New Apple TV announced with new interface and 1080p support

By , Mar 7, 2012

As expected, Tim Cook just announced a new Apple TV with a brand new UI and 1080p support in tow.

The rumors have been swirling about the Apple TV refresh for some time now, and they ultimately proved to be true.

With the new Apple TV comes 1080p support for iTunes in the Cloud, which means you can re-download all of your purchased content in 1080p for free.

The device, apparently, will look externally similar to the existing product from what we can tell.

The new Apple TV will be available for $99 on March 16th, a week from today. Pre-orders start today.

Does anyone know when we can download this UI? In not really fussed on the Jailbreak anyway an have barely used it, I sort all my stuff into iTunes anyhow, the new UI looks awesome.

Just 1080p isn’t worth an upgrade for me though, I’ll wait for the tv.

I bought the Apple TV 48 days ago. So I have to purchase the new Apple TV to get 1080p? Really?

I’m not trying to be a jerk but it was no surprise there would be a release soon. Especially if you view tech sites like these. I never buy electronics without doing research. Sorry. Keep the apple tv and also buy a ROKu. You’ll be happy with the combo.
