Nine years ago today, Apple was going to reinvent the phone

By , Jan 9, 2016

A widescreen iPod with touch controls. A revolutionary mobile phone. A breakthrough internet communications device. An iPod. A phone. And an internet communicator. An iPod. A phone. Are you getting it?

I still get goose bumps watching this.

Definitely one of the best product launches.

If only they knew then what they had started.

  • I love going back to watch this. Probably one of, if not the best, product launches.

im using sometime the little brother of the first iphone, the first iPod touch and im still amazed with its quality, expect for the low processing power it looks like is a device from recent years and not from 9 years ago…

I was 17 (just got my license) and was in a graphic design class when I use to read about it. But of course then I wasn’t really an apple fan. Other than using one of those iPod minis, I disliked Macs.

I could go re-watch this keynote every year,

  • You mean there was a time before the iPhone?

Brilliant. First time watching this for me. Makes you appreciate the device you have in your hand just a little more.

I remember when the iPhone came out. I was a big Microsoft fan at the time but I stopped into an ATT store just to try slide-to-unlock and pinch-to-zoom. Truly incredible innovations.

I’ve always used Macs throughout grade school. Never really liked Apple as I’ve always related them to school. Fast forward to 2007, was a freshman in college. iPhone came out and it’s little brother the iPod Touch. I was intrigued as it was something brand new. I didn’t have the funds for the iPhone at the time, but was happy to get the Touch as my first Apple purchase. Been an Apple user since and owned every iPhone apart from the 3G. Gone through a handful of Macs and iPads too.

Thanks Apple! I love you, but can’t say the same for my wallet.
