A few days ago, we reported about the “big surprise” that was going to be included in the latest release of GreenPois0n: custom animated boot logos. Now that GreenPois0n is out, you can fairly easily add a boot logo.
All you need is a jailbroken iPhone, basic SSH knowledge, and about 5 minutes of your time. Without further ado, here are instructions on how to add an animated boot logo to your iPhone…
We’ve got some good news for Windows users! Yesterday, Chronic Dev Team member, @p0sixninja announced that the Windows version of Greenpois0n RC5 should be released “tomorrow or the next day”, meaning this weekend.
For those that have been out of the know lately, The Chronic Dev Team officially released Greenpois0n RC5 yesterday, providing the first iOS 4.2.1 untethered jailbreak for all iOS devices without the need of any SHSH blobs…
All signs have been pointing to Apple releasing iOS 4.3 in the very near future, with speculation that Apple’s 4.3 announcement could even come next week. Most speculation is centering on an Apple announcement taking place within the next 10 days.
Besides an iOS 4.3 announcement, Apple is rumored to be announcing the iPad 2, the Verizon iPhone’s “Personal Hotspot” feature on AT&T, and an official release of in-app subscriptions.
Whether or not all of the speculation is accurate, it’s evident that Apple will be holding an event in the near future…
Some of you who tried to jailbreak with GreenPois0n yesterday might have encountered a problem where you were stuck on the “GreenPois0n initialized” message, not being able to go on with the jailbreak process.
The Chronic Dev Team worked on a fix for this, which has been implemented in GreenPois0n RC5 2, which you can download from our downloads section…
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few hours, you know that the long awaited GreenPois0n untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 was finally released.
Maybe it’s just me, but I always seem to run into some sort of problem with missing or broken Cydia installations after a successful jailbreak.
To fix this issue I was able to install RedSn0w 0.9.6 on top of my GreenPois0n jailbreak with no ill results. By doing this you will still retain your untethered jailbreak, while gaining the necessary Cydia icon.
Now that Greenpois0n RC5 finally provides the long awaited iOS 4.2.1 untethered jailbreak (without the need of SHSH Blobs), many iPhone 4 owners with unlocked iPhones’ have been told to hold off upgrading to 4.2.1 as you will lose the ability to unlock (for now).
But thanks to TinyUmbrella developer @notcom, there is now a way to upgrade to iOS 4.2.1 without upgrading your baseband. Unfortunately, currently you will only be able to unlock your iPhone 4 on the older 1.59.00 baseband (modem firmware). So if you are not on the older baseband, you will not be able to unlock your iPhone 4.
For those of you with the older 1.59.00 baseband, follow the guide below to preserve your iPhone 4 baseband and unlock and jailbreak your iPhone 4 on iOS 4.2.1…
The GreenPois0n untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 was released a few minutes ago and I already took it for a spin on my older iPhone 3G sporting iOS 4.2.1.
This step by step guide will show you how to use GreenPois0n to jailbreak your iPhone iOS 4.2.1. It’s worth noting that this version will not hacktivate your iPhone and that so far, there is only a Mac version…
After weeks of talks, wait, and rumors, the Chronic Dev Team finally came through with the release of their GreenPois0n untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1.
Up until now, there was no other solution but use a beta version of RedSn0w, which let’s be honest, wasn’t very stable. I don’t know if this release will be better than RedSn0w as there isn’t much information about this version of GreenPois0n so far.
All we know is that it works with the iPhone 3G, 3GS, and iPhone running iOS 4.2.1. Even better, unlike RedSn0w, you won’t need to have your 42b3 SHSH blobs saved in order for GreenPois0n to work.
A few days ago we reported about a “big surprise” to come in the next version of GreenPois0n. At the time, we speculated it could be a baseband downgrade that would allow for an easier unlock.
The surprise was revealed today by JayWalker, who is apparently helping out the Chronic Dev Team with GreenPois0n. I hope you didn’t have your hopes too high up there because you’re going to be disappointed as JayWalker confirmed that the surprise is custom animated boot logos…
If you’ve been keeping your ear to the street, a.k.a. keeping up with the latest jailbreak news on Twitter, then you may have stumbled upon several rumblings about a “big surprise” that will be included with the upcoming GreenPois0n jailbreak.
This newest version of GreenPois0n will provide an untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 firmware, and is destined to arrive any day now.
What could the so-called “big surprise” be? Will it be something we’ve seen before? Will it be a totally new feature that will blow our minds?
Well, well, well. It looks like someone else is getting into the untethered jailbreak fun for iOS 4.2.1. That’s right, today Chronic Dev Team unveiled a teaser video showcasing their untethered jailbreak for the iPhone.
Chronic Dev, the creators of the popular GreenPois0n jailbreak tool, are the same devs behind this upcoming tool for iOS 4.2.1, but they aren’t alone in the rush to untether Apple’s latest public firmware.
As you know, the Dev Team has been working on beta versions of RedSn0w that is also capable of jailbreaking iOS 4.2.1 untethered.
The more options, the merrier! Check inside for the sweet video details…
