Brightness Activator 2: adjust screen brightness with Activator gestures

If you ever felt that you wanted a quicker way of adjusting your device’s brightness rather than opening Control Center, you should try out a new jailbreak tweak known as Brightness Activator 2 that takes advantage of Activator gestures.

Just by looking at its name, you must have guessed by now what the tweak does. Brightness Activator 2 allows users to adjust their device’s display brightness by making use of Activator. This means that you can assign Activator gestures to increase or decrease the brightness by a specific amount without having to launch Control Center or Settings app.

Once you install the tweak, you’ll have to head to the tweak’s preferences pane to configure it. You’ll find a kill switch toggle to enable or disable it as well as a few other toggles that allow you to disable the tweak when you’re on the Home screen or when the keyboard pops up on your screen. You can also disable the tweak when you’re in certain applications.

You’ll also find a slider to adjust the value by which you want the brightness to increase or decrease when you invoke the tweak. You can also enable the ‘Force Mode’ to increase or decrease the brightness by a larger amount. For example, if you’ve set the brightness to increase by 10%, enabling the ‘Force Mode’ will increase the brightness by 25% when you invoke the tweak rather than 10%. At the bottom of the tweak’s preferences, you’ll find two options to set an Activator gesture for increasing or decreasing the screen’s brightness.

Personally, I find Brightness Activator 2 quite useful because I can simply hold down the Volume Up button to quickly raise the brightness level without venturing into Control Center. The same goes for decreasing the brightness level but this time with the Volume Down button.

Brightness Activator 2 is compatible with iOS 6 and iOS 7 devices. If you’re interested to get your hands on Brightness Activator 2, you can download it for free from Cydia’s BigBoss repository. Activator will also be installed if you don’t already have it.
