One major annoyance I had with iOS so far is that anytime you download an application from the App Store, the app would close and take you back to the Home screen. If you want to download a new app, you have to launch the App Store app again, and repeat the process.

iOS 6 puts an end to this small nonsense and now lets you download as many apps as you want without closing…

Of course, jailbreakers aren’t stranger to this feature since the StayOpened tweak by @EvilPenguin_ has been doing just that since 2010.

It might not change your life forever, but it will certainly make it a tad easier.

Let us know if you find anything else that’s new in iOS 6!

i like the new interface for the app store… smooth and easier then its predecessor… colors and all 🙂

  • Outhig

    Thank God!

  • JerseyD

Awesome. It should always have been this way. Another tweak I use has been built into iOS

    • What tweak is that called again?

      • JerseyD

      • StayOpened. Love it.

  • something else they stole form the jailbreak community that they so actively hate.

    • Loopthree

I think that this was copied from the Google Play Store. The new layout is very similar to Googles in lots of ways (not that this is a bad thing).

    • There are many things you can claim apple stole from the community but this one is a reach. The ability to keep the AppStore open while downloading wasn’t “invented”. I’m guessing apple simple never enable it due to lack of or crippled multitasking ability in the earlier days.

How do you know that they ACTUALLY copied it from Jailbreakers? Do you have proof or you just like to criticise to boost your low self-esteem?

  • That’s awesome

  • Sina

Exactly what I hate about old App Store … Close -> switch back to AppStore -> update -> close again !
Can’t wait to install iOS 6 this fall. 🙂

  • Appletiser

i wonder where they got their inspiration — would that be from StayOpened by any chance?

  • Apple saw StayOpened tweak. Puts in iOS.

  • jose castro

without jailbreakers… apple would not have any ideas hahaha

  • Could u please upload new wallpaper iOS6 for iphone and ipad 🙂

    • jose castro

lol why dont you download wallpaper apps from the appstore…..

  • dpeters11

Seems to me that app updates are different now too. It doesn’t ask for the password.

    Goodthing stayopened was free.

  • It’s about time!

  • I like the way people moan about stealing from the JB (jailbreak community), I personally think it’s a good thing. The JB community offers great ideas that we buy/test and if they work Apple implement them into the next iOS (for free) and typically more bug free. It’s a strange system; but it works!

  • You’ve done a good job, developer of StayOpened! Apple took your idea/tweak and implemented it into next iOS natively, you should be proud 🙂

  • i wonder when they are gonna have a ipod touch 5 gen with a5

  • Wael Abdo

OMG, my eyes became all tears when i read this, this should have been ever since the appstore is here.

  • Eloia Rafav

im upset that you can’t facetime over 3g on the iphone 4, and firstly the facetime was introduce on the iphone 4 and steve jobs says only wifi in 2010 cause they are working on it! but why only on the iphone 4s is the facebook over 3g…. :((

anyway… who uses facetime.. HHAHAHA . LOL 😀

  • Good move. I hated having to scroll through 10 pages of apps on the Store, only to download the app and then have to scroll through that same 10 pages to see more stuff.

Loving the black and white look too, I’ve always been looking for a jailbreak theme such as this for the whole phone.

  • Does anyone read the comments before they comment? People just used logic on how apple didn’t steal the idea StayOpen or whatever it’s called. PS like some guy said earlier, when updating, you don’t have to enter your password.
