After installing iOS 6, I’ve noticed a significant improvement with battery life on my iPhone 4S. Usually, I’m not someone who really likes to talk about battery life, as I’m always near a charger during the day.

I’m certainly not one of those that tends to either complain or rave over battery life. To me, it is what it is.

But I’ve noticed such an improvement with battery life on my iPhone 4S after installing iOS 6, that I just had to talk about it. It’s way better, like, by a big margin. So the question stands to be asked, how is your battery life on iOS 6? Has it improved?

    • Strange…. My iPhone 5 gets 8-9 hours usage a day regularly. Mostly streaming, some youtube, browsing and sometimes a game. Try using auto brightness and turning off location based system services

      • Liu Zhenyu

Since I’m homosexual. Would the iPhone 5 be a good match for me? I’m a bit of a queen and don’t know too much about this sexy technology. 8-9 hours seems alright I guess

      • Kok Hean

Don’t think that you can impersonate someone else by using the same name.

Impersonation is a crime and you must stop doing it.

        BILL NUMBER: SB 1411

An act to add Section 528.5 to the Penal Code, relating to
        impersonation.

Existing law makes it a crime to falsely impersonate another in
either his or her private or official capacity, as specified.
Existing law also makes it a crime to knowingly access and, without
permission, alter, damage, delete, destroy, or otherwise use any
data, computer, computer system, or computer network in order to
devise or execute any scheme or artifice to defraud, deceive, or
extort, or wrongfully control or obtain money, property, or data. For
a violation thereof, in addition to specified criminal penalties,
existing law authorizes an aggrieved party to bring a civil action
        against the violator, as specified.
This bill would provide that any person who knowingly and without
consent credibly impersonates another actual person through or on an
Internet Web site or by other electronic means, as specified, for
purposes of harming, intimidating, threatening, or defrauding another
person is guilty of a misdemeanor. The bill would, in addition to
the specified criminal penalties, authorize a person who suffers
damage or loss to bring a civil action against any person who
violates that provision, as specified. Because the bill would create
a new crime, the bill would impose a state-mandated local program.
The California Constitution requires the state to reimburse local
agencies and school districts for certain costs mandated by the
state. Statutory provisions establish procedures for making that
        reimbursement.
This bill would provide that no reimbursement is required by this
        act for a specified reason.

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1. Section 528.5 is added to the Penal Code, to read:
528.5. (a) Notwithstanding any other provision of law, any person
who knowingly and without consent credibly impersonates another
actual person through or on an Internet Web site or by other
electronic means for purposes of harming, intimidating, threatening,
or defrauding another person is guilty of a public offense punishable
        pursuant to subdivision (d).
        (b) For purposes of this section, an impersonation is credible if
another person would reasonably believe, or did reasonably believe,
that the defendant was or is the person who was impersonated.
        (c) For purposes of this section, “electronic means” shall include
opening an e-mail account or an account or profile on a social
networking Internet Web site in another person’s name.
        (d) A violation of subdivision (a) is punishable by a fine not
exceeding one thousand dollars ($1,000), or by imprisonment in a
county jail not exceeding one year, or by both that fine and
        imprisonment.
        (e) In addition to any other civil remedy available, a person who
suffers damage or loss by reason of a violation of subdivision (a)
may bring a civil action against the violator for compensatory
damages and injunctive relief or other equitable relief pursuant to
        paragraphs (1), (2), (4), and (5) of subdivision (e) and subdivision
        (g) of Section 502.
        (f) This section shall not preclude prosecution under any other
        law.
SEC. 2. No reimbursement is required by this act pursuant to
Section 6 of Article XIII B of the California Constitution because
the only costs that may be incurred by a local agency or school
district will be incurred because this act creates a new crime or
infraction, eliminates a crime or infraction, or changes the penalty
for a crime or infraction, within the meaning of Section 17556 of the
Government Code, or changes the definition of a crime within the
meaning of Section 6 of Article XIII B of the California
        Constitution.

      • Liu Zhenyu

Lol who are you? You are not me and i am not you.

    • Weird. My 5 is getting about 12 hours, normal usage, before hit hits 25/30%. You must have something running in the background killing battery life.

  • WeebSurfer

I thought I read an article here… Or a nearby blog perhaps, that the battery life was nasty! Maybe that feature is exclusive to the 5.

  • Maybe a little better, but nothing so significant. I’m sure it didn’t got worse on iOS 6.Uh, I’m using iOS 6 on both my iPhone 4S and iPad 2.

  • Sku

My Father’s iP4S get worse after upgrade to iOS6.

    • WeebSurfer

I find with social network apps the worse thing you can do is leave them open in forground when you lock. Always try to stay in the habit of hitting home button before locking.

    • Liu Zhenyu

      Shut up bitch

      • Liu Zhenyu

FUXK YOU DOG ASS HOLE CHANGE YOUR NAME INTO STH ELSE GAY DOG YOU ARE NOT ME “LIUZHENYU”

  • Last year I had the 4S and when I first got it with iOS 5.0 on it battery life sucked. Battery life still sucked with iOS 5.0.1, but then when iOS 5.1.1 came out it was good to go and battery life was great. Now I have the iPhone 5 with iOS 6 and battery life is back to sucking.

  • The battery life is horrible on iOS6 on the iPhone 5. I have to charge the phone mid day if I use it for the usual things in the morning while havin coffee. Hope it’s software related…

    • Liu Zhenyu

      Whyyyyyy so badddd

      • Liu Zhenyu

    • chin2793

Well he is talking about iOS6, not iPhone 5. As he says, battery life of his 4s is better on iOS 6 than iOS5.

    • Guest

      Whoa!

      Did you say ass? *Wink*

      • Liu Zhenyu

FUCK YOU DOG CHANGE YOUR DARN NAME COS I AM NOT GAY AND YOU ARE!!!

  • Digital

The battery won’t get better till apple change their radio modem code! If you turn off data and 3G you will get the idea of how sux their programing code is compared to the pre iOS v5 (I.e 4.x code)

  • Over the weekend I ran my iPhone dead and at 1% I had 10hrs 11mins (light use) and 23hrs 48min standby. Not too bad I’d say. I was on Wi-Fi

  • Ip5 lasts all day no cable needed.

  • Kurt

How’s the iPad 1Gen’s battery on iOS 6? (sarcasm)

    • The iPad 1 barely manages to run iOS 5. It only has 256MB of DDR RAM.

      • Kurt

so does the 3gs, but with a less powerful processor. and the iphone 4 does also, with a under clocked processor. so thats two devices that are less powerful than the ipad 1gen. you didn’t think of that huh

      • 1337lolzorz

When they first announced iPad 1st gen is not compatible with iOS 6 I sold it that same week before value dropped. Ofcourse they’re keeping the less powerful 4 and 3GS so they can profit off of them in less developed countries while dropping iPad as they want people to buy the new ones. Smart bastards

      • The iPhone 4 has 512MB of DDR2 RAM.
I am a little surprised that the 3GS is supported, but in general: iPhone apps are lighter than iPad apps, so it makes sense.

For one thing, the iPad 1 has to render 786,432 pixels compared to the iPhone 3GS’s 153,600 (more than 5x less). I have an iPad 1, and it barely suffices on iOS 5 for me. Heavy applications fairly regularly crash from a lack of memory. And when I monitor the free RAM, it’s always low- even when not in heavy use. If iOS6 is any more resource hungry, it would slow the iPad 1 to a crawl.

  • Kurt

<–can't answer the poll. No jailbreak = no upgrade ๐Ÿ™

  • Liu Zhenyu

Being homosexual, would the iPhone 5 be a good match for me? I don’t know too much about this sexy technology. 8-9 hours seems alright I guess.

    • Liu Zhenyu

FUCK YOU!!! YOU ARE NOT ME< CHANGE YOUR DARN NAME!!!!

      • Zac7

Relax. Using your name to post is not the same as stealing your identity. But damn this is entertaining how mad you are.

  • If your ever had battery issues on your iPhone 4S specially after jailbreak do a Restore has “NEW” and “Not FROM BACKUP” than check out iDownloadBlog save “iPhone Battery Tips” his help me a lot. Remember this: If you Charge your iPhone at 12pm its drains completely at 7pm. I mean turns off completely that’s a good battery. Apple say the iPhone 4S gets 8hours Internet. So you figure about 7hrs between Apps, Emails, Streams, Messages, and phone calls are pretty good.

  • Just want to state, even though I am on the iPhone 5 and no longer have access, the last update of BattSaver was awesome–on the 4S, using custom mode, I got over 24 hours… I cannot wait to see how well it works with the 5…. if a JB is actually made by someone who can distribute it…. Oh, and, yeah, I’m getting far superior time on the 5. As far as the 4S on 6, there was a difference, but I cannot state that one percentage was better considering it was first on a JB phone and then a stock phone. Though, the one thing I have noticed, on the iPad 2, is that my battery is draining quicker–mainly when using iBooks.

    • Can you please share that how you use the Custom Version? Like what options are you using?

      • Wifi automatically set to shut off when not online, have data/Edge and 4G on automatic, but with turning back on to search for notifications every 3-10 minutes (depending on the day and how many notifications I am getting), but I leave Location services (Siri just functions better if left on–even after reconnecting to 4G or whatever, if Location services are off, then it takes another 10 seconds to establish a connection with Siri servers). When on WiFi, I have Edge set to stay on (was having difficulties sending photos, even via iMessage when turned off), but I have turned onto automatic (with the shut off edge/4g option enabled. It seems a contradiction, but it works–that way I have data since it overrides the ‘when wifi’ is activated deal, but it only searches for 4G when WiFi isn’t established). Hope that helps.

      • I am going to update Battsaver and than will see what happens!

  • Liu Zhenyu

Hey iDB, can you block the other “Liu Zhenyu” on this post who is NOT ME? I Know this sounds crazy, but someone is trying to steal my identity and use the same name before posting crap here, and i have over 100 comments while she made 18, so please ask her to change her name or block her.

  • On iPhone 4s it’s terrible! Much worse. I’m losing 18% an hour doing nothing. No Loc Service, minimal notifications, no calls.. not even any real use.

  • I updated my 3GS with iOS 6. The battery life seems a little worse than with iOS 5. But seeing as how its an older device, im assuming the older hardware has to run harder for the new software to function properly. Also, my App Store app wont let me access my previously purchased link. It loads for a bit, then the screen turns black, and then the app spits me back out to my home screen. I think I may need to do a restore in iTunes. Is anyone else having this problem?

  • GuyBey0ndC00L

I finally download iOS 6 after having my iPhone 4S Jailbroken running iOS 5.1.1. I restore and updated from “Backup” not new. I wanted to update my iPhone 4S because my battery seem to drain fast after so little time using the iPhone. I charge it to about 99% used for about 30 minutes its now at 80%. Brightness is about 40%. I did all iDB battery tips in the past. My question is if this is normal or should I restore again has “New.”

  • GuyBey0ndC00L

iPhone 4S running iOS6: First: I did a DFU and Restore from backup. You it for day notice “Dynamic Battery Drain” about 4 – 5 hours. I use my iPhone all day with all the useful Battery Tips this and other sites have. Second: Did a DFU and Restore to “New”, after reinstalling everything from setting, apps, to music, etc.. same result. Before upgrade to iOS 6 my iPhone 4S was running 5.1.1 “Jailbroken” with many tweaks and JB Apps installed. My iPhone 4S would last ( about 6-7hours ( no joke ) using it the same way I always do. I thought not being Jailbroking would increase battery not drain it more.. Any one have some tips other than what I did or downgrade back to 5.1.1?
