Nomad today launched an interesting lifestyle accessory for your iPhone, dubbed the Wallet. It’s literally a premium bifold leather wallet with an integrated 3.5-inch Lightning cable and a built-in 2,400mAh battery, enough to provide a full charge for your Lightning-based iPhone and then some more.

The wallet holds six credit or gift cards, cash, is made from Saffiano leather and is just 0.75 inch thick when closed. If you’re a fan of real wallets, not those iPhone cases that double as wallets, you can pre-order Nomad’s Wallet for $79.

Featuring minimalist, traditional design, Nomad says the accessory is the size of a standard wallet measuring at 4.7 inches wide and 3.5 inches tall when closed.

Inside, there’s a built-in 2,400mAh lithium-ion rechargeable battery and the supporting circuit boards powered by a dedicated system-on-a-chip.

The battery can providing a full charge for your iPhone 6s and more than a full recharge for older iPhone models providing 5 Volts and 1.5 Ampere of power out for the Lightning cable. When not in use, the Lightning cable is tucked away inside an integrated pocket so it doesn’t add bulk.

“By placing the battery on the spine (patent pending) we were able create a wallet that is no thicker than your standard bill-fold,” Nomad explains.

“It’s also about the same size as your normal wallet, accomplished by painstakingly trimming wasted space in most wallet patterns.” The battery is protected by the high crush strength aluminum casing, augmented by high strength polycarbonate end caps.

The internal battery is recharged through any micro USB cable and takes approximately two hours to fully charge. The four indicator lights on the Wallet provide a quick readout of the current battery level.

How well can this wallet hold up to people sitting on it every day? I really like the design of this wallet. Just not sure if it can hold up to the test if time.

  • Niclas

Half the size and power and I would have bought it.

  • Vince Reedy

Can’t think sitting on a battery all day is the greatest idea, especially not for $79. Why not just get the battery in same capacity for less than $10 and store it wherever you want?

That’s just another thing for my already forgetful mind to remember. I hate stupid battery packs. I have like 4 of them sitting in my drawer. They’re a pain to charge. A pain to carry. And a pain to use. Now enter this product. You already need your wallet everyday. The only issue I find is remembering to charge it and the fact that it only holds six cards. And the price. No for me but it’s def. A good idea and better than a stupid battery pack.

Shouldn’t be sitting on a wallet to begin with… horrible for one’s back!

    • Mine’s thin enough that I don’t even notice it. Even when I concentrate on trying to feel it, I can’t!

Great idea. Now someone can grab your phone and wallet in one go.

  • David Hvilivitzki

I was ready to order when I noticed that there is no place to put coins.
