Google’s charity app ‘One Today’ comes to iOS

Those feeling like giving back a little extra this holiday season may want to check out Google’s just-released One Today. The app, which has been on Android for some 5 months, makes it easy for users to donate small amounts of money to charity.

One Today highlights a different non-profit organization each day, and allows users to make donations for as little as just a $1. You can also share details about an organization from within the application, and opt to match a friend’s recent donation…

From the App Store:

Want to be inspired and help change the world at the same time?

One Today is an app that lets you give a little and change a lot.
• Be inspired: Discover an awesome nonprofit project each day—go ahead and see.
• Donate simply: One project, one button, one good deed a day—you’re a hero, done.
• Spread the love: Share that good feeling with friends—get your donations matched, too.

If you see a charity you’d like to donate to, all you have to do is tap the gift icon in the bottom right-hand corner. Unfortunately, it looks like you must have a Google Wallet account. For those that don’t, you’ll need a credit card and other info handy.

This will likely be a deal-breaker for some, but for those already in Google’s ecosystem the app provides an easy way to donate a small amount of money. And I like that it tracks a project’s progress and shows you others who have donated to the cause.

If you’re interested, you can find Google’s One Today app in the App Store, and of course it’s free to download.
