iOS 7.1.2

Apple has seeded iOS 7.1.2 as an over-the-air update and through iTunes for compatible iPhone, iPad and iPod touch models. The latest software version includes improved iBeacon connectivity and stability, fixes a bug with data transfer for certain third-party accessories and corrects a major Mail attachment privacy issue. The full changelog has been posted ahead.

If you are currently jailbroken on iOS 7.1.1 or below, you will be happy to hear that the Chinese jailbreak tool Pangu is compatible with iOS 7.1.2. You are safe to update to the latest software version, at which point you can follow Jeff’s guide on how to jailbreak iOS 7.1.2 using Pangu. Just like on iOS 7.1.1 and below, it remains an untethered jailbreak.

The official changelog for iOS 7.1.2:

This update contains bug fixes and security updates, including:

  • Improves iBeacon connectivity and stability
  • Fixes a bug with data transfer for some 3rd party accessories, including bar code scanners
  • Corrects an issue with data protection class of Mail attachments

iOS 7.1.2 is also available from our Downloads page.

  • Eliot A Anderson

    well shit

  • Anthony Nguyen

Nothing major. Going to keep my jailbreak.

    • kamranm1200

Dude, you can upgrade and then re-jailbreak. The Pangu jailbreak is compatible with 7.1.2. It says that in the article.

      • Manuel Molina

Pointless for him to upgrade when the only useful thing is the mail attachment; that can be patched with a patch from Cydia if I’m not mistaken. 7.1.2 is useful if your device messes up and you need an excuse to upgrade for a swap-out from Apple.

  • M Last

    I think they didn’t block jailbrek 7.1.1

    • Mike M. Powell

Ih8snow said it didn’t patch the jailbreak o_O

      • Rahimo

But where is the download link ?! I checked the download section, and it is not there !! Please help.

  • Mike M. Powell

    And it begins ._.

  • Rounak

    Hey
    Joe
    Apple also released Mac 10.9.4

  • Framboogle

    It’s jailbreakable!

  • Andy

iH8sn0w confirmed on Twitter that Pangu can jailbreak 7.1.2.

  • Blip dude

I’ll wait and see if the current pangu Jailbreak tool is usable with this firmware version before updating my Phone.

  • Alex-V

    I keep my iOS 8 beta 🙂

    • Al

I’ve been going back and forth.. which to keep. iOS 8 beta or 7.1.1 jailbreak.. Although I enjoy the flexibility of having a jailbroken device. iOS 8 with Hand Off w/ my Mac.. is neat.

      • Alex-V

I also..but there are some big improvements on iTunes match the better photo app to edit them of course the new keyboard and more that’s why I keep the beta 🙂

      • Jonathan

        or…

        www . geeksn0w . it/Pangu_unofficial/index . html

      • Al

Yeah, I heard about that on Reddit. But I doubt that would happen. Don’t get me wrong.. I want it to happen.

Pangu is already working on an iOS 8 exploit and I figured why would they team up with BlackGeek to jailbreak beta iOS 8. It seems more likely they would wait until iOS 8 become official then release a jailbreak for it.

      • Jonathan

Why would they? The exploit for 7.1.x has already been exposed. Besides, the iOS 8 exploit is the same one as 7.1.x.

  • justme

    ok, well..
for all of us with Jailbreak..(7.1.1)
I know Pingu confirms that is safe update to 7.1.2 but..
we can update via OTA or need a clean restore?
    please confirm. thanks!

    • Luis B.

Never use OTA if you jailbreak. Thats what I’ve heard in the past. Always clean restore.

      • justme

        ok
        thank you!
I’ll wait for a while to see how the battery and performance behaves.

      • Manuel Molina

It’s not a major update, so you’ll be fine if you really want to update.

      • justme

my batterylife on iOS7.1.2 is damn great! my connection with my bluetooth headsets are better!!

  • Luis B.

Does anyone know how to fix the slow animations with “Reduce Motion” turned on? It’s working normal on 7.0.6 but my iPad has slow animations when switching apps on 7.1.1. Its annoying.

    • wonderboydave

if ur jailbroken, there’s various tweaks including springtomize 3 to quicken the animations.

    • VeRdUgO!

      NoSlowAnimations (cydia) best!

      • Felipe Queiroz Drumond

        NoSlowAnimations is really the best!

  • mlee19841

people that updated when u get a chance can u see if the battery is improved. thanks

  • Darktrmpt9

Just did it using pangu and it worked perfectly. & no i’m not trolling

    • mlee19841

thanks. now if that battery is better I’m going to jump. just sucks to have to re do everything.

      • justme

        me too.

      • mlee19841

        its the same

  • Darktrmpt9

    Proof:

    • andy

This might sound stupid, obvious question to be answered. I haven’t experienced much about jail-breaking but i have played around with it on my mates iPhone. So please don’t judge me or anything, thanks:
I’m thinking whether I should jailbreak or not, as i’m quite concerned. I know a few apps/tweaks/themes.. can cause your device to get bricked, stuck in boot loop.
Will jail-breaking reduce the performance, speed, battery life, stability, enhancements or cause to glitch, crash and lag even more?.
If I jailbreak then a few days i eventually want to give up the jailbreak, when i restore it back to factory settings, will my device become as normal as it always used to be when it wasn’t never jail-broken before….??
Or even if I did restore it back to factory settings, will my battery life, speed, stability, enhancements and all that become bad?.
      Thanks for the help :)!

      • Jailbreaking is safe. And there aren’t that many tweaks that will cause your device to turn into a brick. I don’t even know one ;p You can always restore your iPhone and you won’t have any lagg, or other problems you had with a jailbreak. Jailbreaking itself won’t slow down your device, the things that you install will do the bad things. And don’t be afraid to ask things. That’s why a lot of people are here, to ask things and help eachother 😀

      • andy

Thanks MIKE, you really helped me here!!! 😀
what tweaks do you know that’s the best for daily use and doesn’t necessarily drain or decrease performance as much?.
        thanks 🙂 again.

      • In short: jailbreaking doesn’t do anything unless you make use of it. When you start using heavy tweaks such as Auxo 2, IntelliScreen X and NC widgets at the same time, your performace and battery life will be reduced indeed, but that doesn’t necessarily mean jailbreaking is bad. Jailbreaking might be bad for people that don’t know much about it, even though there isn’t much to know about it anyway, most people are just too lazy and dumb to jailbreak after all, which is something I don’t understand either because jailbreaking has been made so easy today, if you compare it to redsn0w.

      • andy

Thanks MrModZix :D!!!! thanks for your help, i really appreciated :)!.

  • latinlegacy

just did my ipad air 7.1.2 and jailbroke with 1.0.1 and works fine

  • lacaco

OK, Dumb question time, I Jailbroke my iPhone yesterday with pango, if I wish to update to 7.1.2 is there a written, step by step procedure?
    Thanks

    • Farbod

1.connect iPhone to computer (be sure you have latest itunes)
2.go to itunes and restore iphone after backing it up
      3. download pangu 1.1 and jailbreak
      4. re-download previous tweaks and restore from backup

  • justme

someone can share his experiences about differences on performance and battery life between 7.1.1 and 7.1.2?
OK, may until tomorrow we can get some info about that..

    • mlee19841

both the same for me from 7.1.1-7.1.2

      • justme

        thank you!_

  • Waleed

Am i supposed to kill myself and blame it to apple ? Just a BIG WTF ! No battery drain issue fix ?? Really making my life worst !!

    • mlee19841

seems like the same as 7.1.1 for me.

      • Guest

  • ✪ aidan harris ✪

iOS 7.1.2 is also available from our Downloads page.

    No it’s not

    • andy

      Be patient :).

      • Rahimo

Oh ! I’m dying !! I can’t wait ’cause I have an issue on cydia after jailbreaking the 7.1.1, and I couldn’t solve it, so I need to re-jailbreak, and that’s not allowed in Pangu !

      • ✪ aidan harris ✪

        I don’t have patience. I got the ipsw elsewhere…

  • Valle641

Any one knows of a backup tool that works 100% with 7.1.1 and 7.1.2? from cydia?

    • ✪ aidan harris ✪

Pkgbackup worked for me going from 7.0.6 -> 7.1.2. I had to weed out broken tweaks but other than that my 5s is a dream machine now…

  • test_11

I wonder how to 7.1.2 downgrade to 7.1.1???

    • mlee19841

Can’t. Pretty sure apple closed the signing window.

      • andy

        Not yet! 🙂

      • test_11

Hi. Guess what? I did my ipad mini was DFU device cause could 7.1.2 to downgrade 7.1.1 ;))) its worked for me!

      • mlee19841

What iTunes version the new one?

      • test_11

Yeah. ITunes version 11.2.2 for imac

      • mlee19841

Saying incompatible for me. But a bunch of sites still says Apple is signing it.

    • andy

If you want to downgrade back to ios 7.1.1
      Do it now so!!!!
Apple are still signing it 🙂
      Good luck.

Jony: Hey Tim, users keep disabling the Bluetooth
Tim: No problem, we will just release a new update
Jony: Hehe, don’t forget to add some lockscreen bugs.

  • Amanda Judd

i just did the ios7.1.2 update, and now my phone wont work, and wants me to restore it.. can someone please help me?!? My phone is stuck on the contact to itunes screen.. I hooked it up to itunes, and it wont work..

    • Svs

You probably updated via OTA and bricked your phone, just go to DFU / recovery mode and restore via itunes

    • Rahimo

Try to put it in DFU mode ! (On your own risque) I guess that will take out of the recovery mode (connect to iTunes screen) and the screen will be black ! That will help

  • Amanda Judd

    connect, not contact

  • justme

for my iPh5 , I see the difference now.
my bluetooth headsets has a better connectivity on iOS7.1.2
battery life looks normal with JB.
performance is good for me. just same as the iOS7.1.1

  • andy

Has anyone so far notice any differences of battery life or speed improvements!?!?!?!
    thanks :)!.

    • mlee19841

      The same

      • andy

        ah ok.

    • ✪ aidan harris ✪

More than likely a placebo effect but it definitely seems faster than 7.0.6…

  • Danial Hakim

so how was the battery? 🙂

  • Kitten Meow

Can I update if I’m already jailbroken on 7.1.1?

  • Rahimo

Sorry for late !!! I needed some time to figure out what shold I tell you !!! well.. I’ve fixed my issue by re-restoring in the same firmware 7.1.1, and I jailbreaked it using Pangu 1.1 , and it is all fine !! You don’t have to worry , just do it !! And enjoy it !!

  • Robin Mercer

it won’t even open for me WTF!

  • Wyntrsun

Hi, I am a total neophyte and have been reading everything in search for the answer to this: I’m currently running ios 6.1.3 (because I’m terrified of losing connection to my HUGE library – it happened once when I updated – ARG!) so, IF I update to ios 7.1.2 will I lose the ability to connect to my third party downloaded music and transfer music files from Media Monkey and UTorrent?

  • Zinger Mercurial

What is the difference between the firmwares:
    iPhone 5s – iOS 7.1.2 – Global iPhone 6,2 and
    iPhone 5s – iOS 7.1.2 – Global iPhone 6,1?
Which should I download? I got my iPhone from Verizon.
