iPhone 5 pricing and availability

Now that Apple’s executive team has gone down the list of all of the iPhone 5′s new features, it’s time to get down to the important stuff. In wrapping up the iPhone presentation, Phil schiller announces pricing and availability.

For starters, the handset will come in the two usual flavors: white and black. And it will also come in the same three storage configurations: 16GB, 32GB and 64GB at the same $199, $299, and $399 respectively…

When can you get it? As expected, preorders for the handset start on September 14th, and they start shipping September 21st.

Initially, it will be available in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore, and will launch in more countries on the 28th. In 100 countries by December.

iPhone 5 comes in either white & silver or black & slate, and will be available in the US for a suggested retail price of $199 (US) for the 16GB model and $299 (US) for the 32GB model and $399 (US) for the 64GB model. iPhone 5 will be available from the Apple Online Store (www.apple.com), Apple’s retail stores, and through AT&T, Sprint, Verizon Wireless and select Apple Authorized Resellers. iPhone 5 will be available in the US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and the UK on Friday, September 21, and customers can pre-order their iPhone 5 beginning Friday, September 14. iPhone 4S will also be available for just $99 (US) and iPhone 4 will be available for free with a two-year contract.****** iOS 6 software will be available on Wednesday, September 19 as a free software update.

iPhone 5 will roll out worldwide to 22 more countries on September 28, including Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

        No notification LED, no camera button. Some consumers compare features. It has a speedy processor but what does that really mean for someone that’s not going to use they’re phone to play video games ?

        the iPhone will most likely NEVER get a notification LED. it goes against their design. a flashing obnoxious light…that’s very Android. the faster processor means apps will launch faster, apps will work faster, there won’t be a lag. there is a camera button…when you launch the app you can use the volume key. that’s been the case for almost a year now. we don’t need ANOTHER button on the phone, there are already enough of them. simplicity in design is Apple. if you don’t like simplicity then you should get a different phone.

        Notification LED is the one in the back you have to turn on the setting, its been there since 5.0. Doesn’t need a camera button when there is a quick camera option right on the lock screen and you can use the volume up button to take the picture. The speedy processor will allow the phone to pretty much do everything faster, that doesn’t sound too bad to me. I don’t see what you are bitching about. -____-

      The hardware is ok at best. I Wished for a wider screen not taller screen but I’m gonna wait and see. Software (iOS6) wise Apple gave us 1000 of useless features. The ONE feature I really cared about was Quick Reply and Quick Compose for iMessages or Text Messages hate having to exit the App every time I wanna reply to someone its annoying. Whats MORE ANNOYING is Apple gave this feature to Twitter and FaceBook via Notification Center REALLY APPLE WTF. New Maps looks cool but its already dated, no walking directions, no transportation directions. Side Note that Cydia Tweak “Display Candy” specifically the “Fade Effect” is more Apple like for App Switching than the default switcher effect. Check it out its amazing. One More Side Note: Cydia Tweak “Nitrous” lets ALL APP STORE Apps use Apple Restricted Nitro Engine ( google for more details ) all my apps run silky smooth. Battery Life still the same which is great.

        What you are saying is perfectly true. All these cydia tweaks are enough not to update to iOS 6. And btw Panaroma Camera? Isn’t that what chpwn gave us a long time ago? I was really disappointed by Apple. They should call this iOS 5S because iOS 6 Is a symbol for a huge software update. Kinda like what iOS 5 did to iOS 4.
