t release a jailbreak. They released an untether.

      • 4p0c4lyps3

        Word!

I think its temporarily pulled down due to some conflicts with iPhone 4.

  • Modest

I’m giving my old iPhone 4 to my granddad. Should I jailbreak and install something or just leave as it is?

    • David Horbach

Leave it as it is. I don’t know if your granddad is a tech person but in general old people don’t know that much about tech. I doubt it he will benefit from it.

      • Modest

He is not really, but he is a very good learner. I’m not talking about any apps like Zephyr or anything like that.

      • David Horbach

Well if you think he will benefit from it go ahead :). Keep in mind though there is a chance he could damage the device if he goes installing things he knows nothing about.

      • Anonomous.TECH.man

        Put f.lux on thier.

      • babiloe

Put ifile on it, a smartphone that should has

LOL someone posted this post on twitter

  • yim.keorithy

i have an iPhone 4 running 5.1.1, can i update it to iOS 6 but not iOS 7? IOS7 is so slow on iPhone 4

    • lavx

yes you can! If you have your SHSH blobs
just search on YouTube. idownloadblog may have a tutorial for you. if not somebody else will.

      • yim.keorithy

Thank, I will try to find it

      • anonymous

shsh blobs for ios6 is useless, i have tried it, says incomplete hash, so i think ios 5.1.1 is the last u can upgrade or downgrade for iphone 3gs and ip4.

      • LeePattison

6.1.3 blobs are ok its only 6.x.x to 6.1.2 that are no good
        invalid apt ticket problem

      • anonymous

ios 6.1.3 blobs are ok for iphone 3gs only, as it’s still being signed , because it’s the latest firmware. but ip4 is different case,it has ios7 to be the latest, therefor yim can not go to ios6, it’s not possible.

      • LeePattison

no mate the iphone 4 is ok aswell as long has you have saved blobs from 6.1.3 and use ifaith or snowbrezze to stich them

      • Filip Langer

They’re not useless. You just can’t rely on the blobs saved by Cydia. If you want your blobs to always work, save them using TinyUmbrella.

      • anonymous

but i think the saving of ip4 blobs had to be in the time when ios6 was still being signed so that it can be downloaded when it’s being signed simultaneously. i don’t think dumping the shsh blobs in dfu mode now will do any good, there needed to be extra data only available from apple server, correct me if im wrong.

      • yim.keorithy

How can i get the Shsh Blobs for IOS6 because i am on ios 5 now

      • Mike Colacone Saal

You can’t, because I would assume you didn’t ever update to iOS 6 and then downgrade to 5. You have to have been on 6 to save the blobs, unless I am speaking incorrectly? Can someone confirm for me?

      • yim.keorithy

i get so, so i need to update to iOS 7 hery

      • Mike Colacone Saal

yeah basically. or upgrade to a 5s 🙂

      • anonymous

don’t update to ios7, and if ur really curious, use it for some time and come back to ios5 anytime. i agree ios7 is really laggy on ip4 and it performs like a mid range android, they sould’ve never released ios7 for iphone 4. and if they really wanted, they should’ve changed just the user interface rather than the whole kernel. the sofware of ios6 was best suited for ip4.

      • anonymous

if i were u, i’d be really happy coz ios5 and 6 is pretty much the same, atleast user interface wise, u get pretty much the same thing, and u got jailbreak for life buddy, u can come back anytime to ios5 without any hassle, that’s not available with most iphone4 nowadays. ios5 is the best os for iphone4 after of course the ios6, it’s not laggy and gives top notch performance.

    • butterfield

I am in exactly the same situation….I would love to know if this can be done!

      • Jonathan

Perhaps wait for Apple to have a random server error (it did a couple months ago) and people could downgrade to iOS 6 from iOS 7. Just have a desired IPSW file ready, then hold down Shift (Alt for Mac) and click Check for Update.

      • yim.keorithy

the problem is that we dont know when

      • Jonathan

iDownloadblog usually posts when it happens.

      • Mike Colacone Saal

I missed the last one by an hour.. I just had to watch a movie during that small window -_-

      • Jonathan

LOL I don’t wanna downgrade. 😛 The only time I would if Apple released a non-7.x jailbreakable update, and I had a bricked device or something and was forced to update, then I’d downgrade.

      • Mike Colacone Saal

Oh I love iOS 7.. had the betas.. but i like the jailbreak a touch more.

      • yugoap

hey bro, can you explain me how to jailbreak IOS 6.1.3 without power button? i want to jailbreak my iPhone 3gs but the lock button is bricked, i can’t enter the DFU mode

  • Petter Sonacol

haha i thought this release to work on all devices that were on 6.13-6.15, but really there already a problem with it? darn it i was about to jailbreak my ipad mini…

  • JulianZH

i dont even use those old device/os anymore…..

    • ConduciveMammal

What do you want, a medal?

    • Jonathan

      Here, a cookie.

  • Jonathan

I have an iPod 4, 6.1.3. The only problem, I have a broken home button, so how do I DFU? I tried the DFU restore, kept getting errors. Researched online from changing restore so that it fails and forces DFU, but still no. 🙁

    • chumawumba

      Tinyumbrella?

      • Jonathan

That’s for enter/exiting recovery. And I actually used it. I forgot to use 6.0 in Just Boot, so it put it in a black screen of death. Restore kept failing “error 21” so I tried TinyUmbrella, exit recovery, and it kicked me into DFU surprisingly! So I then just boot, and I was back and working.

Now for what happens afterwards if you want a story. 😛
for whatevs reason, it didn’t install Cydia, so, I reinstalled 6.1.5 with a Enter_DFU added to it. It’s suppose to give me error 37, which basically means I’m now in DFU, but it gave my 1600. I noticed I was now in 1600, so I was happy. did the jailbreak, used Just Boot, and it worked! I’m now installing untethered!!!

      • yugoap

hey bro, can you explain me how to jailbreak IOS 6.1.3 without power button? i want to jailbreak my iPhone 3gs but the lock button is bricked, i can’t enter the DFU mode T_T

      • Jonathan

        iPhone 3GS?
        First off, create a backup.
        1. Download IPSW of 6.1.5
        2. Download RedSn0w
        3. Redsn0w > Extras > Even more > DFU IPSW
        4. Select 6.1.5, and let it do it’s thing.
        5. Then hold down Shift (Alt on Mac) and select the downloaded 6.1.5 IPSW, not the custom DFU IPSW one you just made. We need it to update first off.
        6. Hold down SHift (Alt on Mac) and click Check for Update in iTunes. You can do Restore, but you’ll lose data. Click the DFU IPSW you just made
        7. Let it “update” it.
        8. You should get error 37, or maybe 1600. Either way, just make sure the screen is off when it’s done. THat means it’s in DFU.
        9. Find the correct IPSW for your iPhone, iOS 6.0. and download
        10. After failing the update, go to Redsn0w > Extas > Select IPSW. Select the 6.0 you just downloaded. Why? Because it needs a plist file that only 6.0 has. If you didn’t do that, you would get a missing plist error when jailbreaking or just boot.
        11. Now click jailbreak
        12. That’ll take a while, but once your screen goes black again, click Select IPSW again and click 6.0 yet again.
        13. Extras > Just Boot. Let it do its thing.
        14. Open Cydia. Install the important stuff that pops up. It will reboot.
        15. Open Redsn0w yet again and select IPSW 6.0.
        16. Click Just Boot
        17. Install the untethered jailbreak.

Let me know if the screen goes black after sitting it down for a few minutes. That means DFU mode of course. It kept doing that on me and I couldn’t get out. Forced to restore.

      • yugoap

I don’t undrstand so much, how to enter dfu in just boot process?

      • Jonathan

After jailbreaking, and it finishes what it needs to do, it should put itself into DFU mode. You’ll know when it seems “dead” with the screen off.

      • yugoap

but after i finished the jailbreak my phone reboot automatically,no enter the dfu mode

      • Jonathan

So you can see your apps and stuff? If so, I guess you’re fine.

    • Filip Langer

      Redsn0w DFU ipsw?

      • Jonathan

Thanks, found out the solution. I was doing it to iOS 5.0.1, which was stitched to an SHSH blob, so I guess you can’t do it to modified ones. I then did it to 6.1.5, worked perfectly.

    • Virico

Most people, including me had problemas with downgrades becouse of a simple diference that, when I discovered it, I never had problemas anymore. It is the diference between DFU mode and Pawned DFU mode. If you asure your device in Pawned DFU mode, you should not have erros on downgrade tryes.

      • Jonathan

Is DFU mode just holding down the power and home button at correct times? If so, how do I enter Pawned DFU?

      • Virico

You will need a tool for that. You can try ifaith or snowbreeze. Inside, you will have the option (with step by step following) to put your device in pwned dfu mode. And then you will be able to restore your custom firmware (that one you made with your shsh blob) in itunes. Also you may have to use an older version of itunes. I do recommend 11.0.5.5

      • leart

your correct, and dont forget to disable firewall, removing temporary host file from directory and disable antivirus and to have a clean install of itunes 11.0.0 😉

  • Preben Faarkrog Hansen

can u downgrade 4S if you have the ispw + blobs got iOS 5.1.1 and 6.1 and pt on iOS 7

    • Burge

      No

    • Jeremy

A5+ devices are incapable of downgrading even if you have the SHSH blobs. I think A4 devices are the only ones that are able to be downgraded if you have the SHSH blobs.

  • Abdl

For A5+ devices on wednesday …

  • Facebook User

So I have an iPod at 6.1.3 and it hasn’t been jail broken.. Where do I start?

    • Abdl

Do a tethered jb(google for that) then follow this procedure

    • Jonathan

Update to 6.1.5 (it’s safe, mine’s on 6.1.5) and then use Redsn0w. You MUST download iOS 6.0 first. Then go to Extras>Select IPSW. Select 6.0 before jailbreaking, and then again before using “Just Boot”. after you booted, add the source that’s somewhere in the comments here if it doesn’t it come up after refreshing sources. Then you have untethered 🙂

      • AltF5

Jonathan, so what is the iOS version reported in Settings? Does it say 6.0? Thanks

      • Jonathan

In settings of your device? No, it would be whatever version you have. 🙂

Sorry, I should have been more clear.

You have to download the correct IPSW for your device (iPhone, iPad, and so forth). Once you downloaded the iOS 6.0 IPSW, you go into RedSn0w > Extas > Select IPSW.

It needs a plist file from 6.0 that is ONLY in 6.0, and none of the other 6.x IPSWs. You select that IPSW before jailbreaking, and then again before “Just Boot”.

      • AltF5

Jonathan, thank you for the quick reply. Are you 100% sure that it will say, say 6.1.5 in settings, and not 6.0. I am trying to decypher how this would be possible. Isn’t the IPSW the entire iOS firmware (kernel and all), and basically we are loading 6.0 (downgrading somehow?) on the iDevice? If not then that would be GREAT. But that is how I am understanding it to be? Any more clarification / info is greatly helpful. I would definitely like the JB my A5 iPod Touch when released tomorrow (hopefully).

Also, in an off topic question… I asked this already here, but since you are familar with the restore process via IPSWs, I would also like to ask you… If I perform this operation and I have music on my iDevice, does JB-ing here (say with redsn0w, via “Select IPSW”) wipe out all music. I have been under the impression that it DOES, but someone else said it will not. Maybe I am confusing Select IPSW with Custom IPSW with what I have tried in the past, where everything was wipped (but I didn’t care for that iDevice). But for my iPod, I don’t want to spend hours reloading all the music and re-creating all the manually created playlists.

I may just be fuzzy on the operation performed by Select IPSW with what redsn0w actually does.

Any clarification will greatly help me out. Thanks and best regards.

      • Jonathan

It will say 6.1.5 in settings. When I select IPSW in Redsn0w, all it does, is use info from that IPSW as far as I know. As I said earlier, there are missing components needed to jailbreak from iOS 6.0.1 and greater. iOS 6.0 has that. So in the process of jailbreaking/Just Booting, it will use the grab the missing plist files from the 6.0 IPSW.
Using the select IPSW in Redsn0w does not install or alter anything on your device in any way. It is only used to help install the jailbreak.
If your device doesn’t brick or fail in the jailbreak process, and it successfully jailbreaks, you will not lose any music, apps, photos, anything. Nothing will be different, just you have Cydia now.

Does that help? If not, feel free to ask more questions. 🙂 I love these kind of questions, haha.

      • AltF5

I see! Okay I understand now. “Select IPSW” is indeed its own beast used specifically for however redsn0w needs to use it for Jailbreaking. It is not “Restoring to that IPSW” because that appears to actually be a different button under Extra –> Even More –> Restore: “Restores to an IPSW with support for…”. So basically this process is different. I tried to look up any technical information regarding redsn0w and its relationship with IPSWs but couldn’t find anything other than: “Use redsn0w to select the IPSW file matching the current iOS version installed on your iPhone.” …so it makes sense Select IPSW is doing something OTHER THAN a restore to the iDevice. In this case we are specifying IPSW 6.0 to have redsn0w hack any other 6.x FW that is already placed on the device. And I have further seen where indeed to use “Select IPSW” a working iOS system is required to do such task, or else the iDevice will sit at the Apple logo (which I experienced recently with a iPhone 3G going to iOS 4.2.1.

And with such being the case that Select IPSW does not contain any “Restoration-like features” as done in iTunes, I shouldn’t lose anything, incl Music and everything else.
Indeed, iTunes doesn’t backup music (and I could use my CopyTrans as a safe-guard), but its process of manually specifying an IPSW is what made me think that was the same as ‘Select IPSW’ in redsn0w… but that is DIFFERENT! iTunes uses it to restore the iDevice, and redsn0w… well it’s doing some black magic. I originally assumed it hacked the IPSW and Restored the iDevice with that, but such isn’t the case as you have mentioned (I am hoping, and will probably be proven myself when I try this tomorrow / Thursday when iH8Sn0w releases his A5 variant of this)… honestly I don’t have to wait until he does, as I could Tether JB right now, and I think I may even do such tonight to see the results. Then when released simply download his Cydia reboot/untether patch and be golden :P.

I appriciate all the info, sorry to go on such a tangent. I need to now reprogram my brain and make notes from this on the functionality of JB via redns0w. Maybe I’ll copy and paste our convo here in a word doc to reference in the future, haha.

Thank you again. Happy holidays, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year 🙂

      • Jonathan

You are extremely close! If I did not use “Select IPSW”, I won’t get a stuck Apple Logo, just a screen that is on, but black. No logo. I can either try and use TinyUmbrella to kick me out of recovery, and hopefully back into DFU, or the easier way if you have working power/home, enter DFU that way.

Other than that, you are correct. 😀

No need to apologize. I love to share information with others.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you as well. =)

Before you do jailbreak in case something goes wrong, you may want to check this out.

        support.apple.(com)/kb/HT1535?viewlocale=en_US

If you already have the same playlists on iTunes as your iDevice, follow these steps and you can just sync the playlists back on to your device without having to recreate them song by song.

Let’s spread the word to help Jailbreak the Apple TV 3

  • Prasoon Singh

    The title is funny.

  • Joe Benning

They release this after the 7 JB, lol. You know a shitload of people left 6 and went to 7 yesterday just for the JB.

  • Joseph Apodaca

Hey I know this sounds stupid, but does this jailbreak iPhone 4S 6.1.3 as well? I am just not a fan of the iOS 7 UI. Will this work?

    • Jeremy

No, it’s only for A4 devices only. They’re working on an A5+ untethered jailbreak. You could update to iOS 7 after a more stable version of it is released and just install a theme that’s based off of iOS 6.

    • Mike Colacone Saal

I can almost guarantee someone will release a theme that brings back the iOS 6 look and feel, just give it time… Hey Scott Forstall, looking to piss off Apple and make some money? Join us in the Jailbreak community and sell an iOS 6 theme for 3.99. :p

  • Jeremy

Sorta off topic but still jailbreak related, but I’m having issues with the evasi0n7 jailbreak on windows because when it gets to “configuring system 2/2” it freezes up and does nothing. I’ve done a clean restore 3 times already through iTunes and am on the latest firmware for my 5s and the last restore was basically setting it up as a new iPhone and I still have the same end results. Any help if you managed to bypass this issue?

  • Mahmoud Omar

for any preform p0sixpwn JB , is it really block APPSync and can’t install any cracked application ???!!!!

    • Question

Dude you’re an idiot lol the whole jailbreak communtity is bitching about piracy and you are here asking on a wrong website on if there’s a way to crack apps. Smh

  • johny23

will it be released a standalone prog also? or we have to do tethered first

    • Karlitos Lira

it clearly says “Perform tethered first” on the steps… 🙂

      • johny23

what im asking if its going to be released also as a standalone prog later on…

      • Karlitos Lira

they always do this to the tethered, just a “patch” after u tethered 🙂 …well since i’ve jailbroken tethered, it has always been like that 😮

  • WiKKiD

This is GREAT news!! I am still on iOS 5.1.1 jailbreak and I was really waiting for this untether, this may sound like a “noob” question but I will ask it anyway.. I took a screen shot in cydia at my TSS Center and it says I have SSH for 6.1.3 there.. Does that mean I can for sure tether jailbreak to 6.1.3 with resn0w and then download the untether from ih8tesn0ws repo?
Below is a picture of TSS Center, thanks.

    • Jonathan

Do at your own risk. Something may go wrong with the stitching, making it impossible to restore to 6.1.3, making you HAVE to go to 7.0.4.

      • WiKKiD

Thank you for the response. It is so tempting to update since alot of tweaks and apps I want are not iOS 5 compatible which really pisses me
off! But my iphone is near perfect so I will wait until the untether is a little more stable.. Not sure why I wouldn’t be able to downgrade back to ios 5.1.1 though?

      • Jonathan

Because Apple wants you to update the (soon to be) nonjailbreakable iOS. *sigh*

    • Jonathan

One last thing, do you have an A4 (iPhone 4 or lower) or an A5 chip? If it’s an A5, what the guy said do you unfortunately won’t work.

      • WiKKiD

I have iPhone 4 (A4 chip GSM) so hopefully it will work! >:)

      • Jonathan

        Great. 🙂 Good luck!

      • WiKKiD

        Thanks man!

  • Ethan

It doesn’t show up for me; I have been checking all throughout the day but still no luck. I have an iPod touch 4th generation on iOS 6.1.5. I used redsn0w. Is anybody else experiencing this issue?

  • Riley Freeman

What a childish comment to make while releasing this.

All this is childish. I appreciate the hard work and enjoy jail breaking even though I’m finding less and less the need to jailbreak. But this is a bit ridiculous. They are acting like a bunch of teenage girls. Work together instead of against each other. Personally I don’t care about this tag deal. It’s for users in the Asian market. Last I checked, that is of no concern to anyone in North America (where the majority of these blog sites are and the biggest uproar). There’s cracked apps everywhere. Someone who doesn’t want to pay, is going to find out how.

There’s no rEason to expect anywhere close to the numbers jail breaking iOS 7 compared to iOS 6 even if this whole nonsense wasn’t attached. A lot of people are simply happy and see less of a purpose to jailbreak.

I can’t find the package for some reason. Help?

  • Thomas Moore

It’s back up on Cydia and works — now have UNtethered iPod Touch 4 Gen running 6.1.3. Great Christmas present — THANKS.

  • Jonathan

I ran into a big problem. I don’t have a working home button, so I used RedSn0w’s DFU restore thingy. I got it to work, then installed the untethered after I got Cydia working and everything. After I finished everything, I turned it off, sat it down for a minute, came back, and the screen didn’t turn on. I played around with redsn0w, tinyumbrella, nothing worked. Then all the sudden I got the white screen of death. I tried to restore, kept getting errors, so I restarted my comp, and finally got it to restore. What was that all about? What happened?? I thought for sure I permanently bricked my iPod. Right now I’m setting it up again. Will attempt jailbreak again.
Anyone know any good 3rd party repair companies? I’m seriously thinking on sending it in.

  • Karlitos Lira

Awesome!! This is all I wanted for Christmas! Thank you all for this! ^_^ <3

      • Jonathan

        Agreed LOL

  • Ted Forbes

This patch seems flawless, thanks guys.

  • SomeDudeWithAPhone

So it seems the new version works for people with iphone4’s now, but what about the people that installed the first version and are now stuck in recovery mode with no way out? what about us? the i4_untether_bootloop_fix.tar.gz fix doesnt work for me, couldnt do the first repair method because it required ssh and my phone was just in recovery. I want to fix my phone, anyone know what to do now?

    • Jonathan

      Tinyumbrella > Exit recovery?

      • SomeDudeWithAPhone

Did it twice before, no go, still stays in recovery, have been in dfu, pwneddfu, safemode, recovery mode, trying to boot it up somehow to a normal state so i could just forget today happened but still no go, i boot tethered through redsnow and it gets stuck on the pineapple logo. Ive used snowbreeze to just receive errors, same with itunes, errors 3194, 1600, 11. Ive tried restoring 6.1.3 ive tried updating to 7.0.4. just errors back to back and nothing is working for me right now

      • Jonathan

Looks like you’re going to iOS 7. Enter DFU, restore to a non-custom iOS 7.

      • SomeDudeWithAPhone

My goal was to stay on 6.1.3 and just go untethered but this whole complication happened and i am willing to finally update to 7.0.4 just to get my phone working again if its not possible to get it working on 6.1.3 untethered. by the way normal update and restore through itunes gives me errors also even if im on the itunes plug recovery mode. nothings working for me

Read that maybe? That might work, I hope.

      • Dao Sasone

Try editing your host file if u get itunes error when restoring original firmware. You can use reds0w to re-restore to a custom firmware if u have your shsh saved.

      • (JailbreakQA) King Shoot

If you have iPhone 4,save your 6.1.3 SHSH with iFaith then re-restore to 6.1.3

  • Jonathan

HELP. I just jailbroke, got it untethered, but my iPod keeps entering DFU mode! I use Just Boot, and my screen doesn’t turn on. After a minute, it goes back into DFU! Why? It was fine a couple minutes ago. PLEASE help.

  • Candra Setiawan

  • Phim Norphea

  • Dex

Does it work on iPhone 4S? And if I jailbreak it, will it be unlocked? (open line)

  • SuperK

Now my iPhone 3Gs with iOS 5.1.1 , so I have to update to 6.1.3 via
iTunes and then tethered Jailbreak with redsnow or snowbreez and then
    use
p0sixspwn. Is there a method or short cut to skip to untethered jailbreak ?
    Please let me know.

    • (JailbreakQA) King Shoot

No.You need to jailbreak tethered and then install the untethered.

Question if anyone can answer: Doing a tethered jailbreak with RedSn0w or sn0wbreeze on an iDevice that is currently not jailbroken, will cause me to loose all my music, correct? And also a 2nd question: If I am updating an iPod Touch to iOS 7, if I do NOT use OTA and update via iTunes, will all music be lost? (I know OTA preserves it). Thanks guys, this information would help me. I hate losing data.

    • Dao Sasone

You wont loose data on a jb. Only on a restore or update. All you need to do is do a back up with itunes r icloud, uptate, then resore from back up via icloud or itunes. What ever method you used. and you will have all your data again.

    • Jonathan

Updating (not restoring) OTA or through iTunes, you will not lose any data.

  • AltF5

Someone that did this, can you please confirm or check if the iOS version reports 6.0 in the Settings app… meaning we don’t get to benefit from the features added to later 6.x versions? I really would like an explanation WHY 6.0 is required here by someone like iH8sn0w…

    • (JailbreakQA) King Shoot

You don’t need 6.0 for this.
      It clearly states : 6.1.3 to 6.1.5

      • AltF5

You use the 6.0 IPSW. That was unclear.

      • (JailbreakQA) King Shoot

You need the 6.0 IPSW to jailbreak tethered on iOS 6.1.3/6.1.5 and THEN install the untether

  • Alphmichaels

Question. I have a 3GS with current iOS @ 4.1. Old phone, I know. Old iOS, I know. Previous jailbreak was in December, 2010 in SE Asia where I work. I use for web email, voice calls, Skype calls and now I’d like to use for LINE, VIBER, etc. Can I use this product to “upgrade” from noted version to current and are there any caveats I need to observe or work around? Thanks. Merry Christmas!!

  • Dao Sasone

Yes they work differently in a way. With sn0wbreeze, the jb is implemented into the firmware. The main reason you would want to use sn0wbreeze is to update your firmware and preserve your baseband so it can b unlocked. Redsn0w re-restore option is used to just keep your device on the same firmware if your having issues. That way you would keep your jb if theres no jb for the newest firmware. But any restore will make you loose data. Only way to restore your music is to have a folder of what music you want then sync it via itunes. Or some apps have the ability to have itunes back up option. So when you restore from back up you will have your data again.

  • Saransh

I have an iPhone 3GS running 6.1.3 and is a tethered jailbreak via readsn0w.does the patch work for this ?

  • Paulie Neira

I can’t jailbreak my iPhone 4 on 6.1.5 it keeps saying missing plists

  • (JailbreakQA) King Shoot

  • Svien

  • Phal Sothy
