We were way overdue for a site redesign! As you can see it’s much better than it was before. That’s because instead of doing the design myself, I actually hired a professional to do it. The layout is pretty much the same so you should find your way around pretty easily.

There are Twitter and Facebook buttons on every page so you can easily share the articles with your buddies. We also have a new logo, which I really like.

We kept the same amount of ads, no more no less (actually, there is less on the homepage). There are quite a few ads on the site but I make sure they never get in the way of the content. So when you read an article, you will never have an ad in the middle of it. My goal in the next few months is to have less and less ads on the blog. It’s not going to be easy but we’ll get there.

A site redesign is like a rebirth. It’s also a good way to thank all those who make this possible: YOU! Thank you for reading iDB. Thank you for being part of our growing community and thank you for spreading the love to your friends and family. The site has grown very quickly and I am extremely proud of where we’re at and where we’re going to.

Now I hope we didn’t do all this in vain and that you will love the redesign as much as I do.

Please leave a comment to tell us what you think.

personally i dont find the ads invasive and if they’re a big help in keeping the standards high then id be quite happy for them to stay, it would be detrimental to reduce them if the quality were to suffer. I’ve not been reading long but iDB has been really helpful and informative. thanks

    • I get your point. To be completely honest, my goal is to start charging advertisers more and reduce the amount of advertisers at the same time.

For example, instead of having 2 ads that bring $10/month, I’d rather have only one that brings $20/month. This way we make the same amount of money (we do have to pay some bills) and we reduce the amount of ads.

There gotta be a right balance here. I’m sure we’ll find it in the next few months.

In the meantime, I want to thank you for reading iDB πŸ™‚

Very nice bro! Nice and clean!

    • Thanks, Mike. Positive feedback is always good to take, hehe.

  • Yeah Man, I really like the new site design. Especially your new logo it looks awesome. Keep up the great content man. It is really appreciated. Eventually you may also want to look into getting your forum themed to match the site design, if you outsource its pretty cheap. Best regards,
    StanHell

    • Yep, the forums is the next step.

  • Dadditude

I do like the new logo, but everything else looks the same to me. Then again, I have only ever visited the site on my iPhone, so I have no idea what the site looked like either before or after the changes. πŸ™‚ The mobile version has always looked and worked fine fit me (and still does).

    • Dadditude

Stupid auto-correct! That should have been “fine FOR me.”

  • Saice

very nice πŸ™‚ its a little bit slower than the previous design but my internet connection is slow here overal great design πŸ™‚

I don’t mind the ads as long as they don’t block the content. iDB has been really helpful for me. Solved a lot of my problems which could have driven me nuts. And I learn a lot from the articles.

  • Joe

I have never noticed the adds shows how invasive they really are.

I don’t know if it’s my screen, but in the upper part of the page, I see all a mess.

I leave a screenshot of my screen.

The blog is excellent! Please keep doing this, that you are helping lots of people!

    • I looked at the screenshot you posted and everything seems to be normal in there.

i was trying to find ur personal blog the other day, but i couldnt find it! can u tell me? curious to see stories about ur trip

  • Adam

Hey sebastien have u ever been to
Mexico? I’m going this week and uncertain wether or not I can buy a sim card for my iPhone 4 at the airport just for emergency calls or a lil email. And ill prob have to cut it to fit. Any suggestions?

    • I’ve been to Mexico many times before but I never bought a SIM card there so I can’t be of much help. However I’m pretty sure you can get a sim card at the airport, then trim it to fit in your iPhone 4.

Let me know how it goes.

I’m using the mobile theme on the phone – what ads?! =)

  • Very nice Sebastian, it has a better feel and good flow about it. Nice job

  • it looks better, but i dislike all the advertising stuff. it is getting more and more, until it finally may destroy this blog πŸ™

  • Burge

If ads keeps this blog going then I can put up with them, got to pay bills some how !,
    Keep up the good work.

  • Polemicist

Nice design. Simple with a few nice animations … I like it … Maybe it is the animator in me but I’d like to see the status bar move under the “Download Blog” text when I hover over it. πŸ™‚

I can’t see the adverts thanks to SafariBlock on my Mac and Firefox with AdBlock on my PC’s so I dunno why people are bitching about something they can stop seeing anytime they want? Adverts make the internet go around and on this site it seems like mostly iPhone related adverts not porn so quit complaining. πŸ˜›

Good, clean and simple. I like it a lot. Of course I already @replied to you on twitter, but felt I should comment here, too. πŸ™‚

  • To be honest I actually like the ads here, that’s how I found half the stuff I own πŸ˜€ ADS FTW
