Nomad 3-inch Lighting Cable (teaser 001)

The three-inch Nomad Lightning cable made waves when it was announced back in November 2012. This handy little USB-to-Lighting accessory fits your key ring and comes to the rescue when you find yourself out and about with a dying iPhone and no charger in sight.

Originally a Kickstarter project, creators Kegan & Roberto developed the Nomad according to Apple’s strict requirements in order to earn the sought-after Lightning accessory certification. The Nomad cable is available for pre-order now, priced at $24.99 a pop (no shipments expected until June)…

The team bills the Nomad as a three-inch Apple certified lightning USB cable for your key ring with sync and charge capability.

The Nomad cable is perfect for use at work, in the car, at home, or anywhere on the go – it’s there when you need it!

The USB side plugs into a cap that has a key ring hole.

I’ll just outright admit: given the state of today’s mobile battery technology, the Nomad indeed is a must-have accessory.

The promo clip is quite nice, have a look.

You can pre-order yours at their web store.

  • I remember this! Definitely pre-ordering one right now.

  • Makes an awesome key chain and a useful one too.

    $25 overpriced

    $10 is fairly

  • I won’t mind keeping a full length original Apple cable in my pocket for that price. #no #thanks 🙂

  • weztimonial

Price is kinda steep. But I like it, gonna think about it.

  • johnm

If I were spending $25, I’d rather have the chargecard i think.

  • Karim Savage

I don’t agree with all the fuss about the price when in actuality it’s cheaper and more resourceful. You pay $20.00 for the USB cable and $20.00 for the power adapter (wall charger) so…

  • Victor Lockwood

It’s almost hilarious. The one problem they hope to solve coused another one that was prevalent in the entire video. The cable was too short! Lol

  • bigzjoseph

I’d get one it was free but for $25 here’s an excuse I already have two lighting USB cable

  • Eddiepradom

This is why Apple needs to improve battery life! If battery was good there wouldn’t be a need for this.

    • weztimonial

No matter how, you still gotta charge.

  • Adam Bowman

I have been thinking about the Charge Card, and this looks interesting too, but I’m afraid that both of these chargers will make the phone practically unusable while they are charging due to the really short length. I’m actually fine with keeping my original lighting cable in my pocket. There is no hassle when I do it — plus, while my phone is charging I have the freedom (and the cord length) to use it.

  • Why couldnt you just take a regular cord and fold it up then put tape around it so its only 3 inches long then attach it to your key chain?? Or am I missing something here?

  • mwpitt52

I am a kickstarter backer and will get mine soon. Will come in handy at work and phone needs a booster charge.

  • genXhippie

I like the idea/product, but it is way too pricey imo. So, I’ll wait until they become available on ebay for a third of the price (reasonable imo) which will also probably include shipping too.

  • genXhippie

Yes, that why I purchased perfectly functioning (charge and data) lighting cables from ebay for quite a bit less. No way, will I pay price gouging retail markup(s), if I need not to. Unless, of course I just have too much money, which unfortunately has not been issue thus far. ;P

  • a tiny usb table to charge it from my laptop with even worse battery life, and that probably has a bag big enough to have a charge for my iphone in it

  • Why to carry a full length cable to charge your iPad if you just can use 3-inch super cool cable and an oxford dictionary that weight just 2KG, it makes so much sense to carry a freaking book with you only for it to be at the proper height for the charge itself… And as we all already know-usb covers for hand held devices it so stable!

  • David Canfield

yeah i can just imagin some one with a gaming rig like me trying to use that wood be funny
