Apple-iPad-5-Space-Grey-01

I would say ‘spoiler alert,’ but I’m sure it’s far too late for that. Photos of shells and components belonging to Apple’s fifth-generation tablet have been bouncing around the web since January of this year.

But these new images offer an extremely clear look at the so-called iPad 5—perhaps the best we’ve seen thus far. And they give us a really good idea of what we can expect to see from Apple later this month…

The photos come from Australian writer Sonny Dickson, who has been responsible for a number of accurate iPhone and iPad leaks over the years, and they depict the upcoming tablet’s casing and front panel.

For those who haven’t been keeping up with the iPad rumors, the 9.7-inch slate is expected to get a significant redesign this year. The new case is supposedly thinner, with smaller bezels, similar to the iPad mini.

In addition to its new looks, the tablet is also believed to be getting all-new internals. It’s said to feature the 64-bit A7 processor, 2GB of RAM and an 8MP camera. And it’s possible it could come with Touch ID.

Of course, we should know all of this for sure in a couple of weeks. Yesterday, the credible AllThingsD website reported that Apple is planning told hold its iPad-centric event on Tuesday, October 22.

        I love leaks except when it comes to my roof of my house!

      • Jonathan

        and out of the faucet…

      • and in the bathroom….

      • Jonathan

        And out of the main water line in your front yard. That was fun to clean up.

    Those specs are pretty solid!

  • I hate leaks. Ruin all the surprise factor from Apple events.
    It’s like seeing a magician and knowing how he did the trick.

    • SMFH

      Then don’t read them dumbass. Please. Become even stupider.

      • And who said im talking about me f king moron…?
        People reaction and media reaction it’s so different when they don’t know anything about the next product.

        That’s what make Apple events great. And they where even better when we all expected S. Jobs saying: “There’s one more thing…”

        I remember Tim Cook saying that they will double Apple secrecy, but somehow they are failing so hard…

      • Nick Chambers

        “And who said im talking about me f king moron…?”

        You did.

        “I hate leaks.”

      • What did you expect…? “We hate leaks”

      • diggitydang

        @SMFH – I agree that @Int3nsive doesn’t have to read the article, but it’s hard to avoid, especially with such a captivating title… same as seeing that magic trick, having the secret in your hand, knowing that everyone else is going to read it, but then deciding to throw it away, instead of looking at it… who has the will-power to throw it away!?! Ha! I wouldn’t!!

        Oh, one last thing, SMFH, while I agree with you that we don’t have to read this stuff, you don’t have to be such a prick about it. Have a little respect for people…

        There’s a class in SpringBoard called SBPrototypeController. Apple use it internally so they can easily tweak values for animations etc. without having to make a change in the source, recompile and reinstall. SBPrototypeController has a class method called reloadDefaults that determines whether to allow this. Here’s what is does:

        + (void)reloadDefaults {
        if ([[SBPlatformController sharedInstance]isInternalInstall])
        if (NSClassFromString(@”PTSettingsController”))
        if ([[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults]boolForKey:@”SBPrototypeSettingsEnabled”])
        [_sharedInstance _configureForDefaults];
        }

      • Jonathan

        Wow, that’s cool. I’m not that much of an expert in this part of technology. I can access a Mac if it is needed, but I do not have a dev account, but my iPod is registered. Do you have the video posted? It would be excellent if you do.

        Thanks so much. 🙂
