iPhone 3.1.3 Baseband 05.12.01 Unlock On Its Way?

Some good news for those of you who accidentally updated their iPhone to 3.1.3 and are now stuck without being able to unlock or downgrade.

Sherif Ashim announced today on Twitter that he successfully crashed the 05.12.01 baseband, which really is step 1 in finding an exploit to unlock it. Later on, MuscleNerd confirmed that it was a totally legit find.

What does this mean? Well, this means that at the time you’re reading this, the Dev Team is probably working on turning this exploit into an iPhone 3.1.3 unlock.

iPhone OS 4.0 is still months away so I wouldn’t be surprised if the Dev Team released this 3.1.3 unlock instead of saving it for 4.0.

Early updaters rejoice! An iPhone unlock for baseband 05.12.01 is on its way!

    plzxzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz release the unlock for 5.12.01. Someone gave me their iphone for me to unlock and i promised him i would. Plus he givin me 50 bucks if I do. I was gonna use that money to buy my mother a nice gift for mother’s day which is coming up soon. Lots of things ride on this unlock. Please release it. God will bless u if u do. NO BULLSHIT

    I hope they will launch it very soon!!!! meanwhile, beware of these companies, easyiphoneunlocker.us and 3GSUnlock.co.uk. they offered unlock to all iphone models and all firmware but after you bought their product, they will tell you that there is no unlock for iphone 3gs 3.1.3 bb 05.12.01 at the moment!!! spread the news and don’t believe them

    Of course I’m happy for the jailbreak but that was expected… at some point. (I was already in a jailbreak state because I rolled back to 3.1.2 and jailbreak there) Spirit does work indeed !!! I’ve tried it my self.

    The impossible is the unlock. I think that we are all waiting for a miracle to happen. I’m really desperate… I’m not even sure that an exploit was found in the first place :(
    End if it did… they probably don’t know what to do with it.

    In my opinion the ”reason” that they say that they will not release the unlock until iphone 4G gets out is B.S.!!!!!
    It’s not even logical. iPhone 4G will probably have the same difference that the iphone 3G has with the iphone 3Gs on unlocking —> you can unlock iphone 3G but you cannot unlock iphone 3Gs they are different… so the whole reason is fake. It’s not a believable reason to say.

    Now if there are other reasons.. ok…. but this is what I hear the most.

    Please!!!!! Unlock!!!!! I’m willing to ”donate” !!!

    I have a contract so for me the jailbreak was the big thing, especially with it being unteathered!

    Hopefully someone will get their ass into gear and release an unlock to help the rest of us out……

    I’ve tried every break that claims to be able to break iPhone 3g baseband 5.12.01 bootloader 6.4 it’s brand new just got it two months ago … Is there something I’m doing wrong or is it mines new so I have to wait for the release when 4.0 comes out … Don’t care about the unlock just jailbreak I have AT&T … Even spirit didn’t work on my laptop windows 7 after changing and trying all the compatibility modes …

    That’s hard to believe Testerosafun. It should work. Have in mind that you might have a conflict between jailbreaks. I was already jailbreak-en with blackrain and I wanted to install spirit on top of it and I had problems and my iphone was stuck in DFU mode <— or whatever its called. So I had to restore from my backup and jailbreak with spirit alone

    This is truly unfair and illegal practice by Apple by locking phone using baseband upgrade, and I am pretty sure there are laws that protect us consumers from this corporate tyranny. After all all of us have paid for the iphone even under contract!! (much more than actual cost of phone). I suggest we all gang up and create a website hire a lawfirm and file a common lawsuit against APPLE time to show the corporate leechers this is not how a business works! Everybody is to gain from this and I’m sure many big lawfirms will be more than interested in pursuing this case for personal gains too.

    And no unlock after unlock is not the real solution! this is like Microsoft upgrades the windows and locks down your computer and your life with it! would you accept it?????

    I am serious about it and lets discuss, those who think its time we taught monopoles a tough lesson.

    Hey guyz i have got the unlock u only have to do that first go to http://www.spiritjb.com/ and download the software and it will jailbreak ur iphone with latest baseband 05.12.01
    then do the following procedure

    1 deactivate 3G
    2 add the source to cydia apt.geohot.com
    3 Install com.geohot.purplesn0w
    4 wait until the installation and restart your iPhone
    5 iPhone is unlocked

    I have received an iphone however I took it to get unblocked however the technician stated that he was unable to unlock the phone because of the updated software. This is the info of the iphone. version: 3.1.2 (7D11) and firmware: 05.12.01…. Is it still possible to unlock???

    lanena, no, it ain´t a lost cause, you have to download fuzzyband from cydia, and check wich version of bootloader your iphone have, if it’s 5.8 or lower. you´ll be able to downgrade your baseband.

    3GS running 3.1.3 7E18 05.12.01. My amazing 3.1.2 3gs unlocked jailbroken decided to never turn on again tried fix with everything and apple gave this as replacement. I have it jailbroken with spirit and I’ve restored most of my cydia/rock apps via wifi, but I’m usin it as a damn palm pilot! I want unlock please for godssakes! I also have a friends 3gs 3.1.2 unlocked via blackra1n but it is at the slide for emergency screen. Either fix will work because I’m just gonna give her the one that doesn’t!

    my 3g is locked at the usb cable and itunes screen and SIM is not valid. (updated to 3.1.3)Is it possible to just open the phone so I can use it as an ipod, before the unlock is realeased?

    kunge yes even if your iphone is block you can jailbreak it and use it as ipod touch just do the blackrain jailbreak and it will be jailbroken but not unlock so you can use it but no to make calls hope that can help you more ifo hit me on me email final_studios@hotmail.com

    seems ppl that we are screwed… month passed and we see no progress in unlocking bb5.12.01 with bl 5.9… so is what i`m saying that now we have nice expensive iPods that once were working as phones…. damn u apple

    Lets still keep our fingers crossed…I am sure Dev team will work out something in near future…or lets wait for OS4 to be released….If you follow the Dev Team on twitter you will see that they are working on it…..I dont know about you but I am unwilling to give up untill I read from the Dev Team officially that they would not be able to unlock this ever…..Frustrating but good things do come to those who wait…or atleast lets hope they do :(

    Yes its been more than 3 months and I agree its frustrating but read Sauriks blog and you will understand there’s a whole lot to it….and I second you on “Screw u Apple”…..but more than 3.1.3 the 5.12.01 is the problem and surely dev team will find an exploit….I am glad with jb fo now..as u said..expensive ipod….but what other option do we have but to wait and hope for some exploit :(

    I heard that geohot will release limerain early June to unlock iphone 3g/s 3.1.3(5.12.1 bl 5.9 and up) and another tool for unlocking smart phones which they call blitzzcall will be out late june. U could check iphonetouchspiritblogspotcom

    I wasn’t aware of such things… I just bought the iphone from a friend of a friend and update it the same day because itunes said I should do so. There was no way for me to know these things. I didn’t even know what jailbrake or unlock was. (The iphone was already jailbroken)
    I didn’t have a REASON to RESEARCH for it!!! I was unaware of the iphone’s ”world” and what goes around it.

    Never had an iphone before, never even had a mac pc, I was and still am a windows person.
    So stop being such an a$$ and try to think how you would be feeling if this happened to you.
