pod2g confirms that the upcoming A5 jailbreak works with iOS 5.1.1

And the good news just keeps rolling in… hot of the heels of pod2g’s new iPad (iPad 3) untethered jailbreak video, he’s now confirming that his jailbreak works with Apple’s newly released iOS 5.1.1 firmware as well.

This means that anyone who buys a new iPad, iPhone 4S, or iPad 2 with 5.1.1 pre-installed, or anyone who accidentally updated to iOS 5.1.1 without saving their SHSH blobs will still be able to jailbreak once the tool is released…

We have a good feeling that the new jailbreak will be touching down soon. According to pod2g, the jailbreak will come bundled in a tool created by the Chronic Dev Team.

So even if you don’t plan on downgrading your A5 device like we showed you how to do earlier, you can still jailbreak on iOS 5.1.1 or iOS 5.1 once the new jailbreak is released.

        The 4.3.1 Jailbreak also worked on 4.3.0, but nobody wanted to implement it into the tools, so better update.

    Having an iPhone 4S originally with iOS 5.1 never jailbroken, when the JB for iOS 5.1 cames out, and the iPhone gets jailbroken, will i be able to use SAM?

      Unless you were already using SAM, I’m pretty sure Apple already changed their activation method so it no longer works for anybody trying to unlock with SAM now.

    I have a Iphone 4S currently at 5.1 and locked on AT&T that I need to unlock. Will the release of this new jailbreak allow me to unlock it or do I need to wait for something else to come?
    Is there anything I can do right now to unlock a Iphone 4S?
    Is my only option the gevey chip?

      Well, there´s was SAM unlock, and i mean was cuz Apple apparentely patched SAM for those who didn´t save the “ticket” before the Apple´s patch, so now i guess, we may have to wait for a SAM update or another program to show up…

        I get your point of view, about the gevey chip, i´m not sure.
        I guess its probably better to wait for the release of the new JB and then, yes ask around for updates on SAM or a new unlocking method.

      well you should start saving your blobs from now on, it is worth saving them trust me anyway just update to 5.1.1 and wait for the jailbreak to come out then as I said save all shsh that are available now. use tinyumbrella.

    Good to know.. I hope A5 devices will also have the freedom permanently to restore from any previous firmware with shsh blobs like A4 devices in the future.
