Patina FineWoven case wallpapers for iPhone

Apple decided to eliminate leather products from their accessory line up and replace them with what they call FineWoven products. The decision has been quite controversial. When the cases launched, first reviews have complained quite aggressively about how the cases are easily marred with even simple, every day contact. This FineWoven wallpaper collection captures that patina.

Personally, I’ve been wondering about this recent shift in materials as well. Specifically, how are non natural materials better for the environment? I don’t have an educated background on the topic, so I cannot pretend to ruminate on the why’s, how’s, or what’s involved in the decision for Apple to eliminate leather from their line up or the environmental impact of the switch. I do take their carbon neutral marketing ploy with some hesitation.

Opinions or uneducated suspicions about leather vs alt-leather materials aside, Apple switched to a new iPhone case offering. The FineWoven is being billed as a premium material, similar to the premium experience one expects with leather. However, early reviews and armchair comments have lambasted FineWoven, given the materials quick propensity to look damaged and cheap.

@BasicApplyGuy impressively captured the textured look of the FineWoven cases in these incredible wallpapers. Additionally, in these “scratch” versions, the distressed nature of the material is shown in full effect. He claimed the frustration over the cases tendency to damage is “hyperbolic,” but metaphorized the commentary in the following downloads.

I particularly enjoyed the Scratch edition images because the wallpapers themselves seem overly hyperbolic in the overly distressed nature of the image. Each download appears as a caricature of frenzied complaints of almost “click-bait” commentary on the new material.

@BasicAppleGuy is also offering a non distressed version of the wallpaper too, on his dedicated blog post. Check them out for a fresh-off-the-Apple-Store-shelf version of the FineWoven images.
