shsh tinyumbrella

With a new jailbreak impending, it’s nice to see that notcom has updated his SHSH blob-saving utility this afternoon. TinyUmbrella now supports the newly-released iOS 6.1 firmware, as well as iOS 6.0.2.

The developer also says that he is still hard at work on a TU revamp, which will include auto-updating and “much cleaner code.”

Here’s the announcement from the TU blog:

“6.0.2 and 6.1 support for all relevant devices has been added. Sorry for the delay. I’m still working on the rewrite that will include auto updating and much cleaner code. I’ll post more details as I get closer to completion. I have a feeling I’ll be making at least some of the modules open source on either github or bitbucket.

You’ll want to make sure that you save your SHSH blobs when you get to iOS 6.1. Hackers waited for it to release their jailbreak to avoid Apple catching their exploits. And though the plan worked, it could easily release a quick update to patch the holes.

As always, you can find the latest version of TinyUmbrella on our Downloads page. And if you want to know more about getting ready for the iOS 6.1 jailbreak, check out our awesome preparation guide.

Update: For those of you having problems with TinyUmbrella, notcom says he has issued a minor update to fix them. You can find it using the same link shown above.

    I need Cydia

save it and use it for what? This blob thing is useless for the vast majority of iPhone users.

    • So that when SHSH blobs become useful you are grateful you saved some and can use them (ex iOS 5 exploit allowing 4S users to downgrade/upgrade with saved blobs).

      • seyss

do you really think some hacker will just come out and announce a A6 bootrom exploit? keep dreaming. plus only morons update their phones by mistake.

I was maintaining iOS 4.0 blob when I thought it’d keep my ultrasn0w unlocked BB but then I found that it wouldn’t help me even with that. so screw it.

      • You don’t need a bootrom exploit to downgrade.. The iOS 5 A5 Downgrade exploit used a loophole in the APTicket system and required the SHSH Blobs to sign the code

    • duped???

      why is it useless?

  • There appears to be a bug in this release; doesn’t save the iOS 6.1 SHSH of my GSM iPhone 4 but it saves that of a friend’s iPod Touch 4G and iPhone 4S.

    • This has been fixed. See post update

Does the Cydia app ishshit work just as good? Oh well I’m going to use tiny umbrella just to be safe.

  • Quetstion: i am currently running 6.0.1 on my iPhone 5 and I wanted to save my SHSH blob before I updated to 6.1 just in case its somehow not supported. So I downloaded tinyumbrella and saved my SHSH blob but tinyumbrella is incorrectly listing my phone as running 6.1 instead of 6.0.1 in the saved SHSHs but it correctly lists 6.0.1 in the “installed firmware version” line below. Will it not save my 6.0.1 SHSH since apple isn’t signing that firmware anymore? or is another reason? any suggestions?

Apple stopped signing 6.0.1 for the iPhone 5 a long while ago, I was lucky enough to get 6.0 and 6.0.2 blobs saved.
When I go home I am going to save the 6.1 blobs.

Tinyumbrella isn’t fetching my 6.1 blobs. I updated through iTunes so I don’t understand why its not fetching. Any possible reason why???

    • Jose Gonzalez

Never mind, I figured it out. Just unchecked “Request SHSH From Cydia” and then it fetched them.

      • Marshall

I’m using iPhone4, i face the same problem although unchecked “request SHSH From Cydia”

      • Jose Gonzalez

Well for me I it wasn’t fetching my iPad mini’s blobs, thats when I unchecked the Cydia prompt but yes know ive tried doing the same with my iPhone 4 and its still not fetching anything.

      • Marshall

go to tinyumbrella and download a newer version. 6.10.02, fixed iPhone4 save SHSH 6.1. but i’m not sure about iPad mini. sorry bro.

      • Jose Gonzalez

I already had the ipad mini blobs, and now I have my iphones’s blobs too.

      • I had a same problems….

        I need to have a 6.1 shsh blobs~

      • Jose Gonzalez

Have you tried unchecking the box in the advanced tab that says “Request SHSH from cydia”?

TU 6.10-02a will not start on Mountain Lion (10.8.2). When launching I first see “Trying proxy(0)” then “Unable to validate libraries…loading anyway” and finally “Recalculating splines” then it simply crashes. I have updated to the latest JDK. Here is a java -version output.

    java version “1.7.0_13”
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_13-b20)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 23.7-b01, mixed mode)

    Any suggestions?
