Tihmstar releases v3ntex, a tfp0 exploit for iOS 12 devices

Matrix code hacked iPhone.

Just under two weeks ago, hacking guru tihmstar released v1ntex, a voucher_swap-like exploit for 4K devices that contributed to iOS 11.4.x support in both the Electra and unc0ver jailbreaks. But just this morning, tihmstar released another exploit dubbed v3ntex, which allegedly supports iOS 12 devices.

Tihmstar shared his exciting announcement via Twitter Monday morning with proof of the exploit, adding that he only tested his v3ntex exploit on an iPhone 6 running iOS 12.1.2 and that it could likely still do with some improvements:

Unc0ver v3.0.0 pre-release revised with reliability enhancements for the voucher_swap exploit on iOS 12

Hacker and unc0ver lead developer Pwn20wnd dropped the 27th revision to the unc0ver v3.0.0 pre-release on Monday, and it's said to significantly improve the reliability of Brandon Azad’s voucher_swap exploit on supported iterations of iOS 12, including 12.0 through 12.1.2.

Pwn20wnd announced the revision via Twitter Monday morning, incorporating a link to the official GitHub repository where it can be downloaded:

Unc0ver v3.0.0 pre-release revised with rootfs remount support on iOS 12 & more

Hacker and unc0ver lead developer Pwn20wnd appears to have been busy this weekend, revising the unc0ver v3.0.0 pre-release jailbreak tool at least five more times since Saturday afternoon. Betas 22-26 include the brand-new rootfs remount that surfaced yesterday afternoon compliments of hacker and software tinkerer @MiscMisty.

Pwn20wnd took to Twitter this morning to announce the bulk of those revisions and elucidate what they represent:

A rootfs remount is being released for iOS 12, raising hope for a normal iOS 12 jailbreak with Cydia

Avid jailbreakers who are on iOS 12.0-12.1.2 currently have one of two options: 1) use rootlessJB 3.0, a developer-centric, SSH-based rootless jailbreak without Cydia; or 2) wait for a full-featured jailbreak solution with Cydia (like Electra or unc0ver) to surface. Fortunately, those who are stuck in the latter boat could be one step closer to jailbreaking as of this weekend.

Hackers @MiscMisty and @Lakr223 took to Twitter early Saturday morning to display a proof of concept of a working iOS 12.x-oriented rootfs remount. But perhaps more importantly, they noted how they would be releasing it very shortly.

Colorize the Twitter app however you like with TwitterDarkMode

Twitter’s official app supports a feature called Night Mode that can give the app a dark-colored makeover on demand; but compared to some other apps, this ‘dark mode’-esque feature leaves a lot to be desired.

Fortunately, iOS developer Chloeeisoaky recognized these shortcomings and responded to them with the release of a new free jailbreak tweak called TwitterDarkMode.

New revision to unc0ver v3.0.0 pre-release adds support for tihmstar’s v1ntex exploit

In what appears to be a pleasant surprise for the jailbreak community on Friday, hacker and unc0ver lead developer Pwn20wnd revised the unc0ver v3.0.0 pre-release to its 20th beta with official support for tihmstar’s voucher_swap-like v1ntex exploit.

Pwn20wnd shared the news via Twitter just this afternoon, sharing the usual links to the official download page and to the /r/jailbreak sub-Reddit:

Cr4shed: A new tweak that can assist in troubleshooting various types of crashes

Veteran jailbreakers should be more than familiar with the ever-so-popular CrashReporter app from Cydia. It works as a virtual diagnostic tool to help you discern the reasoning behind certain crashes; especially those concerning apps, jailbreak tweaks, and the SpringBoard itself.

As useful as CrashReporter is, it’s not always easy to understand, and that’s why iOS developer Muirey03 has released a new free jailbreak tweak called Cr4shed.

Unc0ver v3.0.0 pre-release receives async_wake and firmware checker-related bug fixes

It wasn’t too long ago that hacker and unc0ver lead developer Pwn20wnd released unc0ver v2.2.6 to the masses and dropped subsequent revisions to the unc0ver v3.0.0 pre-release for public testing, but Pwn20wnd is known for being quite the active developer and he appears to have revised the pre-release again since our last coverage with additional micro-updates.

According to the changelog published at Pwn20wnd’s official GitHub repository, betas 18 and 19 of the unc0ver v3.0.0 pre-release comprise of the ensuing changes:

Pwn20wnd releases unc0ver v2.2.6, revises unc0ver v3.0.0 pre-release with fixes & improvements

Hacker and unc0ver lead developer Pwn20wnd released unc0ver v2.2.6 to the masses this week with bootstrap extraction and Cydia installation-related bug fixes and pushed two more revisions to the unc0ver v3.0.0 pre-release with a bevy of other bug fixes and enhancements.

The changelog published on Pwn20wnd’s GitHub repository cites the following changes present in the unc0ver v2.2.6 public release:

Apple officially stops signing iOS 12.1.1 and 12.1.2, thwarting firmware downgrades via iTunes

Following an exceptionally-long and unheard-of grace period, Apple has officially stopped signing both iOS 12.1.1 and 12.1.2 Tuesday evening, a move that packs some serious implications for the jailbreak community.

Update: iOS 12.1.1 beta 3 is apparently still being signed at the time of this writing. Downgrade immediately while you have the chance!

Apple first launched these firmware versions on December 5th and December 17th respectively, each to address small bug fixes and performance improvements in the operating system. But as we know, no software is entirely bug-proof.

Pwn20wnd revises the unc0ver v3.0.0 pre-release with bug fixes and code improvements

Hacker and unc0ver lead developer Pwn20wnd issued two more revisions to the unc0ver v3.0.0 pre-release early Tuesday morning with some important bug fixes and code improvements. At the time of this writing, the unc0ver v3.0.0 pre-release is now on beta 15.

Citing the changelog published on Pwn20wnd’s official GitHub repository, beta 14 and beta 15 of the unc0ver v3.0.0 pre-release encompass the following changes:

Electra 1.3.1 released to improve exploit success rate for A7-A8(X) devices on iOS 11.2+

Another update released Tuesday by the Electra Team should make pwning iOS 11 easier with the Electra jailbreak tool. Electra version 1.3.1 introduces some much-needed success rate improvements for A7 to A8(X) devices (4K), expectantly reducing the number of times that you’d need to tap “Jailbreak” in the app to complete the process.

The Electra Team first announced the update early this morning via Twitter, linking to the official download page:
