iPhone 5s space gray gold silver

The iPhone 5s might look like an iPhone 5 on the outside, but a few things have changed on the inside, making it, as you’ve probably guessed, the best iPhone yet.

Apple usually doesn’t brag too much about specs because, as my wife says, “it’s not about the size of your processor, it’s about what you do with it.” All jokes aside, even though Apple dropped a few tech specs today, we wanted to gather them up all under one roof.

More importantly, we have listed the iPhone 5s tech specs below for historical purposes. In several years from now, when the iPhone 5s is nowhere to be found on Apple’s website, this post will help us have a look back on the iPhone 5s and its specs in one convenient place…

Yawn, how many Mah battery are we talking about here?

    • mehrab

10 hours on wifi browsing and lte browsing which is darn impressive.

      • n0ahcruz3

Not impressed compared to RAzR MAXX

      • mehrab

Can that phone match the iphones performance camera? Or have ios 7 on it? Or a thin and light design like the 5s? Or have touch id? Or the ecosystem of ios? NOOOO

      • n0ahcruz3

What ecosystem you mean Appstore and itunes? Nope but can the iphone last 21 hours of talk time?

      • mehrab

Thats a feature phone you are talking. The gs4/LOL HTC ONE cannot do that at ALL AND if you love feature phones or the razr max whatever get that and get off this site

      • Guest

What are you even trying to say?

      • mehrab

Oh me? See my comment maybe you”ll get it.

      • Guest

Oh, I get it, it’s just you trying to compare every other phone to the iPhone trying to start more flame wars.

      • mehrab

Im actually not. Im saying the iphone 5s is the fastest phone on the market and that the 5 is competive on the cpu side with the android flagships but kicks butt on the gpu side a year old phone kicking butt on the lastest are actually a negative. Thats what i was pointing too.

      • Guest

You have no proof that the iPhone 5S is the fastest device on the market.

Also, proof is not saying ‘well *insert name here* or *insert company here* said it’s the fastest.”

      • mehrab

No. It is. Bcos the 5 is faster at opening some apps then the gs4 and htc one and performs better in every single freaking game loads web pages the fastest i tested put myself and seen yputube videos you should too?! I beg you too that should put some sense in you that its not about benchmark numbers or specs even tho the iphine wins every gpu benchmark cos ios does not need a super fast cpu to be fast thats why the cpu is low either way still the year old phone beats the htc one/gs4 75 ppercent of the time and the 5s is twice the cpu gpu and is a 64 bit software

      • Guest

That doesn’t prove anything. Loading SOME apps faster doesn’t make the iPhone faster. Also, have you tested every single ‘freaking’ game. I doubt it. You do not know that every game runs better on the iPhone than Android devices. My GS4 ran GTA: Vice City (on max settings, and at full resolution) smoother than my iPhone ever did.

Loading YouTube videos faster doesn’t make it faster than the GS4. The iPhone 5 doesn’t load videos in HD because it doesn’t have an HD (1136×640) screen, while the GS4 (1920×1080) has to load videos in 1080P or whatever the highest available resolution is. Loading videos in higher resolutions takes more bandwidth, and loading apps takes more power because it has to load the apps in a higher resolution.

Lastly, I have compared web browsing on my GS4 and my iPhone, and Chrome loads web pages faster than Safari does, and this is based off of my internet speeds.

Also, saying the iPhone loads SOME apps faster in your first point completely contradicted your statement. Good job.

EDIT: I reread your comment, and you should also realize I NEVER brought up the Galaxy S4 having better specs than the iPhone, so I don’t know why you are trying to act like I did. Also, you saying the iPhone 5 beats the Galaxy S4 75% of the time is a lie. I watched several videos comparing the devices while choosing which I wanted, and most videos recommended the Galaxy S4 because it was more powerful, and beat the iPhone in almost all tests they put the devices up against.

      • mehrab

Sure listen bro the iphone 5 load some apps quicker well most apps and loads all ganes quicker and i know about gta vice city performance on the exynos gs4. Lastly all games are highly optimized and crafted carefully based on the specs of the lastest iphone all the way to the 4s. Thats why games run smoother on the 4s then on a gs4. You cannot compete with ios in gaming perfromance with the slow gpu and lack of optimization im very very very sorry. ALL you said is a lie i”d believe you if you said some apps load quicker on the gs4. And NO webpages load slower the iphone 5 is still the fastest web browsing device and is the smoothest no doubt im pretty sure ypu just lied i tested modern combat 4,need for speed most wanted asphalf 8( just yesterday i tested that) NOVA 3 real racing3 all games loads quicker and has significantly better fps and graphics please see gaming comparisons and stop lying please. The 5s is double the 5 in cpu and gpu hence beating the crap out of the exynos gs4 and easily the note 3 aswell. Watch more videos and open your eyes or test for yourself. Resolution is not an excuse i never asked about video loading speeds. The glbench mark shows just how much powerful thei phone 5″s gpu is to the gs4. Ios does not need cpu. And please again watch every single video possible.

I’m not even going to try to argue with you, because you have a completely biased point of view. The fact that people even voted up your comment is absurd.

I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if you would continue to say iPhone is the most powerful and fastest phone if some company made a super-phone (running anything other than iOS) that was light-years ahead of any other phone on the market.

P.S. I find it funny that you say their is absolutely no webpage that loads faster on Android than it does on iOS. Do you realize how incredibly ridiculous that sounds?

Also, I don’t know why you always try to bring up that the iPhone plays games smoother. If I wanted to play games, I would play them on something actually made for gaming like a console or a gaming PC. I don’t plan on going any ‘extreme’ gaming on my smartphone other than Cut The Rope or something similar.

      • mehrab

Thats cos your on android gaming sucks a hell lot for you or you dont know, you about mobile gaming. No i said the iphone 5 loads the pages faster thei phone 5 is actually the fastest web page rendering phone as web page rendering benchmarks have confirmed. I said nothing but the truth i said the gs4 is faster at opeing some apps for its cpu performance vs the year old iphone but for the insane gpu rendering web pages scrolling swtching apps gaming feels responsive and the 5s doubles the cpu and GPU ALSO hence killing the performance of the gs4/htc one /note 3 :). This is not biased that is literally fact and also apps on the app store are more optimized thats why they perform so much better on the play store there are mutitple devices hence no optimization hence bad expirirence.

      • Guest

As I already stated, I AM NOT a fan of smartphone gaming. I wasn’t a fan of it when I had an iPhone, and I still am not a fan of it now that I have an Android phone. The Android game selection is good enough for other people, and the current selection of apps suits me just fine. I have all the apps I used on my iPhone on my Android. As for games, if the phone can play Jetpack Joyride and Cut The Rope, I am content, and guess what? Android has both of those games, just the same as the iPhone does.

Web Page rendering is NOT the only factor that goes into pulling up a page faster. You internet speed is a huge factor for that, and as I said before, my Galaxy S4 running Google Chrome loaded the sites I tested faster than my iPhone 5 running Safari on both Wi-Fi and 4G. These are MY results, and they probably ARE NOT the same as yours.

As I said before, you DO NOT know how the iPhone 5S compares to competitors because you DO NOT currently own or have the device.

None of this is fact. You, mehrab, have posted on this blog that specs do not matter (when the iPhone loses), so stop trying to act like they do now. You are being a hypocrite. What you are saying is biased, you STRONGLY favor the iPhone, and it is extremely obvious. You always throw any credibility you have out the window when you try to argue with people, and do you know why? It’s because you insult people. Do not expect anyone to take your argument seriously when you insult them for having a different view than you.

I am happy with my Android phone, and I do not hate the iPhone. The fact that you need to prove the iPhone is ‘so good’ says that you feel your iPhone, in some way, is inferior to some of the Android phones. I don’t know why you can’t just be happy with the phone and leave it be. Android and iOS are both great mobile operating systems.

      • mehrab

Okay first off my phines were on the same wifi network so yeah the. It lost and youtube “iphone 5 vs galaxy s4 lionking” that”ll show you atleast on the website page rendering side. Its not about you i was talking about which one is faster not which one is suitable for your needs. And no the way im talking about this is like the gs3 can beat the 4s in some cpu tests that means the gs4 can smoke the 4s. Thats literally what i said. Specs matter alot on ios a tiny change is a lot bcos of the optimization. But yeah idc what the specs are i just stating thei phone 5 is already very competive in performance witthe two new andrpid phones and the 5s has twice the ram cpu gpu that means it can smoke any android phine including the note 3. The same thing happened last year the iphine 5 smokes the note 2. Even tho the note 2 is pretty smooth.

      • n0ahcruz3

Unfortunately, im not talking about a feature phone. Droid Razr Maxx has a talk time of 21 hours. That 3300 mah is not a joke.

      • bene

why compare oranges to apples?? why compare how theres more calories in an orange than in an apple? razr maxx was made for maximum battery capacity and was the 5s in any way trying to beat it or was it advertising its battery life? this comparison doesnt make any sense

      • n0ahcruz3

Ofcourse it does we’re comparing smartphones so it is a relevant discussion.

      • mehrab

A phone that does something exceptionally speciafi. Which in this case have alot of battery it is a feature phone

      • n0ahcruz3

Which leads to my first question on how many Mah does 5S have. And you saying has 10 hrs off battery life which in your opinion find it impressive but not for me.

      • mehrab

Its not about the specs its about which last more in real world. Which os is more efficient and etc. In this case the driod wins the htc one loses and the gs4 is eye to eye

      • n0ahcruz3

I dont disagree, and apples ecosystem is second to none. Yes i dont deny that but comparing battery life to the mAXx hands down the wins.

      • mehrab

Cos the phone was designed for more battery. Whats with the htc one huh? Whats with the heating of the gs4? The gs4 is good battery life and the 5s competes with that very well

      • n0ahcruz3

Because each has their own gimmicky features that would require extra juice. And if u atleast turn those off it will have a decent battery life. But im just guessing here to be honest with you.

      • mehrab

Whats the point of having the, then? And no not really the htc one does not have battery clogging features yet has worser or equal to my iphone 5 battery and the gs4 turning off those features make it less annoying

      • n0ahcruz3

Yeah sorry about that i accdentally pressed post, tried to edit it but it keeps messing up Disqus. To end this im just gonna assume the mah of 5S is ofcorse 1450mah if not the same.

      • bene

There have already been phones with better battery life out there, like the Lenovo P780 with 4000mah, but why do you compare different phone just by their battery capacity??

      • n0ahcruz3

Because if you see above i was asking the mah of the 5S, and they said 10 hrs of talk time is impressive to others but not for me. And because when i upgrade from my 4S(which has horrendous battery life btw) i want a smartphone that can last a day with medium to frequent usage.

      • felixtaf

This was my battery info in beta 4. I wont call it as impressive. But its isnt that bad. Asking 21 hours battery life in a small phone with half the battery compared to Moto Razr Maxx is not right. However, iPhone 5 or 5S cant compete with Razr maxx, coz they dont have bigger battery. Not because they are poorly optimized…

      • n0ahcruz3

Yup finally someone that make sense

      • ClaudieX X

can motorola stay in the market to fight with Apple… ohh sorry… i forgot that the company bankrupt years ago.

      • Guest

Motorola didn’t go bankrupt. They are still making electronics.

      • ClaudieX X

hahaha, no they didn’t… hahaha, come onnnn….

      • Guest

What? They are still making electronics. Motorola Inc is defunct, but that is because they split into Motorola Mobility and Motorola Solutions.

      • ClaudieX X

i know it… thats the reason of my… come onnnnn….

      • Guest

Am I missing something here? What are you trying to say?

      • n0ahcruz3

This is spec debate not sales. And do your research they just release their moto X phone so basically they are still in business

      • HouseOfHouse

Let us know how many people spend 21 hours on the phone before they can charge it.

      • n0ahcruz3

To be honest i dont know, but 21 hours is impressive considering iphone has only 10hrs. But i do believe some are browing the web watching videos and playing games for 21 hours?

      • Felipe Queiroz Drumond

Who needs 21 hours of talking time? No one here works in a callcenter :-)

      • n0ahcruz3

Well i dont know but with that battery life i can browse the web without worrying about battery life? Or watch videos play games longer maybe?

  • Weak Sauce

Lol Americans have to pay $200 over here in the UK it so easy to get the phone for free £35-£45 a month 2 year contract.

    • Taf Khan

This true but we Brits pay more if we buy from apple without a contract.

    • Fevostone

Yeah but we have poor 3G they have 4g LTE all tho we are getting it in some places we are still yrs behind.

      • Dæmonsj

Don’t know where you live but I live in London and we have 4G LTE here

      • Luke Mulholland

Poor 3G? I’m happy with my 3G I get about 18 Mbps with 3 mobile. I pay £35 for unlimited everything. And I moved to Canada 3 weeks ago now I have to pay $80 for unlimited text and 1gb Internet. What a joke.

      • Fevostone

Yes that is right my friends at work are on 3 and I’m going to go with them wen the iphone 5s comes out

      • Urzo

We’re getting 4G LTE in December with Three. Not to mention I’m due an upgrade so I wont have to pay that horrible £800

    • Dæmonsj

Hahaha you upset the americans. Look at those dislikes.

      • Tom Brady

        Lol

  • ibem

    What about the “RAM” ???

    • mehrab

They havent said anything about it on the site or any where. But people will geekbench it to see the hidden specs like the ram

    • Rowan09

They never give specs on their chips. As stated below we’ll know when it comes out.

    • n0ahcruz3

Probably same 1gb ram lol. S stands for Same.

      • PainToad

Why is it every idiot on the Internet seems it’s hilarious to make the same tired cliched jokes over and over again?

      • Tom Brady

He has been on here doing it for three days straight. He’s consistent with the lame shit

      • n0ahcruz3

Right, then tell us einstien whats the ram?

      • PainToad

I wasn’t talking about RAM, I was stating your joke about S standing for ‘same’ was unoriginal and not the slightest bit funny. No one is laughing. No one.

      • n0ahcruz3

I was only answering his question. And you cant take away the fact that S upgrade are incremental with Same design,Same 8mp, Same ram(specualtion), same screen size, same PPI and so on and so fort. Thank goodness for ios7 tho.

      • PainToad

        NOT Same:
        * New colour
        * Faster CPU
        * 64 bit
        * Finger print scanning

      • Urzo

        LOL 4 things.

      • mehrab

Has soo much better hardware and software looks different in color and home button then its predecessor. And yet its “the same” i consider windows 8 an upgrade i consider the gs4 an upgrade but the 5 to the 5s is definitely a great update. More ram battery 2x cpu and gpu which made infinity blade 3 look mesmerizing. The htc one/gs4 performance is cpmpetitive with the iphone 5 as far as cpu is concerned in the gpu side off things the 5 dominates those two phones and gets 55-60 fps on games while the same games is 30-40 and the iphone 5s is 2x faster and smoother hence “KILLED THE PERFORMANCE OF THE HTC ONE/gs4/note 3. And the camera omygoodness its very very competitive with the gs4? Sure the iphone 5 is. The 5s is competitive with a nokia lumia 1020 and im sure it can beat that phone in number of aspects in terms of the camera. Ios has a great new interface and has amazing new powerful features and all that will run on 64 bit on the iphone 5s. Honarary mentions. M7 chip, slo mo video.burst mode, normal photo mode, touchid.

      • Guest

Why do you always feel the need to bring up Android or Windows Phone devices in almost every single comment you type? Just stop it.

P.S. You DO NOT know the iPhone 5S will kill the competition in performance. Chances are you were not one of the people at the event who got a hands on after the event was over, so stop trying to start flame wars before the device is even out.

      • Dao Sasone

        Iphone 5suc lol

  • Diego

    no 120 fps?

    • mehrab

Yes 120 fps slo mo video at 720p.

      • Diego

They should mension that on the specs.

  • David Wolf

1080p @60fps would be very nice, it’s so much smoother than 30fps ;)

  • mhobb

You should do iPhone 5 vs 5C specs.

    • mehrab

Same specs but the 5c packs a bigger battery meaning more battery

  • bene

I’m starting to buy how we shouldn’t brag the specs, but instead how well the software are optimized for the hardware.. My 3 year old iphone 4 can still run any of the latest game released with basically no lag at all, while my friend’s galaxy nexus is struggling to play minion rush at 10+fps. This led me thinking if I should just get an iphone 5 or 5s.. does the 64 bit a7 really makes a difference??

    • Dany Quirion

You mean the iphone 5c, they no longer sell iphone 5

      • bene

I thought I would get the 5 from some retailers for a bit cheaper, I’m just wondering if it’s worth getting the 5s instead of the 5, or the 5c

      • Dany Quirion

Its always worth getting the lastest iPhone lol

    • ClaudieX X

same speed with double the bits mean double the speed… minimum.

      • bene

but is that significant in normal usage? like I said the A4 chip in my iphone 4 is able to run basically any apps and I don’t see how I would be using the doubled speed..

      • ClaudieX X

i have the 4 too, but 5s is a big big change in hardware.
        * Games gonna look more detailed, with more visual effects
        * Programs will open almost without loading time.
        * Internet data will flow faster because of the better processor. Also the web pages will be 100% ready faster because of the multicore process
        * The 4 inch screen is a little difference from 3.5 inch of the iphone 4 series but when you see a video… the difference is much more noticeable.
        * All the nice visual effects of iOS 7 are off on iphone 4
        * Battery performance is much more durable
        * Now you really will not need a photo camera for any situation

So the whole use of your phone will change nicely. its obvious that you can still use the fantastic iphone 4 but the iPhone 5s is the perfect moment to update due to the incredible changes in hardware.

    • mehrab

Get the 5s it will be a very noticible update in performance for current iphone 5 users and for you it will be amazing the iphone 5 beats the htcone/gs4 in gaming and sometimes in loading apps and always in loading web pages. The 5s will just double the cpu and gpu hence killing anything that comes in its way including the note 3 which is already slower then the 5s like the note 2 is to the 5.

      • bene

ok I guess I would go with the 5s then, from my past experiences apple products can last quite a while and I hope this speed boost can keep the phone going for at least 2-3 years haha

      • mehrab

S models tend to last the most for instance my 4s is amazingly snappy and has amazing graphics performance and plays the games of today better then my htc one. Its all about optimization.

      • Tom Brady

My HTC one was better than my girl’s 4s. Maybe her phone is loaded and lags due to occupying all 32gb but

      • mehrab

Yess true so did mine i then cleaned it with phoneclean free download mac/pc app for removing hidden files junk files etc. Do that on your girls phone and try again asphalf 8 lagged crazy then i did it on my 4s then it was smoooth

      • Tom Brady

That’s probably what I have to do then, because every single app lags

      • mehrab

I reclaimed 2.3 gb of useless hiden junk caches from a 16 gb device so your wifes phone is in for a hell of a treat.

      • bene

yeah that’s what I was saying, and this is no any android phone can beat which is the optimization of the applications, the hardware in the android phones are just overkills, to compensate the software, and this is why android phones tend to be outdated so quickly

    • 4p0c4lyps3

Aha, try some modern combat 4 on ur iPhone 4. Lol. Think again my friend. Most games worth playing, ie: real games, don’t even come close to running on the iPhone 4. Alot won’t run on the 4s for tht matter. Just some info, btw.

      • ClaudieX X

Even infinity blade 3 will run on iPhone 4 so please shut t f up

  • p_amXtr

Alot of people are complaining about ‘already knowing what was going to be anounced’ and ‘it’s not that great, it’s not worth it’. First of yes we already knew what was gonna be announced but don’t complain becouse it’s actualy you who has been seening the leaks. Second I think it amaizing I mean the camera looks great, I mean it’s the first 64-chip on a smart phone, and the finger print scanner. Apple did a good job!

  • Tom Brady

Well it was perfect timing for me, I lost my iPhone 5 last week so I’m glad to get something new. The fingerprint id kinda freaks me out tho.

  • ClaudieX X

I never saw such a big jump since iphone 4…

  • p_amXtr

If you bought the iPhone 4 with it’s weak antenna or the iPhone 4s with the killer feature being Siri, then you are definitely getting this one haha

  • George Yfantopoulos

They removed the Full Black that iPhone 5 had? WTF?

    • mehrab

      :(

    • ClaudieX X

      yea…

    • Jeremy

IMO black and slate is uglier than white and silver, space gray and black look much better than black and slate.

      • George Yfantopoulos

        Not for everyone genius. :)

  • Tom Brady

Do you guys think the gold color is too gimmicky and one may get tired of looking at it, so its better to go with white or that black

  • GLL

Rumor sites like this will always completely ruin anything Apple puts out. I used to love this site…

  • GLL

If iPhone 6 isn’t a big change I think I’m jumping ships, I’ve had it with this same old shit

  • guest

maybe you guys should check on xiaomi mi3. seriusly, google it. i will not say that this phone & that phone is the best, the fastest etc.. just compare them according to what feature fits your daily use. cheers guys

  • Jonathan

Did anybody actually read the entire Cellular/Wireless thing?

  • Kurdistan Apple

    what is the difference between
    A7 chip with 64-bit architecture
    M7 motion coprocessor

    • ClaudieX X

64bits runs 2 32bits commands per cycle. so… same speed but double the bits means double the performance without changing the clock speed.
The M7 motion coprocessor concentrate all the sensors data of the iphone 5s leaving the A7 totally free for other tasks.

  • Rayan Saeed

What about the RAM? Has the RAM increased?

  • Joseph A. Ahmad

The battery life is impressive for what Apple has done. I’m hoping when I get the 5S it lives up to these claims. But remember, whenever you get a new iPhone (or any smartphone), let the battery drain completely and do a full battery charge to get the cycle going. And do that once a month at the very least. That will strengthen your battery.

  • Yunsar

Anyone have the specs of A7?

  • Urzo

I think I’ll be waiting until they make the phone bigger. Its too small/

  • sjah07

    1.5µ pixels

Isn’t ‘mhu’ the symbol for atomic mass units? What does it mean in this case?

  • Zackery Miller

all i can say is sony xperia z1. or even the nexus 5 and even a shitsung note 3 would win against iphone. like really? sony xperia zl 40 hours of music play back, 13 megapixel exmor rs camera, hmm 5 inch display fits perfectly in the hand:) um what else…. reality display tht looks so real its like ur not even looking at ur phone. iphone meh has the white on the home button. so kinda ruins it. hmm the power button is on the side on the xperia zl in the middle. dedicated caerma button. um lots of developer support for the xperia zl. nfc. playstation store for mobile:) android of course too. oh and a four core 1.5 ghz processor and 2 gigs of ram. 16 gigs storage with expandable storage up to 128 gigs or its 64 gigs not 100% sure ive seen both oh and say u drop the xperia zl and the screen breaks. theres a shatter sheild. tht way u have no tiny glass peices to cut urself on:)
