Wake up to the date, temperature and more with Wake Info

wake info 1

What’s the first thing you do when you hear your alarm clock go off in the morning? If you’re like me, then after hitting the snooze button a couple of times, you look at your phone to see what time it is and if you missed any messages overnight.

But wouldn’t it be nice if you could get this kind of information without having to look at your phone? That way you could skip that part of your morning routine and go right to stretching, or whatever else you do. Well you can, with Wake Info…

Wake Info is a jailbreak tweak that enables your iPhone to read out various messages to you after you have either dismissed or snoozed an alarm clock. These messages can give you the date and other data, or say something simple like: “Wake up Cody.”

Once downloaded, the tweak’s options can be configured from your Settings app. There’s a toggle to enable Wake Info, show notification banners, show an ‘active alarm’ badge on the Clock app, and then of course a place to customize your wake messages.

You can set up to 3 messages to play after you either Dismiss an alarm, or Snooze it, with the option of including: the temperature, your device’s battery status, calendar events, the date and time, and the number of your unread texts, emails and missed calls.

The tweak uses the built-in text-to-speech function, so the spoken messages sound great. And you can also set it to open up a custom URL in Safari alongside the messages. So if you have a favorite site you visit every morning—like iDB—this really comes in handy.

I think Wake Info would be much more useful, though, if it could actually read your missed messages to you, or better yet things like @mentions in Twitter. But other than that, I don’t have any complaints. It works with all iOS 5+ devices, and Siri’s not required.

If you’d like to check it out, you can find it in Cydia, in the BigBoss repo, for free.

    Where’s Jeff for this?

    • Kurt

      That wasn’t nice to Cody

      • deepdvd

If Cody did videos along with his tweak reviews like Jeff (mostly does), people wouldn’t ask that question. Videos are the biggest reason to like iDB.

It’s not offensive, it’s just a video is a more demonstrating way to show the tweak.

I think it’s kinda mean to just say “Where’s Jeff” as if you don’t like the guy who wrote it (Cody). If you didn’t like something, just help him out and tell him how to improve. This way he can improve, and you’re getting the content you want

This is great, but isn’t there a way for me to choose which alarms will trigger Wake Info? I don’t need every little alarm telling me to wake up.

And the alarm badge really does come in handy!

Victor, you can delete the messages and create your own. Be sure to use the %% in the same manner as the examples. Mess around with it. It’s pretty easy to figure out.

Oh, yeah, I know, John. I put custom text already.

What I meant is you can’t choose which of your alarms trigger the tweak — or can you?

And it’s activating not only for alarms, but for timers as well. At least here!

Very useful when your eyes are closed while waking up; whats a computer if it can’t talk? ;-) … for some reason it can’t get the weather data on the ipad….

This tweak is great. I really liked Wake With Weather but this one gives you the ability to manipulate the spoken message. My wife, who has taken a vow of frowns, even laughed out loud at the messages we will now be waking to. I’d like to donate but there’s not an option within the developer’s Cydia page.
